This is really good! I don't think I could play this game. It would consume me, and I don't need something like that now.

Hey thanks! Yeah it's...a timesink to say the least.

For example, there's a game mechanic called The Engineers. These guys are endgame content, providing upgrades to your ship modules meaning you can hit harder, last longer or travel further. There's about 20 or so of them, with each specialising in a different type of improvement.

One requires you to be an ally of a particular faction. This requires grinding a lot of missions for them. As it happens, I'd already done this accidentally during my time in game. But then you need to do a fetch mission to actually unlock him. Turns out the material he needs is a fairly rare drop from missions that appear completely randomly.

It's really put me off pursuing that goal as it's simply luck as to whether or not you can get that material. The time spent running from system to system looking for missions that might drop one or two of them is... Boring. And not a good boring like the rest of the game. A frustrating boring. Tbh it's put me off a bit and made me think I maybe need a bit of time away from the game.

EDIT; Aaaaand I just found out I was looking under the wrong tab for mission rewards. Got all I needed with one mission!

oO (no idea how this is pronounced)

Extremely cheap (70p) indie game which is controlled with a single button, similar to Super Hexagon in that it induces rage in everyone who plays it.

I haven't sworn at a game as much in years.

Finally had some more time to put into Night in The Woods tonight, still enjoying it although so far not to the extent where I’ll be replaying it immediately to find out what I missed on my first run.

Gone back to AC Odyssey again after a few months of leaving it and I'm having a blast. I think the game is a bit grindy as it takes a fair old time to level up your character but dam the game is beautiful and there's always something to do.

Just finished up Night in The Woods, overall I enjoyed it but I did find it got quite monotonous the nearer you got to the end (except the very last portion where you were basically just having the main chunk of the story wrapped up) and a couple of parts of the dream sequences were just annoying, as all the scenery was various shades of black and at one point you need to head down a slope that I found impossible to actually see....... Thought it looked great though, the music was great, really liked the characters and the story was pretty good as well. As I said though not good enough (purely down to it feeling very slow) to play again anytime soon (although I now know about the DLC in the extras menu so I might go and play that through, might not) due to the pacing and repetitive nature of the game.

As I seem incapable of actually grasping Plague Knight and Spectre Knight (although he’s a lot easier than Plague, sadly I just don't feel like playing anymore of his campaign, Shovel Knight is by far my favourite of the Knights on offer, it’ll be interesting to see how King Knight plays) I have almost cleared by current backlog meaning all I have left to play before the summer arrives is Hollow Knight or carry on with my series of Pokémon games where I aim to finish a game from each generation before Pokémon Sword and Shield arrive later this year. For tonight I’m feeling a bit of Pokémon rather than trying to make progress in Hollow Knight.

Loaded back up Omega Ruby, didn’t realise how close I’d got to the end of this one as I’ve just got the last 2 Regis to catch and then the Pokémon League and Delta Episode.

So that means since Sword/Shield was announced I’ve played though,

Pokémon Red
Pokémon Crystal (both of these were pretty quick runs, couple of Pokémon on each to avoid not being levelled up enough)

Which means I’ve still got the following to try and beat before Sword and Shield come out

Pokémon Omega Ruby (nearly done)
Pokémon Pearl
Pokémon White 2
Pokémon Y
Pokémon Ultra Moon

Not going to lie, don’t think I’ll get though them all...... Not that I need to of course as I’ve played them all to death but still

Assetto Corsa Competizione (PC)

I was a fan of the previous title in this IP, but didn't really know much about this one. The focus here is on GT racing, with an initially limited pool of cars and 10 tracks. This is almost certainly going to be expanded going forward (more cars, more tracks), but as a base foundation I'm finding it a pretty solid experience. The visuals are impressive (easily one of the best-looking racing sims around the moment, imo, and I've got just about all of 'em). I haven't tried the game online, but just racing the AI is great fun, especially when it looks as good as this. Steam discussion is full of gripes, moans and whinges (not necessarily in that order), but for me performance seems great and in over three hours of play the game has only dropped the odd frame here and there, with no crashes at all. I don't use a racing wheel (360 controller here), as I'm not a hardcore sim racer, and all has been well.

