Metro Exodus.

Not enjoying this at all, although I'm only about an hour in. It's strawberry floating gorgeous, but that's about the extent of the enjoyment I've gotten from it. The cutscenes are infuriatingly long, the motion capture and voice acting are like something from an amateur dramatics production, the terrible stealth sections are... terrible and the gunplay is sluggish and unresponsive.

I've just hit the first open world bit, so maybe it'll get better?

The first two Metro games are excellent from the get-go. Does this not compare then?

The gunplay is similar, and the opening of Exodus is suitably atmospheric, but everything else is a mess at this point.

Like I say, I'm just getting started but I'm not having fun.

That's a real shame to hear. I loved the previous games.

Just listened to the Waypoint podcast from a few weeks back and was happy (?) to hear that they too hated the opening of Exodus.

I cannot overstate how terrible the dialogue is.

Done a lot more on starlink, it's fun. But not sure if I really like it. I'm playing on PS4, and wish I had Fox to play as.

Started Far Cry New Dawn, surprisingly tough but the same classic gameplay. I didn't really like far cry 5 but this seems better with more upgrades and a better loop.

Wish my image sig would work

DOA 6. So far, so good. Some nice new elements brought into the combat. Game looks lovely too.

You know what? Another hour or so in, and Exodus does get better. As soon as it stops forcing you to sit through uninteresting cutscenes and holding your hand to an absurd degree it gets straight back on track. Even the stealth mechanics work as intended. Just been through a few setpiece encounters which were very good fun indeed.

Slow starter then. Different type of game, but HZD really didn't grab me for the first hour or so but once you're out of the introduction and left to explore the world it becomes a fantastic game.

So, Far Cry 5 is a LOT of fun and it's visually it's up with the best on X, it's sumptuous, capturing the hazy summer light, the sand dust blowing across roads, mud puddles gathering water, the grass cascading into the distance across rolling fields and the lighting in forests makes some of these scenes photo realistic. I found it to be very addictive, the move to hope county breathes life into it and with the mini map finally axed it's a game that lets you off the leash to do anything you want. The gunplay is the best it's ever been but the cars, something FC gets wrong are fantastic.

I also uploaded earlier AC Odyssey save and bug is gone. Going from FC 5 to AC Odyssey really is a feast for the eyes, Ubisoft do open world very well. My main problem with AC odyssey is how wooden and badly animated your horse is, it didn't bother me in AC Origins but since completing that and playing this I've played a lot of RDR2, and the horse mechanics and animations are light years above anything else, it really feels that's it's an actual horse, a seperate entity rather than your character bolted on like in AC. Some if the angles you can get your horse into are similar to Skyrim.

With the announcement of gen 8 of Pokémon I’ve had the sudden itch to play it again, so I thought I’d play a game from each generation (although as I’ve lost my copy of Ruby, Omega Ruby will have to do!), at least it gives my 3DS a nice send off. I reckon my playthrough of the series will look something similar to this,

Pokémon Red (currently playing)
Pokémon Crystal
Pokémon Omega Ruby
Pokémon Pearl
Pokémon White 2
Pokémon Y
Pokémon Ultra Moon

I liked me.pokemons, but I couldn't play 7 games on a row. TBH, I couldn't do that with any series of games with getting bored and then maybe disliking the.series.

I’ll probably take a break between games to try and stop that happening or if I do get bored I’ll just stop and patiently wait for gen 8 to release.

100%. The intro is perhaps one of the worst starts to a game I've seen in ages, forcing you to sit through boring characters talking about boring things, badly voice acted and mocapped. I'd say the Russian language option is mandatory this time round.

The intro to Exodus goes on for far too long but once you're on the train it's fantastic, best in the series. There's two open maps, one that's sort of open and another two bits that are straight up Metro 1/2.

I wouldn't recommend playing it in Russian though since, like the previous two games, they still haven't subbed all of the little side conversations and stuff so you'll miss out on some story that way.

I didn't have a problem with the dialogue though, didn't seem better or worse than the previous games.

I'm sad they didn't subtitle the side conversation. Cue me sitting at spot for ages looking at people talking until I get flash in Last Light...

I genuinely can't stand the English VOs and would rather miss out on side convos than have it. Anna is a deeply terrible character but at least in Russian I can tune her out.

But yes, the mission in the terminal and to retrieve the passenger car were quite excellent.

EDIT; Another weird thing... Non-cutscene conversations between characters can go on for aaaaaages. Oftentimes there'll be a convo that'll roll on for 6-7 minutes. None of it is good, but it does inspire FOMO of you wander off.

EDIT 2: But goddamn it's an amazing looking game.

I guess it answers the question of just how important a story in a video game really is. Not all that important it would seem. Just let me play dammit!

Far Cry New Dawn - getting more into it and loving the base building and raiding their bases. I've got a weird glitchy thing though. My left stick seems to randomly turn my character left, like a full rotate for no reason. Maybe I'm pressing it or its overly sensitive.

Shadow Complex Remastered

This game is so strawberry floating janky.
