Lego Harry Potter Collection (PS4) - Loved this first time around on PS3 and playing through it again is just as fun as it always was.

I wonder what became of that HP game which was said to be under development at one time, not really heard anything about it since.

The Crew 2 - PC

This game is so dreadfully, mind-numbingly 'fine'. You drive the quite boring races, get the loot, grind up the numbers while a bevy of nobheads talk about how cool you are. The first game's stupid plot and annoying cops were bad but they gave exploring the US a sense of journey and adventure. Now it's a glorified race select screen with no reason to exist other than to drive the treadmill ever-onwards.

The handling is too floaty to warrant nuance or dedication, further undermined by the loot system which necessities grinding over and over to make the car numbers go up and more numbers means more winning, no balancing weight Vs power Vs handling etc. All the games I bought over Xmas have been ditched (admittedly not many) and this is looking like the last one. Forza Horizon doesn't have boats or planes but is much more interesting to me.

The Last of Us Remastered (PS4) - Been slowly working my way through this since before Christmas. Really enjoying it for the most part. Biggest gripe is that my strawberry floating controller which is only a few months old is playing up so the left stick constantly twitches to the left - not that helpful in a stealth game when you are trying to stay behind cover or line up a shot! :x

Doom (Switch) - Jumped back on this after the recent updates - just a joy to play and now on the go! Working my way through Sigil again after having played in on PC last year, it's bloody hard at times but such a good collection of levels. The visuals could definitely be better on Switch though - the resolution hit is a bit of a joke and there is still a fair amount of slow down in bigger levels. :(

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (PC - GamePass) - Spotted that this was on GamePass over Christmas so thought I'd give it a go. I really enjoyed TNO so was confident this would do the business as well, it took me a little longer to get into than I hoped but before long I was merrily blasting my way through hordes of Nazi's. :toot:

Platinum'ed. :toot:

I'll do the Left Behind DLC sometime this week. I'm looking forward to it as I never had an opportunity to play it on PS3. :D

I couldn’t sleep last night so briefly carried on with my Dark Souls stream and despite having beaten the game many times across 2 formats I had never solo’d Smough and Ornstein until last night.

I planned on having one solo attempt before summoning help but somehow nailed them first try. I went on to kill Knight Lautrec and restore the Firekeeper at Firelink Shrine before calling it a night.

That is really satisfying. I did it on my first playthrough after about 20 attempts. Took strawberry floating ages. Second playthrough, straight up murdered them in one attempt.

The old advice is the best, take your time, pick your hits, keep an eye on Smough while Ornstein is up in your face.

Solo'd O&S (and the whole game as it happens) on my first run through last year. Just need to git gud. :datass:

I still find it fascinating the different bosses/areas which people find challenging - I remember some spots that people warned me about being a walk in the park (relatively speaking) whereas other sections that didn't seem to attract much heat were actually quite a challenge!

I defeated O&S on my very first attempt and I've no idea how I managed it. Replaying the game recently, they must've taken me 30-odd tries to finally beat them again.

The first time I must have just been insanely lucky. I remember I had the zweihander and was incredibly slow so I must've just got a few flukey, high damage hits in before knowing what was going on.

So many bosses I came within a whisker of beating on my first attempt in both this and Bloodbourne.

I think the first time you encounter a boss you are naturally cautious which helps you to stand a better chance, as you get into repeat attempts you can become too aggressive or impatient which makes it feel harder.

I just find the games more fun in co-op although I solo'd most of Bloodborne apart from Darkbeast Paarl, Rom and Bloodstarved Beast.

I got bloody lucky on one fight in Bloodborne when I managed to stunlock Martyr Logarius.

Got Sonic Boom Shattered Crystals from Argos cheap and been playing through a fair bit of it and actually it's not that bad of a game, each level has hoards of collectables and feels a bit metroidvania as you have to come back later with new characters and abilities to access new locations of the level. The only real grumble I have with it as for a Sonic game platforming feels a bit slow.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands

The nature of Ubisoft games means that they're perfect to jump in and out of for a couple of hours prior to starting my shift. This leaves me more time in the evening to play games that demand more time to fully appreciate.

Decided to play something a bit different this evening. Shadows of the Damned.

Played it years ago on the 360, but not to completion. Now playing it on PS3.

Earned a trophy just for starting the game.

I think I actually had the most issues with the strawberry floating bow and arrow knights in Anor Londo. They are the real Dark Souls.

Enjoying Shadows of the Damned, but there's a hell of a lot to remember during combat. Things can certainly get a bit panicky in heated moments.

Played through this game 3 times in total. The last playthrough was the first one where I actually managed to deal with them in close proximity. First two runs, I used the cheap poison arrow trick.

Just finished Gears 5 in co-op, loved it. Enjoyed the campaign more than 3, Judgment and 4. Might even be my second favourite Gears game... Not really bothering with the multiplayer in these games any more though. Now moving on to Halo Wars 2 (started last night, looks like I'm about half way through the campaign) and Warhammer Vermintide.
