Resident Evil 0 (Xbone)

RE origins arrived today so I figured I'd start RE0 as it's been ages since my first playthrough, initially I did want to replay it but being wuss I kept putting it off until Resi 2 remake made me want to go Resi proper go, so here I am.

I'm enjoying it but oh boy it's frustrating in places, and I'm struggling on health resources because I have two, not one characters to look after and some of enemies are just annoying to face.

At least it now has subtitles so it's nice to be able to understand the story this time!

May Payne 3

I've gone back to this after a bit of a hiatus. I'm enjoying it, and it's a good game, but doesn't feel like a Max Payne game.
I like the environments and the shooting is solid, but I rarely have the need for bullet-time. Also, the plot really isn't that interesting, and the writing is pretty bad.
It's a solid game in its own right, but it didn't need the Max Payne association, and presumably that was just done for 'brand' recognition.

Halo CE (on MCC, Xbox One X).

Lots of nostalgia for me with this one - I got Halo on release day with the Xbox. Nice to go back to it, and I still get lost.... A lot. So I haven't got any brighter. That's reassuring.

The enhanced visuals are lovely, but it's incredible how good the original assets still look in 4k. The 60fps really make it feel quite modern too. And that enemy AI keeps it really involving (when your not lost).

Just about to try Motorsport Manager which has just launched on the Switch, I’ve played it a little before when I bought the PC version when it was down to a few quid but as I never really game on my PC I’m hoping I get more enjoyment out of the Switch version even though it is meant to be much more like the mobile version of the games (but I haven’t played any of those so I can’t really compare them) which seem to be well received as well.

I’ve also been playing some Gran Turismo over the past couple of days, still enjoyable to drive but I find myself just enjoying doing time trials on various circuits rather than playing the career mode or online, lapping the Nurburgring ring in anything is enjoyable :)

Played a little more of Spider-Man this evening. I’ve just been clearing the Thug and Demon crimes in each sector of the map. I’ve been drinking and I don’t want a repeat of FFXV where under similar circumstances I forgot the story and had to start over.

Wanting a bit break from RE series before I start REmake, so I've booted up Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishment. I enjoyed Jack Ripper one on 360 even if it was rough, however this felt lot more improved and fun - obviously, it's not amazing but for free it's decent enough to go through once. On Case 4 at the moment, so halfway to the end.

Was playing Shadow Complex, but I realised I was getting more and more annoyed by it, so I quit.

Really enjoying Motorsport Manager, certainly worth just under the £10 I paid for it.

I bought Death Road to Canada on Switch. Great music, great styling... but I'm not sure about the gameplay. It's a rogue game i.e. randomised and the drive / collect / bash premise is good, but it's hard to fight off the zombies (you swing the weapon really slowly) and - the crunch point - you seem to get totally random "zombie horde" moments where you have to survive for a set period of time. And twice I've had that period announced as two hours. WTF?!? . It's thus impossible and the game ends.

I shall give it more goes and hope that I get further into it... but at the moment it feels a little disappointing.

...uhm, that's "in-game" time, not real time  :fp: .

I played a bit more and lasted a little longer. It is pretty neat but I gotta adjust my mindset to see that dying / restarting is a part of the game. Fighting can get very messy - "what is going on!?" - but I think you need to try and skirt around zombies where possible rather than get bogged down by a few of them.

I don't know how to save the game, though; there are save slots (you select one when you start a game) but there isn't any obvious way of saving whilst you're playing.

...right, a bit more play and I'm getting into it! Just made my longest survival run yet; lots of totally random stuff in terms of luck, but I'm starting to get the hang of avoiding zombies where possible and running around furniture to block their pathway. If you get caught by a few of 'em, it usually means a quick death.

The fun factor is kicking in; I really dig the silly banter, pixel graphics and jaunty music tracks. Still can't locate a save option, though.

Yoku's Island Express (Demo) - I've been experimenting with an onscreen controller and decided to see if I could get it to work reasonably well with something a little different to the racing games it was mostly intended for and it seems to have been a success - I managed to successfully finish the demo version so I went ahead and bought the full game.

Bit more RE2 today. Just plodding through it.

Going to start New Dawn later this evening.

Yoku's Island Express is bloody lovely, I haven't played anything quite like it.

Some of the pinball bits are a little fiddly using the onscreen controls I'm using but I seem to be managing so far.

I bought this on sale last year and only had the briefest of goes, does anything carry over from 1 run to the next?

GT has kept one simple thing that games like forza have forgotten - local per-track leaderboards that track anything you drive on them. Forza got hooked on online rivals modes in set cars/classes but only keeps your fastest times. Sometimes you want a top gear-style leaderboard of everything in one place.

It does sound cool, Ironhide, and I've thought about getting it a few times now. The thing that has put me off is how packed with colour the screen appears, as I have a degree of colour-blindness and so the overall image looks unclear to me. I hadn't realised there is a demo so I could try that out. Hold it! This means that I can legitimately post "i may download demos tomorrow"!!! :toot:  :toot:  :toot: .

It does, Milner - you can spend any Zombie Points collected on building characters with better skills. When I first played the game I didn't think that I was going to like it but, after an hour or two, I'm finding it to be very moreish... I woke up this morning thinking that I deffo want to play it further.

I used three Zombie Points to purchase the Sound Sleeper trait. I've applied it to a new char... let's see how long I survive on the Death Road :toot: .

Edit: I might make up other chars based on GRcadians  .
Edit: The music ROCKS HARD :datass: .

Stuck on Saints Row 4 after ditching Shadow Complex.

I still love it, it's Crackdown but way more awesome. Looks decent enough running on my PC as well.

So far, so good.
