The voxel style is really putting me off to be honest. Not something that bothers you or is the game fun regardless?

It's certainly better looking than previous titles. So far it's still fun. Not as busy as previous titles (1000 + ants has yet to happen) but it has a lot more big enemies.

I'm enjoying it but I'll see how long it holds my attention as previous games kept me hooked for ages with the grind for better weapons.

I suspect it'll be very cheap on the PlayStation store in the next 3 months so probably worth waiting until it's £20.

Wish my image sig would work

Started playing Concrete Genie and it seems pretty good so far.

Platinumed Concrete Genie. It was enjoyable and relaxing.

Can you do it in one play through?

Yes, after once you've completed the main story and you can scroll round to finish off what you need. I'd say around 6-8 hours to finish it everything.

Sounds good. I've had it installed since it was free so I might start it soon.

Playing Metro 2033 redux on my aging PC. Runs fairly well.

My memories of this game are good ones, I've played through it twice before. The tower bit at the end was so intense for me. I have a fear of heights and it's the only video game I've ever played that has replicated that feeling.

Last Light is better but this game is no slouch.

Bloody well done, Mafro :o

You seem to have picked up Pyramid Head really fast. It took me a long time to get used to his play style but he's definitely a lot of fun.

Playing Cultist Simulator on PC and it's amazing. I played it a bit on my phone and was intrigued but, on a big screen and using a mouse, it's really got its hooks into me. I've barely scratched the surface but I just want to keep playing more and more.

DBD - Just had a couple of goes as The Purge and I'm not sure about her. Even though I killed everyone in my first game, it felt like blind luck and that I would've done just as well using normal attacks as I did with her ranged vomit.

I definitely need some more time with her to really understand how she's supposed to be played. Hopefully I'll warm to her more as I can't see her being a favourite based on first impressions.

Streets of Rage 4
Playing through it solo this time, with Blaze. On stage 12, it's so much tougher than the other stages. Starting to get a strategy for most of it; just need to get to the last boss with 2 lives and I think I'll be able to do it. It's the bit just before the boss though that's a real git.

I know exactly the part you mean. I always find the room full of Big Ben fat dudes to be the most difficult bit.

Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair on PC. I've played this before, and this playthrough is pretty much cementing my opinion on it. Overworld bits are brilliant, platforming levels are good but lack attention on the finer details.

I would like a sequel, or a game that was exclusively like the overworld bits.

I have no idea what I'm doing on Cultist Simulator and die after twenty minutes.

It was like that for me as well at first. But I've now worked out enough that I can go for an hour or two before succumbing to dread. Every failed attempt just pushes me to try again and experiment with new combinations.

Yakuza 5 - PS4

This feels like coming back to a new season of a beloved TV show more than a game. Playing on easy, for which the guide text says "for those new to Yakuza" and I am quite the opposite; been through these from Zero and at this point I've seen and done it all multiple times (Kiryu ends up in a cabaret club in the opening sections and I was getting worried I was going to be immediately asked to run ANOTHER one), I want to enjoy the juxtaposition of multi-game crime melodrama and mad side stuff with the odd bout of thug-punching without difficulty spikes killing the mood.

The more you spew on survivors the more they get infected until their meter fills up and become injured and can't be healed. Whenever a survivor cleanses themselves from a fountain it becomes red and you can absorb their sickness and use Corrupt Purge that damages survivors as a ranged attack. I think that attack only lasts for a minute though. She's got one of the best killer perks in the game (Corrupt Intervention, the one that covers the 3 furthest gens at the start of a match) and another really good one (Infectious Fright which shows the location of other survivors nearby if you down someone in your terror radius). Corrupt Intervention is in the shrine this week too if you can't be arsed levelling her up.

Just did this tonight lol

Thanks Mafro, that's really helpful. I hadn't realised that repeated pukings prevented healing. I played as her a bit more last night and was doing a lot better, even got the Adept. Best moment was spewing the damage puke in an arc over a wall and downing someone with it just as they finished opening the gate.

Yup, that's the bit! It's the ones who belly flop that cause me the most trouble. Fine on their own, but when you go to attack one the other jumps on top of you.

BTW, finished my solo run through last night. Finally figured out how to do it :toot:. I'll no doubt run through with the other characters to get the unlocks. Its great for a quick play.

Started playing Super Mario 64 (via the 3D All-Stars Collection) today. The experience holds up remarkably well, but there are a couple minor quirks that I'm finding a tad bothersome.

For starters, there's bumping into walls; practicing wall-kicks results in, more often than not, getting knocked back. Are most surfaces just not viable?

And secondly, besides the godawful camera, long jumps are also hit and miss. Half the time I'll end up ground-pounding on the spot instead.

I've never played Mario 64 outside of the DS port and even then I'm not sure I even completed it, but I'll certainly do so this time around - though probably not quite 100%. I wouldn't necessarily rule it out, though...
