I've played very few games recently... apart from F76 which I've put a lot of time into. I think I've become a bit too keen on it; to the extent that I don't want to play other stuff. The exploration and camp-building just ticks all the boxes for my tastes. I won't bore folk about the game here but check out the game thread if you're interested.

So apart from DayZ which is now pretty much all we play online now, I've been playing the excellent Yakuza 0, and also having a blast with Bayonetta Remastered and Ninja Gaiden 2 (which is essentially remastered in 4K 60fps on X). I also started a Reach playthrough on Halo MCC as I've not finished it since the Original years ago.

DayZ though has become all consuming though. We now actively play on 2 servers. In the last update they opened up the community server options so we play on a High Loot 1PP Chernerus Server and also on an Official 1PP Livonia server. The change in maps is welcome but also, the High Loot server is busy and has far more chance of PVP but the Livonia Server is a tad more relaxing owing to the lower population.

The thing with DayZ is, it's the only game I can think of that offers genuinely Unique situations. Only last night I was back looting on the High Loot server as I'd been executed earlier and I'm upstairs and suddenly I over hear an English dude saying "Hi, all ok?" and an American was like "yeah, I'm good", the English guy said "wanna team up im heading North, there's nothing in this town, I've been through it all" and the American lad was all "team up with a Brit? no way", then they exchanged insults and started fighting, I peeked out window of house I was in to see one guy chopping up the others body, I've no idea who won.

I've hundreds of these stories which makes the game essential for me and friends.

It's also quite pretty at times.

Thought I might as well start Arkedo : Swap.

Wish I hadn’t. Castle mode is a nightmare, I’ve managed to make it to the last level but strawberry float me six ways to Saturday.
Even worse is they’ve blocked the screen when you’ve paused the game so you can’t see the blocks. Come the strawberry float on  :x

In short, it’s Bejewelled but less fun & more frustrating. The other two (Jump & Pixel) are great.

My birthday I spent the money I had from mum on first three Dragon Quest games on Switch, and I've completed them all, D3 yesterday - and I've started fourth one on Nintendo DS (on my N2DS anyway), really enjoying the series so far.

Third one is huge step up after first two, although there are some bits of it I don't like it still was impressive what it brought to the series (and reading up differences between new and remakes I'm glad I'm playing remakes lol)

Also I'm glad they didn't strawberry float up too much with DQ3 on Switch, first two had huge ass character spirtes for some reason and they look awful, not case in third one though

Nothing wrong with that. I am sometimes envious of how people can really tune in to just one or two games and play them exclusively. I find that if i'm not always trying something I have not played before etc i am missing out (in some ridiculous way). This means that i revisit games far less than i would films or albums.

Anyway i'm currently playing Two Point Hospital, and it s proving a really satisfying game to play. I have probably put around 15 hours in, and although there is still LOADS to do, i am starting to feel like i have probably seen all the game systems on offer.

Also bought Doom 3 for 1X (i had credit that was soon to expire so the game kinda sorta cost me 38 pence).
It is not good Doom..... the suspense aspect is not bad, but the guns just feel awful. Possibly the worst i can remember a game feeling. Also way too much talking and not enough Rip and Tare. I may give it one more go, but i think 45 minutes was enough.

Oh and still playing Dreams, and i still think its remarkable. And i still know i'm pretty much the only one. I have made my peace with that 8-)

It's odd, kaz, as usually I'm flitting about and putting five minutes into a variety of games here and there. I'm enjoying the focus involved in concentrating on a single game.

I've read/watched a number of views on Dreams and opinions vary so dramatically; there are plenty of people indicating that they clearly aren't enjoying the basic, brief fare on offer but also a number of folk highlighting the incredible variety and the creativity of the experiences. It's great that you're firmly in the latter camp and are enjoying it!

Diddy Kong Racing
I don't know how many times I've completed this game...it's so good.
I've completed everything apart from the final WizPig race and unlocking TT.

