Metroid Zero Mission - I've never actually played a 2D metroid besides a bit of Super, so I thought I'd start at the beginning.

So Chozodia, huh? That's a crock of gooseberry fool, isn't it?

We've had some good night's recently as a family playing Wii Sports Resort, a stone cold multiplayer classic. I also dug out Ghost Squad and realized just how much I miss playing lightgun games...

It's great to hear of some good times with the Wii, Carlos! I'd really like to see Resort on the Switch; I love the table tennis and bowling whilst archery is fun, too.

And, you're right, light gun games seem to have totally disappeared and the Wii versions still work well with modern screens. A House of the Dead remake is apparently in production for the Switch so we'll get to see if the joy-con are any good as light guns.

A year or two ago I was in a phase of chopping and changing with games; playing something for five minutes and then moving on. I've since been not playing that much at all and, in past months, I've only really put time into Fallout 76 (PS4) and Grindstone (Switch).

But... there are now quite a few games I'd like to tackle, although I want to avoid the "too many" scenario. I am looking to try No Man's Sky, Death Stranding, Animal Crossing and - I've really got the bug for this having seen others playing it! - Fallout 3. This last one would be on my 360 which I haven't used for ages so it would be fun to be back on Xbox.

Today a bit of Hexen (PS1) and now I'm going to jump into Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition

Picked up DMC 5 over the weekend. Trying to play on devil hunter and currently getting obliterated by a big ass godzilla like monster.

The game looks great (PS5 Version) but sometimes the camera angles are a bit awkward

That's a lot of time sink games right there! I'd probably start with No Man's Sky because once you've done about 2 star systems you've seen every gameplay hook the game has to offer. It's a great game for sure but it's a great 5 hour game on repeat.

Yeah, I tend to enjoy getting into big, open games, Carlos. I have played No Man's Sky before - I have a 65 hour game save - but I dang well love the game loop. I will be starting afresh, though, to get back into the controls and get a feel for all of the new additions and mechanisms since I last played.

Tonight - Thief: Deadly Shadows. (PC)

Used to own it on Xbox and absolutely loved it. The PC version has a few issues, like not being able to pick the first lock in the tutorial :fp: ...but a quick look online and I found the Thief Sneaky Patch which updates a load of stuff, (rez, animations etc), and patches game bugs so now the game works perfectly, better in fact.

Absolutely brilliant game. So many routes, so many options, no handholding - and it makes you feel like an absolute bad ass!

Yakuza 5- The RNG in this is absolute bullshit. I spent an hour trying to catch a marlin for the baseball training before I gave up and I'm now walking around the city trying to find a victory road fight guy. What fun I'm having.

How'd you get on with the wheel, Gem? Have you tried one before?

Only ever tried one in a shop, never owned one before. Absolute game changer. I love it 8-)

Need to tweak the force feedback though.

Sounds neat, dude, and it must transform the racing experience.

I've a feeling going back to a traditional controller will be a bit naff.

A regular controller is gooseberry fool once you're used to a good wheel.

I don't think Forza 7 will be the same after Assetto with a wheel!

A wheel is just so much more fun isn’t it! Really glad to see the old DFGT is back in use :datass: I think I’m probably ever so slightly quicker on my wheel than on a pad (definitely now as I barely use a pad, but subsequently don’t play racing games as often as I’d like) but I’m a bit more consistent with it due to it being more accurate than a pad, although games do generally play pretty well with a pad these days as I’ve tried F1 2021 with one. The main thing is definitely how much more immersive the experience is with a wheel.

I’m really looking forward to the new Forza with my wheel to be honest! Fingers crossed it’s out next year.

Yeah it's great fun!

Am I right in thinking that the stick shift will only register with cars that utilise it in real life? So far I've been racing in more modern cars using the gear paddles found under the wheel itself.

*edit* seems there's a 'Use Shifter' button I didn't have checked in the options. :fp:

Started Black Mesa this morning and I'm loving it. It's clearly a big upgrade over the original Half Life but somehow it's exactly how I remember it.
