Have this on standby ready for when I've completed FC5 (which I'm about 50% through the story). Didn't read up much on New Dawn. Wasn't aware it had base building. Cool.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - Fairly far into this now. It's certainly a very impressive achievement with the world around you feeling very interactive and alive with so many emergent events popping up and things to do. In terms of missions there's a good amount of variety and the story and writing has for the most part held interest. Still, the game is now beginning to outstay its welcome as I become a little tired of crossing vast sections of the map or sitting through more 'cinematic' cut-scenes of the environment. If I had to score this now it'd probably be an 8/10 as it's very good if a little too big and bloated at times for my tastes.

Telltale Batman: The Enemy Within on PS4. This is decent but having a played a few Telltale series so close to each other fatigue is starting to set in.

Yeah I see that.
Stick with it though - this one climaxes brilliantly

Still FC5, but also began Metro 2033 Redux on PC this evening.

Far Cry New Dawn, unlocked the final tier of weapons and got a few of them. It's very enjoyable to use the super powerful stuff and keep upgrading the base, my character, my pet and weapons. Not sure how much longer I'll last in it but while I'm here it's much more fun that far cry 5.

I didn't like how quickly I got the best weapons in fc5, it gave me nothing to work towards.

It doesn't feel like a post war world though, more of the same far cry word. I'd have preferred mutants or something.

Gone back to Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright after leaving it untouched for years, I'm nearing the end of the game now I think. I'm about 15 hours in and it's a great game, it's certainly a better Ace Attorney that it is a Layton game as the puzzles are far too easy and far too few. But the idea of Layton and Wright working together is a fantastic idea and I hope they go back a do another sometime or at least bring the original 6 layton games to Switch/

Still proper plodding my way through Mafia 3, Getting 100% on RDR 2 plus a bit of the online and more primarily Apex coming out of nowhere have hindered progress somewhat but think I am getting towards the end now.

Can see why it got such a critical bashing now as it's repetitive as anything the combats crap and it's still a buggy mess even now. It's a shame as it does a lot of stuff better than a lot of other games. It's acting and story have remained superb throughout.

Always tempted by this title (having played the main 6 PW games and 2 of the PL titles), but the cost for it seems to remain sky high. With all the titles in my backlog i just cant justify it :(

Joy-killer time: I thought that the Layton stuff dragged down the Wright stuff. Worse characters, worse art, much worse ending (standard arse-pull Layton stuff, but doesn’t sit well with Wright), and the puzzles were a bit shown up against the courtroom drama. The best part of the game was the tutorial court case before the two meet, which says it all to be honest.

Scotch the idea, give us Wright x Sissel instead. Or just AA7/AAI2/TGAA on Switch.

I was slightly disappointed by it. I would agree that the Layton aspects dragged the whole experience down. It's still a decent game.

Spider-Man on PS4. Quite enjoying this so far not sure how far I am through it, I was just evicted and had to kip at the homeless shelter. For the most part I’ve been concentrating on collectibles and side missions as they become available.

Not that far! Also a tip if you want to go for the easy but time consuming platinum make sure you mop up any crimes as you go and "ping" using R3 which seems to make them pop quicker. If you don't do this you'll find yourself with a massive slog of them at the end. I went back to this last night and did the first dlc which I enjoyed, more of the same but condensed into 3 hours. Going to finish the other 2 over the weekend.

I've been also been playing Hellblade and Batman Arkham Asylum via Game Pass. I signed up for the 2 months for £2 so figured I'd get my moneys worth after finishing Crackdown 3 at the weekend which was the only reason for signing up!

FC5. Another region liberated
(Faith's)
One more to go
(Jacob's)
before facing the main man. Not sure how that will play out. Perhaps another region? I'll know soon enough.

Been away from Destiny for a while but the new season began yesterday so I've popped back in. So far, I'm not sure. It seems to me to be a very similar loop to Black Armoury: play one mode to get resources, use those resources to win armour. The difference here is that there's no grind to unlock anything (good) and it involves a new version of Gambit. Of which I'm... unsure.

Gambit Prime is, at the moment, a more grindy version of Gambit. The aim seems less to be the first team to get a Primeval and more on strawberry floating the other team over by stealing motes and invading more often. The new Primeval bosses also require you to take down other boss mobs to open a damage phase. The games I played were either immediate win/losses or slow, crunching battles of attrition, slowly grinding down the boss' health before it gets raised by invader kills, slowly grinding it down again until it finally dies.

The Reckoning is just another horde mode without the gimmicks of the Forges or Blind Well. It's a little dull, to be honest...not particularly difficult, no interesting features.

I dunno. I didn't like the BA stuff to begin with but ended up loving it. Maybe this'll go the same way.

Dirt Rally 2 (XB1X version). Not too impressed with this - it doesn't feel like much of a leap forward from Dirt 4 tbh and it seems a bit stingy on the content. I bought the Season Pass, so we'll see, but I've heard that much of the DLC will simply be rehashed tracks from the previous Dirt Rally game. It's a bit shabby.

I just wish they'd go to some exciting locations. One thing V-Rally 4 got right was its choice of locations - the Africa-based tracks are a joy.

So it's all a bit ho-hum. Competent, fairly enjoyable, but really nothing remarkable.

Instead of starting RE Revelations 2 I've decided to play through Code Veronica X again as I had the urge when I saw its available on Xbox One BC (and the fact I own it), so why not.

Enjoying it lot more this time, since I'm not gluing my eyes to guides (I did before because I was scared :slol: ) although there are few issues:

- It doesn't look good on background stuff
- Some puzzles are tricky, but some are... Just easy. I didn't understand one puzzles wording, but saw two of same thing, tried that and got it right...
- Targetting is improved, but for bats/dogs it's still hassle to hit them. I run away if I can.
- no subtitles. I mean I expected it, but id hoped they'd bother adding in subtitles for HD remaster...

It's less remaster and more just porting the game to 360/PS3.

Still, it's good fun! Think I'm near end of Claire's section.

V-Rally 4 has some good locations throughout (Japan being another good example) compared to most racers which just regurgitate the same real life tracks over and again.

Gears of War 2 (XB1X) - Its great fun, enjoying it more than the remake of the 1st one (which i played a few weeks ago and also really enjoyed). This one feels like there is a lot more variation in it, and more memorable set pieces.

The Swapper (XB1X) - Loving this, has a great atmosphere and the puzzles are really taxing (or at least they are for me), but are contained enough to know what area you should be focusing in. I get the impression my overall playtime is going to be a lot longer than that listed on HLtB. Also works great with a podcast on through the Xbox at the same time via Spotify. I can totally multitask.....

I regularly listen to podcasts while playing Sea of Thieves, there's a few dedicated podcast apps and radio apps (free) as well that work in background.