F-Zero X
Again, I've lost count of how many times I've completed this. On the latest run I've done all cups on all difficulties, all with Captain Falcon. I just have Queen and King on Master left to do.

Goldeneye
I think I'm enjoying this more now than I did back when I first played it...it still holds up well I reckon, and the objective-based missions and classic levels are still really enjoyable.
I've done everything on Agent, and have one level to do on Secret Agent (Caverns). I'm surprised by how much fun it is still.

In addition to these retro japes, I'm also playing a couple of PC games...

Burnout Paradise
It took me a good while to get into this. I still find it annoying having to drive to races/events, or drive somewhere to change car, but the races themselves are more enjoyable now and I’ve been making good progress. I’m working towards my final licence upgrade, but still have a load of cars to unlock, and haven’t touched the bikes yet. It’s good to dip in and out of, or sit down for a longer session. Still prefer the older Burnout games – Burnout 2 in particular – rather than this open-world variety, but it’s reasonably enjoyable.

Apotheon
I’ve only just stared this, but it seems good. I like the art style, and the exploration and combat is pretty fun, even if the latter is fairly mindless (although the variety of weapons, and degradation of them, adds a bit more to it). Looking forward to playing more, when time allows.

Still playing Dragon Quest IV, got to Chapter 2 and I'm liking "Wild Arms" style they went with this as in introduce you to new character(s) each chapter until they all meet up or something like that, and it looks so nice especially for DS game.

I'm glad I paid tenner for it then! Shame if I want to get DQ5 after I've beaten this one it'd cost me £70 (£75 via CEX)... Still, it may take me while to finish DQ4 so I'm not exactly in rush to get DQ5.

Also FF14. I'm just casually playing it rather than "no-life"ing it as I kinda felt burnout sometime week in or so of 5.2 due to playing almost good bulk of 5.1 in Jan/Feb.

Picked up Persona Q2 and I'm really enjoying it so far it's mix of the Etrian Oddesy series (which I haven't played before) and the combat of Persona.

Got to chapter where I finally play as main hero of DQ4 and I'm really enjoying it especially the story already has me hooked (there wasn't much in first two, third has some but not that much). Taking my time with it, about 9hours in.

Playing Dead Cells again. I completely missed the whole boss stems thing and how to activate it. So I'm playing through it with Boss stem one activated.

Jeez, this game does not strawberry float around at points. The Concierge kicked my ass twice last night. Gotta git gud

Just completed it. It was a pretty good campaign and it wasn't that difficult as well.

Will try to get all trophies later on or this weekend. :)

I’ve spent today grinding in Final Fantasy II to aid in steaming it. I’ve attempted this game a bunch of times but I’m quietly confident this will be the time I finally beat it.

EDIT: spent another few hours with Final Fantasy II this afternoon. That’s all the grinding I can stand for now. Hopefully when I stream it again on Friday I can just progress through the game for a while.

I've beaten this yesterday and with help of my boyfriend I'm now playing through Dragon Quest V.

It's already amazing, if this keeps up it might be my favourite Dragon Quest so far.

On the King Cup (the one with Fire Field at the start, i think it was that one), i was able to regularly rack up over 100 kill stars back in the day using the Black Bull ship.

Currently chipping away at Nier Automata (PS4) only about 5 hours in but it’s pretty cool so far. I have opened up all the slots for my plug in chips and have started fusing chips and spec-ing out my character.

Story is interesting so far but I don’t get the ‘omg best game ever’ comment this seemed to get. Not to say it’s duff as I am enjoying it but it just feels like a standard Platinum action game.

Yup without doubt this is really great entry to the series, although I'm bit unsure on monsters so far. I like the idea/execution but as far as I can see, getting last party members would've mean monsters kinda moot (save for back up party members if your main party wipes out)

Either way, dunno where I'm at in terms of progression, maybe halfway or bit before that.
