I beat the first couple of major bosses with relative ease but quickly hit a brick wall after reaching City of Tears. I can't kill the boss near there nor can I kill another boss I found in the Mantis Village.

Not really sure where I should be headed next, maybe gather money so I can buy the lantern as I know that opens up a couple of routes to me.

Yeah, I'm not as far as you but still a few hours in and I'm not sure I'm enjoying it enough. Visually, it's very repetitive, and I'm not sure I enjoy the frustration of going back to save points from these types of games. I don't have find the controls that satisfying either, not sure if that's because I haven't unlocked enough abilities.

For me it's crying out for a dodge button that lets you roll through attacks with some I-frames. There's a dash but you are still vulnerable when using it.

There's an upgrade that gives the dash iframes

Ah okay, cool! I guess I'll persist with it for now then. I'm close to buying the lamp but there are at least two other things I could investigate either the manhole in City of Tears or returning to the start of the game.

Just played through Until Dawn for the first time. What a trip! Love horror films so I really enjoyed it as an experience

I played it for the first time earlier this year and really enjoyed it, it totally nails the vibe it was going for.

I'm going to do a "perfect" playthrough for Halloween this year I think.

I've done two runs of Until Dawn, one perfect run and one close but no cigar run where I did everything perfectly until the final scene where I deliberately let everyone die.

Doom Eternal - it's bloody awesome. Plasma rifle seems a bit over powered but the game is so so good. Flows so well and it's just pure gameplay.

Wish my image sig would work

Planet Zoo- My PC is way out of date, so it runs like a sack of spuds and looks like one too, but God I love a good zoo sim.

Gonna build a new PC in a few weeks time, then it'll run like *chef's kiss*

I’m completely into Witcher 3 now. I found out I abandoned it in 2015 which would mean my daughter would have been 1 year old. No wonder I sacked it off because the time investment required is astounding.
Currently Level 11 and have a gooseberry fool load to do in Velen. I’ve decided to commit to every decision I make which has led to a couple of ‘strawberry float’ moments but the greyness of characters’ morals and motivations really should be applauded.
strawberry floating love Gwent.
Only thing that bothers me is the staggeringly large amount of crafting and alchemy materials. I really want to prepare for each monster encounter ‘correctly’ but I never have the right stuff for the oil or potion needed. I end up leaving the fight alone, thinking I’ll end up with the ingredients somewhere down the line. Everything’s so bloody expensive at shops and I never have much money. What I do have I spend on Gwent cards I need for the collection or repairing my equipment.
20 mins until the kids’ bedtime and then I’m off adventuring again. The wife’s doing a virtual book club meet-up :toot:

Disco Elysium

The storytelling and writing in this game has instantly dated every other RPG on the market. Seriously. If this game had launched simultaneously on console, all the usual outlets would be creaming themselves over it.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I'm playing Telltale Game of Thrones. Apart from the creaking game engine, it's alright.

Started playing The Gardens Between on Nintendo Switch and ts a great little puzzle game. If you have not seen it, you use the either analog stick to control time (left direction rewind time, right direction fast forward) whilst items in the world will let you freeze or open certain aspects in order to move other objects with the time mechanic.

It’s very clever, I don’t think it’s an overly long game and I’ve probably put an hour into it so far.

You're probably not far off half way.

Lovely little experience though

I thoroughly enjoyed it but as you say its an extremely short-lived experience.

Edit: that's going to end up in the no context thread.

Always happy to see someone new singing this game's praises.

What I have played I have enjoyed a lot, it looks great as well, like a little diorama.

Yep, wonderful game. One of my favourite Game Pass discoveries in my year and a bit of having the service

Outlast 2

Played about 3.5 hours this morning and it's a competently made horror game. I remember the first game being better but they're very similar. The first one was a bit cheesy and full of jump scares, like a ghost train, but this one feels like the developers are taking themselves a bit too seriously. All the religious stuff and body horror is very trite but I knew it'd be like this before I started so I'm happy to play it through to the end. The night vision mechanic is still the best thing about the game and it does look really good in places.

However, it's not actually scary even playing with earphones. Resident Evil 7 is obviously a far, far better attempt at this kind of horror.

I'm still in the Farming Simulator groove, even with Animal Crossing's release, and doing very well on the Switch version. Although I was expecting a mess to be made in this situation.
