I am absolutely loving and hating Wonderful 101. It is bonkers, frustrating, hilarious and a lazy port all wrapped up into one unique experience. I'm glad they got it on Switch but man they should have spent more time tidying up some of the Gamepad heavy sections. Their solution is not good.

Alan Wake
Very close to giving up on this. Alan's such a dull character. But the plot's kind of intriguing, so I decide to push on, only to continually have to endure the awful combat sections. Alan can barely run, his dodge is useless, the torch/gun thing is tedious...it's just a chore. And those sections are so frequent that it just ruins the rest of the game (which itself isn't really good enough to make it worth pushing through the combat sections). Might give it one more go, or just forget about it and move on.

I played AW last year and loved it. Really suprised by your view of the combat. I always found it involving, though a touch easy on the default difficulty level.

It's a great story and has a wonderful atmosphere, but if you are really hating the combat there is a lot of it to endure.

I also enjoyed the combat, the dodge works really well.

Yeah the dodge feels great in Alan Wake and is essential if you want to survive.

Getting my arse constantly handed to me in Ghost of Tsushima. (Reminders on parrying and dodging would be nice, SuckerPunch!  :fp: )

Reminders? There's literally a flash of light every time you need to dodge/parry.

Mortal Kombat XI Ultimate
Got the PS4 after enjoying the Switch version, this has all the dlc and extra story. Fantastic fighter and the added Characters such as Terminator and Robocop are a blast to play. A lot of content too, and the Krypt is great even if it feels a bit like a mobile game when it comes to unlocking stuff.

I really got back into MK11 in November and was even winning 50% of my fights online but, as always, I just drifted away before I really started to get good.

Dead by Daylight has completely taken over my online gaming at the minute. Must've played 12 hours of it in the past day alone

My last death was pretty funny. Got cocky after taking 3 down. Had the 4th and final one on the ropes, so decided to get some needed parry practices out of him. Got killed on the 3rd attempt. I did much better during the next two fights though! No deaths. Even took down a leader.

I meant button presses. I thought the flash of light was for unblockable attacks which have to be dodged. (I had the button press for that but forgot about pressing a direction to dodge.)

Ah my bad, you can unlock perks later on that allow you to parry those unblockable moves so I'd forgotten you couldn't parry them at first.

No worries. And yeah, I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw the talent trees

Alan Wake
I forced myself to get along with this and I think now, having adjusted to the crap factor where the combat's concerned, am enjoying it more. I spent 2-3 hours on it yesterday, and will probably try and finish it off tonight. There are still lots of issues, but I've resigned myself to not enjoying the combat and just getting through those sections. The rest of it is decent enough to make it worthwhile I think.
