I do think I own Sleeping Dogs as well from some bundle a few years back. It's one of those that I've always intended to try and find time for as like you say it seems to get pretty much universal praise

Y'know I don't think I've ever seen anyone who's played it give a less-than-great opinion of Sleeping Dogs

Sounds like a challenge ;)

What made it click this time do you think?

I don't really know, to be honest. I've always loved the renaissance influence and stylings of Deus Ex and the golden glow that seems to surround everything in HR, so knowing that I love the way it looks has helped. I think the last few times I've gone into it expecting quite a straight stealth/FPS game. This time it was a bit clearer that there are multiple routes and I'm a bit less overwhelmed. Coming off the back of two out-and-out FPS games(Halo: Reach and Crysis 2) it's nice to play something with a bit of nuance, too.

Fair enough! Is it the director's cut you're playing too? I've only played the original but the bosses are completely redone, which has always sounded appealing (you couldn't non-lethal them in the original).

I don't think it is, sadly, as I've had to murderise the first two major bosses. Currently in Hengsha for the second time and I think I'll be entering the endgame quite soon. Just met Hugh Darrow, who is
so painfully obviously in the Illuminati.

I've been trying to get the achievement for not setting any alarms off but have no idea if I'm progressing towards it or not.

EDIT: need to finish this soon, apparently I’ve become too engrossed in the stealthing about and have stopped talking to my wife. :fp:

Human Revolution was a great game, it still falls short of the original in some key areas but it managed to scratch the Deus Ex itch far better than I had any expectation it would when it was first announced.

Mankind Divided is well worth a play as well if you get the chance. It makes some well considered improvements over Human Revolution in many areas but also brings a certain share of new wrinkles.

I’ve actually got Mankind Divided - picked it up cheap a year or two ago. Might pop it on once I’ve battered through HR and the DLC

Hard to know whether you'll benefit from a break in between to avoid Adam Jensen overload but if you've got it then I would definitely give it a go. If you like HR then Mankind Divided is largely more of the same

I think I’ll probably need to give it a break for the wife’s sake if nothing else. :slol:

To be fair, I’ve got a massive backlog of games to get through before starting new ones, I went for about ten years buying up new games and then either not playing them at all or barely touching anything other than Rock Band. It’s been nice over the last few months to really rattle through a lot of the old collection.

I might need to give Sleeping Dogs a replay. I've already finished it twice but it's so awesome.

Finished Deus Ex and saw all the endings. I should really blast through it again to get the four or five achievements that I missed as well, though I'm strawberry floating certain I didn't trip any bloody alarms in that playthrough.

I was pretty sure I didn't kill anyone when I went for my no kills run but didn't get the trophy. same thing happened in MGS3 but since you find out early that you failed it I went a bit trigger happy thereafter.

I read that there are multiple places the Pacifist achievement can balls up - sometimes a tranq shot counts as a kill, sometimes if something like a bot blows up near to a guard who has been knocked out it’ll count, and sometimes it the final boss turrets kill any of the mental augmented folks it’ll count, which is strawberry floated up.

I got to that part of MGS3 without it telling me I'd killed anyone, only to get to the end and find out that if you kill someone, die and select continue instead of reloading, it still counts against you, even though they're still alive when you restart. :x

Dirt Rally 2.0

I checked this out after seeing it listed on Game Pass. Lets just say this game does not strawberry float around! :o I can see it's merit, but it's an extremely unforgiving game. I can see why enthusiasts would really like it, but the sheer accuracy and unforgiving nature of the handling takes away the fun for me. If I end up getting a wheel later in the year I might revisit it, but I think I'll stick to the Dirt series 'simulation' handling option for my rallying fix for the time being. That's a better balance between fun and sim for me.

Yeah, I feel the same nowadays. I used to relish the challenge but now it just frustrates me. I really enjoyed my time with Dirt 4.

Dirt Rally on PSVR is amazing mind......

I’m yet to try DiRT Rally 2.0, first one was great though, really rewarding when you got it, much like with WRC 8 more recently as well.

I’m currently on with Animal Crossing today, getting my island as finished as I can be bothered and will just make little changes from here out, don’t need to do loads more now I’ve got the 5 star rating thankfully.

Gone back to Control after a few months. Really wish it had difficulty settings though because either I suck or the game is just hard, or at least has some real difficulty spikes. Shame because it would be so much fun to just stick it on easy and go crazy with all the powers but I'm finding it more frustrating than anything atm.

Booted up The Touryst late last night and I love it! It's extremely pretty (and apparently 4K on X - for some reason) and it plays like an old school Zelda mixed with Paper Mario. You do little puzzles and tasks for people and visit it more and more islands. It's well written too, some very funny exchanges. I had to figure out how to get a party to the max level with great results!

State of Decay 2 got yet ANOTHER update (I think this is update 19!). This time it runs a bit better again and cars are faaaaar better to control. Currently taking out plague hearts now on this map, very VERY addictive.
Pro Tip, create whistling box bombs, the Z's all gather around as it spits out fireworks then BOOM. They work a treat!

I've been interested in The Touryst but just haven't looked into it enough to get an actual understanding of what the game is. That comparison definitely helps sell it

Nioh 2 - The new DLC brings a new difficulty level and it basically makes my level 300 character into a weak one. Its great to face a challenge again and get back into levelling up.

The DLC has some nice surprises and I was very happy to see a Nioh 1 boss show up too.

Carrion - Switch Lite - each day I try to find a new upgrade or secret. Its not a challenge anymore as I'm massively over powered but the game is still very unique and fun.

Wish my image sig would work
