Tony Hawk American Ska8tland arrived this morning and I've been playing it for most of the morning, very enjoyable I much prefer this approach than Downhill Jam. Might have to get Proving Ground.

Hades - Killed by first boss, again :x :x :x

Sigh :slol: I knew it was hoping for too much that it'd start me in the new area after dying.

Been playing some more Mask of Mists on stream, and I'm certainly liking it a lot. I think I might need to up the sensitivity (if I can) as aiming while in combat is too slow to be effective. Since I finished off three dungeons, and have a pretty clear idea of how to get to the last two, I'll probably give it one last play on stream to finish it.

After the stream was done, I jumped back to LEGO Incredibles to get the final story level finished. It's enjoyable, there's nothing technically wrong with it, but I could never really call it one of the best. There's nothing that really stands out about it. It feels like the Harry Potter games, and that's... not something to be proud of.

Children of Morta. Did not really expect it to be my sort of game, but played about an hour of it yesterday evening and was amazed at the production values! I love the way each time you die you seem to get drip fed another passage of the story etc. It really halps with the feeling of progression. Also enjoying how different the initial 2 characters are. I thought it was going to be a bit overwhelming but it all seems cleanly laid out.

Oh man, I thought I was coping pretty well with Resident Evil 2 then they introduced Mr X.....bloody stressful. The number of times I'd be walking about and hear my own footsteps and have to stop and check

Such clever game design, makes it so tense.

Also, out of curiosity, how different is the other campaign? Is it one to start straight away or should I give it some time?

It's not completely different but I'd encourage you to play it straight after. The B scenario mixes up item placement and the order in which you explore things so it's well worth doing. Leon and Claire use different weapons to each other and also meet unique characters with different cut scenes that add a bit more to the overall story.

You also get the true ending by completing scenario B.

Thanks

I think I will go straight into it seeing as I don't think the game is that long. Does it change the story? By that I mean, I'm playing as Leon and he see's Claire on the other side of the fence at one point-does that happen in her story etc?

You do see that from Claire's perspective, yes.

Thanks Zilnad, looking forward to it.

Going to get Resi 3 at some point I think too. I much prefer this to Resi 7 I have to say, which I did enjoy but slowed down about 6-7 hours in and never finished.

Mr X ruined the game for me.

Hades

FFFFFFUUUUUUU

I managed to reach 2nd boss on only 2nd attempt of the 2nd zone! Got it down to about 50%. Picked up some really good abilities and upgrades which made things much easier – namely a rush attack which reduces rush/dodge range by 20% but strikes 3 times and in a wide arc. Next passive ability upgrade I get has to be the second wind; I needs that extra life.

Remember Me
I like this a lot so far. The plot's a bit different, visually it looks really nice, and exploring the levels is quite enjoyable. The combat is okay, but it's crying out for a lock-on system. I like being able to customise the combos, but being able to lock-on would be a big improvement. The memory-altering mechanic is quite good too, although I've only used it once so far, so not sure how much it's used. Very linear so far, but I don't mind that.

Tales of Vesperia
This looks really nice - fluid and smooth, with some really good animation in battles. Otherwise it's typical Tales - irritating characters, annoying and all-too-frequent 'skits', and repetitive dungeons. I'm still enjoying it though, so far at least. Worst thing is that sometimes you just want to get on with playing it, but it constantly interrupts you.

> cut scene plays
> control is returned to the player
> move 3 metres
> new cut scene starts

Tony Hawk 1 + 2 - probably the best remaster ever.

A Short Hike - a lovely little switch game. So charming and relaxing.

Civilization 6 - I don't know if I like this. I'm not very good at it and it's all a bit confusing. Hopefully I'll get a better understanding of what's going on.

I ust have sunk about 4 hours in to Children of Morta last night. The loop is so addictive. Rogue likes have never clicked with me due to the frustration of not progressing, but this one feels like something opens up every run (be it stats, story, unlockables). Is this the difference between rogue like and rogue lite?
It has the feel of a D&D campaign as well, which gives it a nice nostalgic vibe, and the graphics are beautiful.
I am still stuck on the second stage of the first level (the caves). Hopefully i will start making some meaningful progress sooner rather than later, but i have almost beaten the dungeon boss, and with a bit more care i probably would have done already.
Dead Cells never did it for me. I could see the appeal but i also never felt compelled to keep playing. This on the other hand is absolutely my thing, both mechanically and stylistically.
Wish i had someone to play it with in co op, but i dont think its really hurting the experience.

It keeps getting better too. The more characters you unlock and the skills they all add to the family. As soon as I finished it I started new game plus.

Thats good to hear. Yeah, im really enjoying the way it entices you to vary the character you play as through both carrot (family bonus) and stick (fatigue).

Approximately how long did it take you to beat it?

Went back to DayZ a couple of nights ago with a mate. We were on a modded server in Livonia and soon enough we were walking about kitted up with Mosins and M4's. We headed south (where even better loot is) and while walking in a forest and a fair distance to any buildings (South Livonia is 90% forest), my mate mused that we'd be fooked if a bear showed up as we'd have nowhere to go. Seconds later we heard a roar and from behind a hill a bear was barreling towards me! :dread: I emptied most of my clip into it but it was too late and it knocked me unconscious and I was going to bleed to death. Luckily my mate finished it off and had enough rags to save me.

I limped on and found refuge in a random watch tower. As I recovered sitting down there was a thunderstorm and it looked remarkable. While we sat waiting for the storm to pass (getting wet clothes in DayZ is a nightmare) my mate admitted that he thinks he actually shot me accidentally when bear attacked while he was in a panic! We travelled on when I could walk properly and found an army camp, that had 2 players on the roof of a building. I was in shock that I seen one and shot at him, and missed, My mate ran back into the woods, Zombies tore me apart and I JUST managed to get to building and logged off while bleeding to death. Gonna co-ordinate with mate so he can heal me when I log back in as we had no rags/bandages left. :fp:

Made a good chunk of progress in Dark Souls 2 in the past week or so, finished off all the Great Soul bosses, made it through Drangleic Castle, Shrine of Amana and the Undead Crypt. I just acquired the ring from King Vendrick before wrapping up for the day.

I really like Remember Me, especially for the well written characters and general aesthetic. The memory stuff is very cool (and very Ghost Trick) but unfortunately underutilised - there aren't that many of them through the game.
