I think I'd be enjoying Psychonauts 2 more if it had fewer cutscenes. Thankfully, they aren't anywhere near as bad as Guardians of the Galaxy, but what is there I feel gets in the way of the game. This may possibly be down to the game not being the only one I am currently playing and so I'm just not in tune with the flow of it...

Other games I am currently playing and enjoying: Dead Cells, Outer Wilds and Firewatch.

Currently playing and finding so so: Fallen Order (Holy gooseberry fool at that load time when RESPAWNing. Really hammers home just how good a job other AAA games do with the new gen tech.)

SpeedRunners is just superb. I love the quick rounds and tension that builds as the screen shrinks. It's very satisfying when you execute a perfect grapple to give your opponent no chance. Definitely a new personal favourite in terms of competitive multiplayer.

Risk of Rain 2 is also very good. Really throws you in at the deep end in terms of not explaining anything, so we were wandering around aimlessly for a while not knowing what the teleport gate looked like :slol: :fp: But once we figured that out we really got into it.

Does anyone have any good 2 person multiplayer suggestions for PS4/5 or Switch - co-op or competitive? We've previously played Overcooked, Castle Crashers, A Way Out, It Takes Two, Scott Pilgrim, Streets of Rage 4, MK8 Deluxe and Rocket League. We've got Deep Rock Galactic lined up after it was added to PS+ and I'm tempted by Back 4 Blood, although the reviews seem mixed. Key We and Can't Drive This are also on our radar.

Ultimate Chicken Horse
Heave Ho
Towerfall

These are fantastic fun in multiplayer

Ultimate Chicken Horse does look fun. Might have to investigate all of these and keep an eye out for sales.

I'm about halfway through Far Cry 4 and I've been having a good time with it. It's video game comfort food. You can just turn it on and not think too much about it. I like that.

Aliens Fireteam Elite

For the first time in about 20 years, I am regularly playing a game with a couple of mates. Gameplay is not overly complex, but there is enough variation in classes and perks to keep it intresting for a few hours a week. We were all big fans of Aliens growing up so the setting is literally perfect for us. And of course, its on Game Pass so we all have the game for "free".

Also playing Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, which I have been realy enjoying, but the complete lack of challenge (even on the hardest difficulty mode) is starting to annoy me.

Deaths Door (NSW) - Third boss down, got all but one weapon left to find and got an upgrade to my health so I now have 5 health points :toot: really like this game, soundtrack is great as well (Up on Apple Music as well I noticed)

Bad North - Jotun Edition (NSW) - 55% of the way through the campaign, got 8 commanders so I have a good crew at the moment. Upgrading the special abilities of each one as and when I get enough coins as they do help out now I am used to using them in the right ways.

Ha, yes, but not until much later in the game. I wasted a lot of time trying it myself. Turns out you need to unlock a certain ability first (and not the one I thought would do it).

Ta. I only tried a few times only to get ensnared and chomped *even though* it was right bloody there *and* I'd slowed it down with force powers.

Yep, exactly the same! Frustrating, because it clearly should work.

Yup! MC goes from swinging the sabre while having good distance between self and tongue to all of a sudden being grabbed by the tongue, with no in-between transition animations. Very cheap. Much jarring.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 - Switch OLED - at 112 hours now, still monsters I'm yet to catch or even battle. I'm currently trying a few online quests to get material to upgrade more weapons. Online works really well just like in Monster Hunter Rise.

Wish my image sig would work

Dead Cells. (First played it years ago.)

Loving it but I may have mixed feelings about it.

So I'm not 100% sure they tweaked with the difficulty, but those elites and bosses def gave me a harder time on my first play through.

Thankfully the Ossuary was still its usual inhospitable self.

(Got my arse kicked about 4 minutes into it. By a scrub mob.)

Started playing Doom Eternal yesterday. You get the double jump from the beginning and you get airdashes in level two which can be chained into the jumps. 10/10 perfect game

Final Fantasy 7 (NSW)
Started playing this last night, I dabbled with the game back in the PSone days but never played a significant amount of it. Only played up to the bit where you reach the hideout after blowing up the first reactor, using the boosters as well to make it less of a grind but i'm liking it so far.

One thing that seems to have happened a couple of times though, dialog is spoken by one of the main characters but it seems to have zero context :? like a character says something that should have followed something happening but the thing didn't actually happen if you know what I mean. I wondered if its just iffy translation or something.

Just did the bike sequence escaping from Shinra HQ, really enjoying the story of this at the moment, I’m mostly using the boosters to get through the fights so I can continue pressing on but I’m enjoying this a lot more than I remember when I played it on PS1.

Shadow of the tomb raider. Started well but it’s a bit meh. It looks phenomenal but it’s just a bit basic and simple with some tedious fetch quests in the villages.

Might sack it off, but I like to finish games.

Psychonauts
Very close to giving up on this for the second time. I've got further on this occasion, but strawberry float, it's just so frustrating to play. Levels go on for far too long, and it's not fun enough to overcome the tedium. I'll give it one more session, but I'm not holding out much hope. I really want to like it, but there are too many issues.

Dead Island: Riptide
I'm gradually getting stronger in this which means I can brush off some of the enemies or not take as much time dealing with them. I'm also skipping side quests and just focusing on the main quest. It's still not great, and has its issues, but as a mindless 'junk food' kind of game, it's okay.

DiRT 4
Onto the final event in this...nearly there.
