Here we go, thread for 2019.

Keep game discussion to a minimum (create a new thread if you need to talk in depth about a particular game).

Carry on xoxo

Copied from 2018 thread:

Oxygen Not Included

After a quick 45 minute go on this I can tell I'm going to spend quite some time playing this, mainly because I have no idea what I'm doing and the game doesn't exactly hold your hand, it just dumps you in at the deep end and says "here's your tools, now build a space colony".

Edit: just watched a tutorial for the first few hours of gameplay and good God this game looks complicated.

Busy on the second year of Grim Fandango. I think I've just inadvertently started a revolution? Still struggling with a couple of the puzzles. Spending ages wandering around until I've figured what I need to use on what :slol:

While looking into tower defence games, I came across one that does the opposite. A tower offence game, to name it more accurately. Anomaly: Warzone Earth plays the tower defence in reverse while still keeping strategy a key part, and it's definitely keeping me entertained.

My gaming time in 2018 was mostly dominated by 3 games, so this year I wanted to play more things, which means making sure every now and then I play something short, something that can be done in one sitting. Today I've done two of those, with I Expect You To Die on PSVR, and also Limbo. Feels good to start the year with already getting some thing off the 'backlog'.

Going to play Killzone HD next. Never played a Killzone game and was going to skip over this and just play 2 and 3, but it doesn't seem that long, so will give it a try.

Red Dead Redemption 2, or rather, the online mode.

I don't love it as I do with first game's or even GTA Online, but it's entertaining enough. I'm rubbish at it though especially people can just headshot me easily... But yeah.

Gonna return to Resi 7 soon, sometime this week. Definitely on weekend at least

You could say the same for most of LucasArts games. Some puzzles are very illogical, and most of my time was wandering back and fro places until I get something different, or even a hint (which never happens.)

And this was wayyyyyy before the internet.

Dusk

Took just over 4 hours to complete episode 1 with around 70% of secrets found. Now onto episode 2. One new weapon (the last of 8 in total) and a few new monster types and variations.

Slain: Back From Hell

I got stuck on a boss and must have died around 20 times. Then I accidentally switched back to the standard sword from the fire sword and discovered this was the weapon to use as it did a lot more damage. Took three more attempts and beat the bastard.

I died within the first ten seconds on the next stage after triggering a trap.

Well, my second attempt at Oxygen Not Included ended up being a total washout as my starting location didn't have enough much needed oxygenating plants and all three of my intrepid crew suffocated in their sleep.

I feel like each failure teaches me something new about the game so it wasn't a waste of time.

Quite a few things - RDR 2 - Done the main story doing collectibles challenges side stories etc. Probably more fun than that actual main game. Also dabbling with the Online element which tbh is totally bare bones when compared to GTA Online bar a few nice additions like a Story and a lot more NPC's

BLOPS 4 - Which interestingly has no thread on this forum, Gave up playing COD many years ago but seeing as Blackout interested me, loads of people I know play it and it was crazy cheap at £30 in Tesco in November ( I can still sell for a healthy profit ) I thought I'd give it a go. Although I've about had me fill I've got to say it is actually very good. Blackout obviously the main attraction, best battle Royal game I've played although admittedly the building element is what puts me off Fortnite.

Dabbling with Child of Light and Ratchet and Clank when the kids are about as well, Child of light is actually very quaint little game.

Fallout 76 is still in it's wrapper :dread:

Still fooling about in Rainbow Six: Siege (PS4 Pro version)...after all this time. I bought into all three yearly passes over time as I enjoy the offline solo 'Lone Wolf' mode and will never unlock all the Operators without the passes. Damn, those bombers still irritate me, though! The game would be so much less stressful without the constant danger of them suiciding in front of me at a moment's notice. I do think the devs should have given us solo players - the few that we are - the option to play without them present in the maps. I know there are strategies and tactics to use against them - but I just go into a blind panic, forget everything and end up decorating the walls.

I did try online recently. Never. Again. This is upper-echelon gaming, even on Casual MP. I mean these guys really know what they're about - and woe-betide you if you're even a little clueless. After the first round, there was a vote to kick me off the team. It was a miserable affair. :(

Playing online can be awful at times, particularly with clique environments. Some players are like drivers screaming at the person in front of them sporting an L plate. They forget they were beginers at one time.

The thought did occur to me, but then I remembered that at this stage in the game's career I'm in probably very much in the minority and I just don't think there's any willingness for regular, seasoned players to babysit n00bs. The online MP is such a skill-heavy, team-based game. I think it's even an e-sport with tournaments, etc. But you do have a good point: how is anyone ever supposed to learn if nobody's willing to cut them a break?

An unwillingness to invite noobs into a game and help them to be better players says quite a bit about the mentality of online gamers.

Essentially you are dealing with these types:

Southpark were bang on the money.

Wouldn't agree with that, surely the mentality of any grown adult is to not waste their time teaching people they have never met or have any affinity to how to play a computer game better or voluntarily play with someone they have never met or have any affinity to who is going to lower their chances of winning, especially in a game like Siege. I certainly wouldn't.

I wouldn't send them abuse or grief them either of course, if you play an online game where you choose to get a random team mate you get what you are given and accept everyone is at different levels and be tolerant, pretty sure everyone's finished bottom of a leader board at one point or another.

Playing through RDR2 Single-player.

Still prefer RDR1 and to some extent GTA V, but it's still fun experience. Random encounters and generally doing small stuff when travelling around helps a lot as honestly right now there's not much to do. Think I'm near end of C2

You...you guys remember that Cal's a Milo-worshipping alt-right shitlord, right? He probably got a kick request because he was ranting about climate change being a Chinese conspiracy to endanger the livelihood of white men.
