Right near the end of Persona 5 now and still loving it, though the difficulty has ramped up noticeably in this last dungeon and apparently it's a one-shot job, too. I have a horrible feeling I'm going to have to revert to an earlier save as I haven't really stocked-up on items. Still, it's a great game and one that sticks with me when I'm not playing it (perhaps not surprisingly, given the 100+ hours I've ploughed into it...).

I'm going to rant here because I'm super angry and have nowhere else to vent.

I strawberry floating hate The Crucible.

This is the PvP element of Destiny and it is rubbish. Because combining a loot shooter with Halo's MP mechanics was never going to work, The Crucible has always been an unbalanced mess dominated by those who can get the best weapons. I usually avoid it at all costs.

Unfortunately the latest Exotic weapon quest has several Crucible stages, the first of which I am completely stuck on. Essentially, you need to kill 100 other players whilst maintaining a solid positive Kill/Death ratio. Every death sets you back a point, every kill ahead.

My current record goes a little like this:

0% -> 29% -> 0% (after 2 team matches with strawberry floated up matchmaking where we were 3 v 6) -> 25% -> 0%

It is...overwhelmingly frustrating to be forced to play this godawful, broken mode and hope you get matched with a decent team in order to get a gun. It's...terrible.

URGH.

The crucible while fun is indeed a bit gooseberry fool and dominated by whatever's the best shotgun or sniper at the time.
The fact that I hate shotguns and just can't snipe (I've tried but unless people are willing to stand still for ages for me to line up my shot I'm not going to hit) means it's very frustrating for me.
They even made melee attacks less powerful and I at least got some kills by pouncing on people while doing my headless chicken tactic but now that's pretty rubbish as well.

Weapon balance is just not a thing in Destiny PVP.

Not too far into the campaign mode yet but already I can see this is a great Advance Wars type strategy game, perhaps not quite as polished as AW but anyone familiar with Nintendo's classic series will feel right at home with this.

Dead Cells - just so good. I'm getting better at it and starting to make progress towards the final boss.

The problem at the moment with Destiny Crucible is that the quest in question is impeded by defeat. You won't your players to feel like they are working and progressing towards something, and not have any progress they do make taken away.

It's confounded by the fact that their matchmaking is wobbily, and you often come up against teams. That's compounded even further by the fact that anyone with a clan is going to try and play with them and not solo queue.

And then the icing on that cake is the prevalence of Luna's Howl and Not Forgotten - two weapons rewarded last season for a long Crucible grind and that many of the best players have. So the best players now have a slightly bigger advantage.

I don't mind Crucible, though tend to play it when clanmates drag me in. I'm decent in that I have K/D over 1.0 which not a lot of players do, but I'm very much mindling after that. I don't have those quest weapons and likely never will.

They could definitely make Crucible a more welcoming place for newbies.

It's never going to be as good as Halo 2 in its pomp, due to all the other directions the game gets dragged in, but it could definitely be improved. I don't actually think it's that bad, just quests like this tend to frustrate most of the playerbase, except those who are regularly dominating anyway.

Nothing

I really want a game to play, I have not played anything this year (apart from iPad/mobile games) it’s just nothing at the moment is appealing to me

Having completed the quest (autorifles, breakneck especially, was the key) I actually agree with this. It can actually be fun but, like Peter, I've never gotten the hang of shotguns so I'm immediately at a disadvantage.

Unfortunately it looks like my clan has had a bit of a breakdown. Tonight was the weekly PvP evening, which I don't take part in because of reasons that should be clear, but no one turned up. The admin got super salty, set up a new discord, moved everyone to that and kicked everyone from the old one.

As far as I understand the original discord channel was for her online friends group and she tried to integrate the clan into that. She then got annoyed when people weren't engaging and this was the final straw.

Me and a few of the original members are now part of both discords, and the admin is talking about setting up a new clan for the old discord.

It's all rather messy, and a bit of a shame. I liked that place :(

If they want Exotic quests to be hard-won and not just a case of numbers ticking up, like the Breakneck and fusion rifle quests from this season, then there are better ways to do it than punishing defeats. A quest like this shouldn't be any harder on solo players than it has to be too.

They could do stuff like having to get 50 multikills, or X number of times where they kill five guardians in a single life or something.

You're still rewarding skill and good players will get it quicker, but mediocre ones can watch progress slowly tick up, not having the fear of failure cripple them and not be massively punished by one bad game.

Part of the Malfeasance quest actually encouraged players to play Gambit well, wrong. The first step is to bank motes, with lost motes counting as double the negative value. This meant you still get players bouncing around depositing 2 or 3 motes at a time, terrified of losing even 1 and completely robbing the mode of its purpose.

Yeah I didn't have any trouble with that quest as it was easy to be naturally cautious. However, I would bank 3 motes if I was running past the machine rather than go hunt two more down for a blocker.

They had a similar quest step for Thorn back in D1 too. I understand making it more dependent on skill or performance, but you should encourage excellence not discourage failure.

I'm still on that first stage as playing with randoms makes winning matches a crapshoot. I haven't really been trying that hard though.

A Link to the Past on the Wii U VC. A few years and it'll be celebrating its 30 anniversary. It's the GOAT.

And the clan drama continues. The secondary, Destiny only server that was set up after the clan split from the original admin was in turn closed by the new admin as everyone was being a dick to the old one. The kicked members then created a new, new server and have apparently been given ownership of the clan in-game.

I have no idea what's going on.

My gaming time is still very much solely Switch based, i’m going between New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe and Captain Toad: Tresure Tracker

Love both games, I played both on Wii U but it’s great revisiting them! I’m trying to collect all the Diamonds per level on CP:TT but with NSMBUD i’m just trying to beat all the levels/bosses first and then i’ll go back and collect the coins to get Star Road another time.

Getting the Champions Ballad done on Zelda before going to beat Ganon again, then I think it’ll be time to rest BoTW for a while.

Got Shadow of the Tomb Raider free with game pass so thought I'd give it a go.

Loved the second one, didn't really like the first. The third though is an odd game. A terrible and flat opening, boring story, the need to constantly switch to batman vision to see anything important, terrible clunky and boring. I actually started getting into it with the upgrades and stuff then ... Flash back and I'm playing young lara. Did that for a bit then thought. Nope, not for me. Uninstalled and back to Dead Cells. Which for a game in which you die thousands of times and have to repeat the same levels.... Is not as repetitive or boring as Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
