Now beaten Chapter 8 in Bayonetta. Was stuck for a while mid-chapter 6 but persisted through, and lo-and-behold a short Google search reassures me that many people think the Grace & Glory double tag team on the staircase is the hardest part of the game.

Some very dodgy camera bullshit and the fact that items are perma-used even when you die is annoying.

The sequel is a much more refined product.

Dragon Quest III on iOS

I finished Dragon Quest III’s main campaign this evening but there’s an extra dungeon to play through after you beat the game.

It’s ludicrously difficult... the guide I was using recommends having all your characters at least level 65 whereas my guys are all around level 50. By crikey this is gonna take some serious grinding.

Namco museum essentials.

Nothing ‘essential’ about Xevious. More like Devious. Frustrating. Slow. Not fun. Pile of trash. This game can suck my balls.

Got back into Metro Exodus, it's a GORGEOUS looking game but the ammo system is a bit hard, I have a sh** TON of mutants left to kill so I'm gonna have to get on a boat, and go all the way back to a safe house to make ammo. I may even die on way back.

Namco Museum Essentials

Finally managed to level 9 of Xevious which was a pain only to face a new nightmare: Level 14

It’s Wednesday evening & I've come across shite game design.

These enemies appear of if nowhere & explode, sending bullets everywhere. To make it harder every time you die they change which side of the screen they will spawn on.

How am I supposed to progress?. Fml

Edit : weirdly enough after letting off some steam, I’ve done it. Now on the last level I think :toot:

Yoshi's Crafted World - just started this and completed a couple levels. Pure Nintendo charm. Not as awesome as Kirby but very relaxing and rewarding.

Wish my image sig would work

I got really lucky in Metro Exodus I managed to somehow beat 2-3 mutants to death with butt of gun and had a hail mary of a molotov that killed about 5 of them as it ran along walkway and there only way to get to me was through it, although a few actually climbed below but couldn't find me. A wait and some charred bodies later I'm restocked, got the carriage I came here for and I'm onto the final objective. I've spent HOURS in this first 'area' and although daunting at first, I know it all like the back of my hand now, stealth killing enemies in bases in this is excellent.

Is that the rail car section with the gate? If so its testimony to the amount of character in the level design. I'm normally hopeless for identifying game areas.

The second gif is the Rail car section with gate yeah. The first gif is just some out houses I was scouting around and heard some guys getting tortured from outside so went in and investigated.

Excellent, yeah it was only the second gif i recognized tbh. Quite a memorable (and frustrating) part for me. I could not find the bloody lever for looking.

I'm playing Conan Exiles and, even though I'm only around five hours in, I'm struck by the similarities with Fallout 76!

Single-player focussed but with a few other players on your server (at least in Conan's PvE mode and 76's Adventure mode), the survival and crafting approaches, building your camp, levelled areas and enemies... they seem to share the same basic structure. Both have their clunky aspects and they each chuck the player into the world with very little hand-holding; barely any with Conan.

I'm enjoying the game so far and I'm hoping that my understanding of the various mechanisms will build over time.

Dragon Quest XI - The game looks very cartoony (not a put down) but some story moments are so grounded that they hit me in the feels like something from Toy Story. One section of the main story you wouldn't dare think could be like that, as it centres around a irl legendary creature, but I was practically a wreck by the end of the quest.
I highly recommend DQXI if it is available on a system you own.

I'd really like to try it out, SoK, but I'm waiting for the Switch release. Then again, it's sometimes on sale in the PS Store. It does look pretty neat.

Picked it up in a sale myself and took me ages to get into it. I mean I only really started to play it months after first giving it a go as I thought it'd be a waste of money if I left it unplayed. Loving it now, though. I hope the PS4 version gets the DQ XI S stuff as a free update...

Taking a little break from DQIII and XI and playing Soul Blazer on SNES. It’s a fun if basic Action RPG where (like in a bunch of Enix games) you play god’s avatar on earth... Jesus if you will. The plot revolves around a greedy king who sold the souls of his subjects to the devil (called Deathtoll here) in exchange for riches.

You are tasked with restoring the world to its’s former glory by retrieving the souls of the citizens from within dungeons, as you you rescue people the towns start to be rebuilt and you unlock new routes, side quests and such like.

After not playing anything for ages (well just over a couple of weeks actually, last thing I did was finally finish the dex in a Let’s Go Pikachu and get the shiny charm) I’ve finally loaded something up, that something being Cadence of Hyrule. I’ve just finished off the first temple (the water one). I’ll try and stick with it for a while now, seem to have been lacking motivation to play anything over the past couple of weeks though.

I get like that sometimes, usually i’ll take a break and maybe watch a TV series or read a book.

Warhammer 40,000 Inquisitor: Martyr (PS4)

This is a bit clunky on a base PS4, but is an ok 40k Diablo game which I picked up cheap brand new in award-winning retailer GAME at the weekend. Only played a few hours so far and it doesn't do a great deal to introduce people not familiar with the setting but I guess they aren't the target audience. Purging heretics is fun but there don't seem to be that many abilities as they're tied to your weapons and armour rather than being unlocked over time. While there's loads of live service stuff around the after the main story, i'm not sure I'll bother with it, but I'll keep an eye out for the season pass going cheap on psn and see how it goes.