Picked this up for just £26 via Eneba Steam keys. Very happy with my purchase and it'll be interesting to see how this sim expands in the future.

Currently playing my upgraded version of Cities Skylines.

Normally i would never buy DLC, but in the case of this magnificent game, i've made an exception.

The Mass Transit add on has allowed me to add cable cars, blimps, ferries, and large multi platform railway stations to my city. I've also been able to widen my city's ring road (labelled M25 lol) from 3 lanes to 4.

This is true of all Pokemom games, largely because the developers apparently approach each one as if it is someone's first Pokémon game. Not an entirely unrealistic prospect given that there must be tonnes of kids who hop.on board each generation.

But I wish there was some wiggle room for those who have played the games. I'm all for accessibility as long as it doesn't infringe on anyone, but the slow, labourous start Pokémon games have make the opening hours a bit of a chore.

I'm playing hrough Ultra Moon at the moment, and this is compounded by the fact that it's largely the same as the original Sun and Moon.

Black and White 2 had a harder mode which might have been a welcome addition, had they not locked it behind the end credits (and, in a tremendously stupid move, made the unlockable difficulty version-exclusive too, so Black 2 got Hard Mode and White 2 got Easy Mode, as if you needed such a bloody thing when you had to complete the game to get it).

Yeah the Pokémon Company/GameFreak do make some odd decisions when it comes to their games, the hard/easy mode in Black/White 2 was just a bizarre choice, both should have been freely available when starting a new game. They also really should put an option in for being able to skip the intro straight up to the starter choice (although maybe this should only be a choice once you’ve completed the game for subsequent play through? First time I don’t actually mind it too much). I also don’t know why they made Ultra Sun/Moon so similar to Sun/Moon rather than having them be Black/White 2 to Black/White, I found USUM hard to play through at the start due to how similar it was, I actually had a break from it for a few months before going back to it.

Re Pearl being so slow, I know every game starts off slow, but everything in Pearl seems on the slow side, text speed even on fast is too slow, battle animations are slow (going to turn them off to try and speed things up, seems a lot slower than gen 1 and 2 were when I replayed those recently).

The idea was that you could send the extra modes to people via infrared, so that they could start on easy or hard without having completed it first.

Why they didn't just have it on the main menu, I'll never know...

Sounds overly dramatic but I might leave out Pearl and wait for a remake (which we should be due for soonish considering Gen 3 was the last remake we had, not including LGP/E of course), everything is so slow.... never really bothered me much in the past (especially not when I first played it) but compared to the games after it, it’s just sluggish? Battle animations are off but HP still drains really slow, text is slow despite being on ‘fast’, character walk is very slow and running still quite slow, pacing is slow. Nearing the first gym now and not really enjoying it due to the above which is unheard of for myself playing a Pokémon game

Pearl is actually the one game I’ve never replayed, feels like its aged by far the worst though.

Don’t get me wrong there’s things about the games I still love, some of the Pokémon they introduced are really good (for myself it was the last time a choice between the starter Pokémon was remotely tricky, in gen 5/6/7 it was a very easy choice for me), they still look good as well. I imagine for someone who’s first Pokémon game was Diamond/Pearl they’ll have much fonder memories (as I do for Red for example) and probably love replaying it despite its flaws but I just don’t think I can, not right now anyway.

Still Dead Island on PS4. I found and placed all the skulls, finished the city part of the story and moved on to the jungle. I think I’m close to reaching the final area now.

EDIT: Although I have just found out there’s an area in the jungle I haven’t found yet which is rich with side quests. Turns out the main plot line never takes you there.

Hollow Knight

Bested the Mantis Lords. Unlocked a new attack. Best of all, after being stuck on a boss I swapped out charm abilities and gave myself an attack squad of flies and a shield and beat the stupid bosses face in  Such a good game :toot:
