I picked up RDR2. After the massive 108GB download I spent an hour trying to get Rock Star's stupid launcher to run and finally got into the game. Seems kind of slow to start off with the controls of pretty finicky and not particularly consistent (for example, I dropped my gun and my hat in a cutscene and then had to use a different button to pick up each off the ground for some reason). I suppose that won't be issue if you spent enough time in the game to get used to them. Also having trouble with an issue where I am playing with a gamepad but my mouse cursor keeps re-centering on the middle of the screen, which is annoying. Trying to find a resolution for this at the moment.

I’ve had it for while but fancied trying Lollipop Chainsaw this afternoon. I just beat the first boss, seems fun thus far but definitely not the easiest of games.

Just finished case 2 of Murder By Numbers. Great fun. That horrible feeling when you know you have gone wrong somewhere and you can’t work out where though..

Started Yakuza 4 today. Slow start as always but I like the new character so far so I'm hoping to really lose myself in it once it gets going, as with the other games in the series.

Managed to snag a sealed copy of GTA Chinatown Wars for £21 and I've been playing a fair bit of it over the weekend, and it's a blast. Very impressive for a DS game.

This is basically the perfect brawler game, I've finished it with a few of the characters now but it's just such a fun game to pick up and play that I suspect I will keep coming back to it for a quick bash for a while yet![/b]

River city girls is up there. It is strawberry floating great, tbh.

Never played any of the River City games but would definitely give this a try. It would have to go a long way to to SoR4 in my book though.

A hell of a lot of what makes it special is how well it leans on the nostalgia element as well which is something that other games don't have in their arsenal!

The bits where you have to use the touch screen were awful though, really felt shoehorned in and unnecessary.

A lot of DS games had that issue though (Pac & Roll and the first DS Castlevania being two examples of terribly implemented touch screen controls).

Dawn of Sorrow had some really annoying touch screen use as far as I can remember. Beat the boss, DRAW A RUNE, strawberry float the rune up, boss gains energy back. Annoying.

Scott Pilgrim is similar to River City if you played that on 360.

Play it on an emulator with a hack to auto do runes.

Started playing throughOwlboy Tonight and I like what I have played. The graphics look really good and it’s starting to feel good to play as they introduce the moves and techniques you can pull off.

Nearly finished the game now, have about 5 regions left and the final of the three main missions to do. Fun but 2 is definitely still the best

Started playing Uncharted 4 again. I played through this on release and felt it was the weakest instalment as the fun B movie feel had been lost, replaced with a storyline about the brother that I didn’t care about. Hopefully I was too harsh before and will enjoy this play through more. Going to try to hoover up some trophies too.

I picked up an Xbox One X last week, and I bought several games to keep me occupied. As it turns out, the console came with a 30-day trial of Game Pass so I've completely ignored said games and only have been playing the Master Chief Collection :fp:

I've completed Halo 1 and Halo 2 anniversary editions so far. Since it's my first console FPS in a while I chose normal difficulty. Both are fantastic, and the nostalgia hit me hard. Halo 2 in particular looks amazing and the difference in audio quality is crazy - especially through good headphones. The only niggles so far are:

- The Library in Halo 1 (surprise, surprise). Although to it's credit, it is a lot less samey looking than the original. Just the bloody pod infectors everywhere that lets it down.
- Another Halo 1 nitpick. Flood armed with Rocket Launchers hiding behind blind corners in the indoor levels. Insta-deaths out of nowhere just felt cheap.
- Brutes in the later levels of Halo 2. I lost count of the number of times I got one-shot by the things which seems unfair on normal.

I started Halo 3 last night and it's a bit jarring to be honest. Gameplay is great so far. However, although the graphics have held up pretty well (I suspect the X enhancements help), the face models and some of the human animations let it down. Plus the audio quality is a real step down coming from Halo 2: Anniversary. I think if I played it straight off the bat it wouldn't be as jarring, but given they did such a good job on the remasters it's hard to ignore.

Only complaint about the X so far is some of the game sizes. I understand the 100GB size of MCC since it's essentially 6 games. But Gears of War 4? That thing is bloody massive and took forever to download the updates even though it's a physical copy. Other than that the UI pretty responsive and it runs exceptionally quietly.

Nice, I've finished them all on MCC bar 2. If you have Gamepass all the gears from remastered 1-5 are on there. All in 4K bar the first remaster (oddly).

I don't want to derail the thread with Halo chat, but in terms of multiplayer which game provides the best online experience these days? Back in the day I played Halo at LANs and Halo 2 on Xbox live. Halo 3 was a single-player only experience for me at the time because my internet connection in student accom wasn't the best.

If I wanted to jump in online, am I best waiting until I get to Halo 5 to play matchmaking, or are the older games superior in that regard?

Hmmmm... Well Halo 5's mp is very good but personally, I like MCC better but that could because of my boomer status.
There's a custom game finder which is VERY handy. You can tweak team sizes 4v4 8v8 (4v4 maps are smaller than 8v8 btw). Type of game you want (slayer, ctf, bomb etc), and the actual games you want to play (reach, 1-4). Don't make your selection tooo specific or it'll take time to find a game.

Big tip though for online in Halo MCC MP is, in options, you can select your buttons for each game. Go to halo Reach (cos it's mp is slightly more complex than others) and configure buttons (they ususally similar) but there's an option to match that config to all the games, it's dead handy cos you could be playing, CE, 3, then 4 then 2, Reach then 2 anniversary etc. (if you pick them in game finder all obviously) and although they all play a little different, having same control scheme makes the transition easier.

ODST's Firefight with dedicated servers is joining in the next few weeks.
