Playing through Battletech at the third attempt of starting the campaign and only now am I understanding the brutal nature of the gameplay.

I just go into missions knowing a mech is going to get absolutely wrecked and be out of action for a month and its pilot in a similar situation at the very least.

So despite the noble intentions of the storyline, success for your outfit invariably boils down to getting into a position where you have two or more squads with a similar level of mechs, and just putting them through the meat grinder over and over, replacing dead MechWarriors as necessary.

It's monstrous and I really like it.

Easing myself back into Battlefront II with a replay of the campaign before then diving into multiplayer again. The environments are still gorgeous and the action spectacular, although I don't remember how awkwardly characters moved around, especially while crouched - it's really distracting. :dread:

Days Gone, ignore the negative reviews as this game storyline is fascinating.

Reviews for Days Gone were pish. It's easily one of the best games of the generation.

As I've had a good clear out I've freed up quite a bit of HDD space on the PS4 so am re-installing DriveClub. Will be having a blast on that in a bit. Been quite sometime since I last played it.

Continuing my current Naughty Dog marathon with the third game in the Jak & Daxter series, the imaginatively titled Jak 3!

Looks like this was released fairly hot on the heels of the second game, coming just a year afterwards, which explains why at first glance things are very similar to that game.

Haven't made too much progress so far but have enjoyed being able to just bounce my way around the starting area collecting precursor orbs - first goal was to collect enough to allow me to disable Jak's hideous facial hair, a move which improves the game at least 20% in my book. ;)

The Gaming Brit's series retrospective really got me wanting to try these, each title seemed super interesting if flawed in certain ways

Though it's also how I saw some of the...bizarre concept art considered for a potential Jak 4 before they instead made Last of Us

I am so very glad that Jak re-imagining never happened, even if I still really want a new Jak game. The art style is already good in HD as is.

Yeah they are beautiful looking games as it stands and the animation is still genuinely stunning at times.

Not made much progress in Jak 3 yet, had my first spin around in a car and quite enjoyed it!

There is one car you'll get later that stands out from the rest in how fun it is to drive, and you'll know it when you get it. I knew you'd prefer their handling anyway

Also leaper lizards I guess?

The low light levels in DriveClub (mainly Scotland) are almost unplayable. I wish they had patched in a headlight option.

Awesome, if the base vehicle is already fun then that's certainly going to be something to look forward to!

Are the leaper lizards the things that you ride at the start to catch some critters? Reminded me a lot of the Flut Flut's from The Precursor Legacy, so that was an immediate positive point!

Yeah, they're basically lizardy flut fluts, which is a nice callback. Spargus isn't exactly huge but all those things help make it very distinct in character from Haven.

Sims 3, Overwatch and Paladins.

Latter two is mostly half-hour to hour, when Sims 3 I've put in good chuck of time into. Loving it all over again although this time I don't want to go for OP lifetime rewards -- some of them just makes the game way too easy. Only took long distance friendship.

Metroid Fusion on GBA. I actually finished it this afternoon but thanks to a cheeky late game point of no return I only found just over half the upgrades so I’m going back though it with a guide to finding everything before beating it again.

Had Fallout 3 running fine previously but it seems the latest Win 10 update has screwed with everything again. Keeps CTD. Tried all the old tricks, but no luck. Oh well, will give New Vegas a try as I never had any problems with it, even modded.

New Vegas is the better RPG anyway
