After picking up a PS4 Pro I am now tackling way too many games at once and so I'm basically going to pause on everything else and concentrate on my new PS4 purchases:

First up was Spider-Man ... although despite this being the game that I bought with the console I've barely touched it so far, looks lovely though and I'm looking forward to jumping back in.

Next I downloaded a series that I had always admired from afar (having skipped the PS3 generation) - Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection! This is fun so far, I'm on to chapter 6 I think - I love how it all just runs together with no pauses between sections, helps keep things flowing. The controls are a bit loose and the fights against the bullet sponge enemies are a bit lacking, but it's still been a great ride so far and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!

Finally I've started up a first run at Bloodborne! I really had fun with my recent DS1 play through and have heard that this is right up there in terms of the rankings of the "soulsborne" games so I'm hopefully in for a treat. So far it feels great and I'm enjoying the different aesthetic compared to the more traditional knights and dragons stylings of DS!

Uncharted combat is improved a lot by you always picking up the powerful but limited ammo weapons like sniper rifles and the strong handguns (whatever they are). Use them on the otherwise bullet sponge enemies and you rarely end up sinking much ammo into any single target, because the games are generous with giving you those weapons.

The shotguns also have a lot more weight to them than the rifles, so it can be more fun to use those.

Yeah I've started being more free with what I grab weapon-wise, just rolling with what I can grab and ditching it when necessary. Had some cool fights with some kind of grenade launcher and a high powered pistol at one point which were very enjoyable to use! :D

You won't even try to follow BB lore, so you'll miss out on so much

Oh, is there lore in this one then? :P

I shall devote all of my attention to the deep backstory, themes and hidden narratives presented by the title and make sure to prepare a detailed exegesis on the lore for your approval on completion. ;)

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing
I played Transformed a while back and loved it, so thought I'd give the original a go as I was hankering for a bit of kart racing.
It's pretty good, enjoying the mix of Grand Prix and Missions, with plenty to work towards and unlock. Perfect kind of game to play when you only get 20-30 minutes here and there. The number of tracks seems a bit limited, but nothing too bad. Also Big The Cat - I've no idea who this character is or what game they're from, but everything about it is awful.

Fable III
Still playing this. I still think it's an okay game, but the issues are becoming more prevalent. The quests aren't that enjoyable, and combat gets tedious when it's always groups of enemies and there are tonnes of them. I just want to explore but constantly have to fight bandits, hobbes, hollow men, or balverines. It's not just a couple of them either, sometimes there can be 10-15 enemies. It gets old fast. Also, the framerate is appalling at times. Will keep going to the end for sure, but I think I'll take fewer quests and just focus on the main story.

Big the cat is from Sonic Adventure. He is awful and so are his levels and gameplay.

The New Colossus

Given Youngblood's pretty awful reception in the gaming press I've gone back to this and my feelings are as mixed as ever.

The moment to moment gunplay and level design are a massive step back from The New Order. The guns often feel unsatisfying (the shotgun being the exception) and the level design is so very very bad at indicating progression that even here during my third playthrough I'm getting hopelessly lost on a regular basis.

The story is better than ever though. I just reached the game's big moment and it's breathtaking how well it's executed; each character is drawn incredibly well given their often short amounts of screentime, BJ's monologues are just as whimsically philosophical as ever and the overall plot is great.

I just wish it played better.

That's really interesting, I thought the exact opposite. Gameplay and level design was slightly better, story significantly worse. I felt like the characters lacked the weight that they had. The story was completely all over the place.

Can't stand the levels in Colossus. There're lots of mini arenas that aren't fun to fight in and have poorly relayed exit points.

Switch for time being. Past few days I've been mixing it up with Doom (great game, gooseberry fool "needing to be online" bullshit), Car Quest (boring in long sessions, but okay ish in small bursts), BoTW (fun, but I don't love it as much as others does here) and SMM2 (which I've been playing lot of)

Whenever my bf isn't playing on Fire Emblem 3H, I'll be playing that assuming I'm not busy. Still early days but I'm having lot of fun with it.

