I almost gave up it after the first 90 mins, but I can see there is a really good, in depth, unique game behind the awkward control scheme and the very opaque information on how to actually play the game. I seriously have no idea on some mechanics still, and even after reading up on them elsewhere. Team attacks? Queuing unite morphs? Maybe they are explained later, but at the 3 hour mark (roughly) there is still seemingly no info on them. And I breezed through Astral Chain and both Bayonetta titles.

But even if I never get more than a rudimentary grasp of the gameplay, its certainly a refreshing thing to play.

Stick with it. My favourite video game ending by far.

I'm doing my very best to, but it continues to confuse and frustrate at every turn. I just defeated the Mission 3 boss. It took 25 minutes. Was I doing it wrong, or are you supposed to have to do the same little combat routines and sequence breaks about 8 times?

I don't think a game has made me this bewildered for some time, despite it not actually being that difficult.

I'm also just skipping the cut scenes now, i'm not finding them nearly as wacky or amusing as Platinum clearly did.

I do love the colour palette and general art style used though, and the way it will dip in to small sub games with very different mechanics is a really cool feature.

I don't know what boss this is. Is that the set of missions you get Wonder Yellow in?

I think so, yes. I have decided to drop this. I’m just finding it frustrating and exasperating. A real marmite game if ever I have played one.

Struggling to find time to sit down and have a decent session with Dark Souls, so I've also started Guacamelee, which I can pick up and play a bit more readily.

Enjoying it a lot so far. Wasn't convinced at first, but the combat is satisfying, the exploration is fairly enjoyable, and the theme and environments are quite original. There's some good humour in there, and loads of references to memes and other video games, which have made me chuckle.

It'd be nice if the game explained things a bit more in terms of the coins and items you're collecting (for example, I've got gold coins, silver coins, purple/skeleton coins, health fragments, stamina fragments, some other fragments, costumes I can buy, upgrades I can buy, and there's not one explanation about what any of them do. I can figure out the obvious ones, but why not tell me what the things I'm collecting are, and what I can do with them?) - it just assumes you know, or doesn't bother. That's the only negative so far though.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is back taking up my lunch breaks. I got into it initially on lockdown but my old Switch corrupted my save so many times I fell out with Nintendo.

I recently brought a Lite model and am loving it all over again. I was also smart enough to back up my saves from about a year ago so I don't have to redo the first 40 hours of Xenoblade and can carry on with Zelda from where I left off.

Ghost of Tsushima Directors cut. Playing on PS5 on lethal mode. It’s amazing. I really love these Sony open world games.

Chernobylite, picked this up a couple of months ago for half price in Xbox sale knowing a next gen patch was incoming. Last thursday it got upgraded to 1080p/60 or 4K/30, the 1080 works well as whatever AA they using makes everything look clean an crisp.

It's an odd game, I'd liken it to single player Escape from Tarkov as in, you are tasked with missions but you choose them as you want and that opens an open world (pretty large to be fair) area to do the mission but you're allowed to wander anywhere within that place. You head out, pick up resources and do tasks and then at any point you can leave, which brings you back to your base where you can build stuff and you also can recruit other people, (you start with one) and you can send him out on a mission while youre doing your one (to get food or meds etc) if you send NPC out on a mission and you go to same place later it will have less enemies. It's an interesting concept and I'm sure with several recruits it could get really good.

Graphically it's Metro style with the Chernobyl plant and it's nearby town apparently modelled perfectly from the real areas, devs are polish and took several trips to Chernobyl and Pripyat so it looks the part. Haven't met any mutants yet but jesus they sound creepy as fook, I've noped out of a few places....

Guardians of the Galaxy - Playing on Series X and loving it so much. Up to Chapter 9 (not a clue how far it goes) but the story telling and conversations between the different characters is top-notch. Combat is a little bit repetitive, but still enjoyable, loving getting all the character's special moves off in a chain it's great fun.

Man, I have so much respect for Wonderful 101 and even enjoy it greatly at times but aye...it is an exhausting game D: For multiple reasons really; just how much on and even off screen you have to keep track of, how long its levels are, how many different drawings you end up having to remember and pull off...

Those bits when it clicks though...it's magic  And easily one of the most exuberant and inventive games of its kind. I just...there's a reason I had to take a break from it for a while eheh. I do want to get back to it in time!

Yep, I totally respect what it is doing, but I just found myself dreading the next combat section one too many times. I'm sure the skill ceiling for it is massive though.

You guys are breaking my heart here :(

Nah, I love the game, but even I know it's flawed as hell and an acquired taste.

I've lost pretty much all my free time this week (which there admittedly has not been much of) to recreating 1996/1997 in WWE2K22's Universe Mode. I've barely seen any in-ring gameplay, but far too much time has been spent downloading other people's created wrestlers, sorting everyone into WWF, WCW or ECW, setting up tag teams/factions, assigning everyone to the right title division, setting up PPVs etc.

Is the game good then? Tempted to pick it up if I see it at a good price.

The last wrestling game I played before this was from 2006, so I might not be the best judge but it's at least decent. There's plenty of content there between the story mode, the showcase stuff (where you play out famous matches from the career of Ray Mysterio) and the Universe mode which is sort of like a sandbox career. It also has the return of the GM mode for the first time in a long time, although I've read it's very limited, with just one title per show. Honestly not sure what GM mode has over the universe mode.
