Day off work today so decided to take a look at a title from my BC - pirate RPG, Risen 2.

Seems okay so far.

Yakuza 5

I vaguely remember this series being mostly about punching thugs into bicycle racks, but I've been navigating Haruka through the creepy world of J Pop for some time now. I'm impressed how it has taken a complete narrative, theme and gameplay mechanics change and it still works. I still have at least two more characters' stories to go through which are the length of a normal game in themselves afterwards...

Disco Elysium.

I'm obsessed with it, to be honest. One of the most engaging and engrossing games I've played in a long time. It's properly ignited a long lost love for point-and-click adventures.

The Evil Within.

Feels like one of the hardest games I've ever played.

Yep they put you in some awful scenarios, the sheer stress is unbearable for me.

Think it's Chapter 3 I'm on.

A village that all looks the same so I can't figure out where I am or where I need to go. I've got 2 bullets, the melee attack is useless, there are loads of enemies and I can't run for more than a couple of metres before my stamina runs out.

It gets easier after that point. Starts giving you more guns and ammo and becomes more action packed akin to Resident Evil 4.

Made a bit of progress in Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise this evening. I finished chapter 4 but so far it still kinda feels like I’m in the tutorial. I’m looking forward to the game opening up a little and getting access to some sub stories which from experience are among the best Yakuza content.

Played a few runs on Reigns: Kings and Queens I’m doing the King mode as I understand that’s the first release for this series. It’s quite addictive actually, trying to balance everything and making the right choices to keep your run going is fun and things can turn to shite rather quickly

Helping my son through Monster Hunter Stories 2 and I think we're coming up to the end of the main story. We've both really enjoyed it; it's been a lot better than I expected. Would def recommend! Looking forward to getting into the post game content too.

Halo 5, it’s alright? 4 and 5 haven’t been a patch on Reach to 3 though, 5 feels very much like a challenge game where you just face waves of prometheons till you move onto the next section and face yet more waves of them. It looks fantastic though, story isn’t great either, at least in 4 Cortana was being deleted throughout the game, to bring her back doesn’t make loads of sense either. Only 2 missions left though so not much more to go!

Edit, Halo 5 complete. Now I’ll be focusing on Skyward Sword HD before playing the Fable trilogy through.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Steadily making progress with this. Had an unusually quiet weekend so was able to sink a few more hours into it. It's good, but the annoyances are starting to grate more and more: highly annoying characters, tedious dungeons with too-far-apart save points, and the cut scenes...strawberry floating hell. Several times my controller has disconnected due to inactivity because I've just been sat there watching these cut scenes that go on and on and on. What's worse is that they barely add anything to the plot, and seem to drag on just for the sake of it.

Resident Evil Village. Didn’t want to bump the thread as I’m too late to the party, but what a game. The last 30 minutes or so were a risky endeavour but they JUST pulled it off. The story was doing alright until the last bit as well, but Resi has never exactly been Hamlet so you just have to roll with whatever they choose to throw at you, really. I dunno…it seemed even less comprehensible than usual. The tone of the game in general lurches all over the place…standard Resi too.

Breath of the Wild

Decided to give this a go after I saw the latest CEMU updates give a big performance boost for Vulkan, and boy did it. 70fps, is easy at 1440p ultrawide but I jacked the resolution up to 6880x2880 and frame rate is 50+ and a bit janky, but boy it looks lovely.

Axiom Verge 2 - Switch Lite

I'm enjoying it and it's better than the first game with its map and tonight guide as to where to go next.

It's still a bit frustrating but it plays well and the new powers are interesting.

Wish my image sig would work

Spent some time on the FIFA 22 Beta, its an autoblock fest and with super goal keepers and people playing drop back and hitting on counters, so basically FIFA 21.

Dont see how they can market that as a new engine as well.

It will be another pass from me for FIFA this year, which is good news.

Still playing breath of the wild and it’s stunning. A lovely game. I’ve put about 20 hours in and barely scratched the surface. It’s a little overwhelming and I feel massively underpowered, but I think that’s the point. It’s a special game, I’m just not sure I can keep going on just that for the 50 hours in deserves. I’ve been mixing in some flight sim, while also looking for something else.

So, I jumped out and tried just cause 4 on gamepass. Having loved 2, years this just felt more of the same with poor controls and just repetitive. Tried it for a couple of hours, deleted.

I am now trying evil within 2. Loved the 1st. The second is slow again for the 1st 2 chapters. Maybe it will open up from Chapter 3.