Voodoo Vince on XBOX. Just defeated the first boss who was more of an environmental puzzle than a boss. Enjoying the game so far but like in a lot of other similar 3D platformers it can be a massive nuisance trying to find the last few collectables in each level.

Started to play Mark of the Ninja: Remastered on Nintendo Switch I played the original release of this on 360. It’s as good as I remembered it but I am so pony at trying to play stealthily  only a few missions in but it’s great fun.

Spiderman on a PS4 Pro.

It's pretty good, but it's not great. It is like a lot of other games I've played before. The overall package is very well made, but it doesn't really seem to excel in anything. Combat feels a bit cheap at times, and outside the story/side missions (which are good) the environmental missions have felt pretty dull and trivial (As a serial XP grinder I've done a lot of them too).

Certainly well worth the £25 I spent on it and as I get better at swinging around, it's growing on me, but I'm yet to feel like a kickass superhero. Which is basically all I want. THWAP!

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Fire Emblem Warriors - very enjoyable grind through history mode. I never get stuck for long as I move to another map and work on something else.

Wish my image sig would work

Conkers Live and Reloaded - Xbox One

I was about ready to give up on this during the lava race segment which has to be the most a game has frustrated me in years - bad controls and bad collision detection don't make for a lot of fun. Fortunately on about my 50th attempt I actually did it so I've played on a bit farther. Not a huge amount left to go but I'll be glad go be done with it, the story is good fun but many of the games mechanics have not aged well at all.

Started playing Final Fantasy XII on Switch for the first time ever. Not got a huge history with the series, liked VII, loved IX, didn't get on with X and was one of the few who actually quite liked XIII. Anyway, my limited playtime on XII has been pretty good. Aside from the setting, I'm getting serious FFTA vibes. Not sure why, might be the mix of races coupled with the ability to set jobs for the main characters. Really liking the flexibility and the customisation options this will give me down the line. Doesn't look too shabby either for a game that's over a decade old and the structure of the open world seem very similar to something like XC2.

Yeah FFTA and FFXII are both from director Yasumi Matsuno and are set in the same world of Ivalice (which also shows up in some of his other work as well) which probably explains part of the similar vibes! There's definitely a more strategic and methodical approach to the gameplay in his games as well. Along with plenty of similar story themes.

I never really got on with FFXII back on the PS2 but have been really enjoying the Switch release. :toot:

Nearing the end of Cadence of Hyrule, just got Hyrule Castle to finish. I think I’ve gotten nearly gotten everything except the Rito Feather, which I need to get the last piece of heart (as I can’t see any other way to obtain it other than jumping into the air to avoid one of the directional pads that blocks your progress), also can’t for the life of me find one of the mini dungeons in the overworld to see if said item is hidden in there, or if it’s hidden in the chest after another puzzle that seems to require the Rito Feather :fp:

Edit, beaten it now, very good overall, now onto the next game :)

I'm enjoying being back on the Original Map in State of Decay 2's Heartland DLC (DLC also free on gamepass). Having written characters is great as the general banter and interactions are all tied to their different stories. You also get gifted one of the biggest bases to set up too. The only problem is, the game is ROCK hard, now, If I had been playing SoD for a while non stop no, doubt I'd enjoy the difficulty curve but coming back in fresh, with all the Z's being blood plague it has a double whammy effect of being harder generally but also, with all Z's being red it's kinda bland. I've already lost a main character which is very unlike me. Special note out to the patches, it's been patched constantly, especially recently which has decreased it's overall size in terms of space it takes up but it runs (on X1X) now beautifully.

I've also gave Oblivion a go, I loved it back in the day and it's 4K on X1X so it looks pretty good. My god the intro quests take SOOOOOO long, I hate the Oblivion gates, I whacked down the difficulty and got it done but after about 3hrs I'm only now starting the game proper.
