GTA x Yakuza; an apt description as any I've heard. Good fun so far, like that it keeps the missions moving quick; handy for short burst play. Think I'll prob ignore a lot of the side stuff, just stick to the main triad and cop missions. Just what I wanted at the mo, nothing too epic! Still looks pretty decent too.

Absolutely loved this game, gutted it never got a sequel. It’s one I will replay one day.

Make sure to put the DLC Cop Uniform on (and drive the police car about) to make all the cutscenes when they're wondering if they're a mole present hilarious.

I'm pretty sure I'm approaching the end of Mass Effect now. I'm about to do the 4th of the main story locations which if memory serves marks the games point of no return.

Alter Ego

I believe this is a "real life" text-based RPG from the 80's but I'm playing the mobile app release.

Really enjoying it actually. You live the life of a human from cradle to grave, making a multitude of choices at each life stage.

I played my first character as close to real life as I could and he died from alcohol poisoning as a depressed teenager. :(

First impressions are that the writing is really good, very relatable and genuinely funny when it aims to be. Very interesting title.

Far Cry 5. I'm weirdly enjoying it in that 'turn your brain off' sense. It's a bit bloated and I like its sequel better so far.

The way the damage works in these games always seem so inconsistent to me as well. Body armour is piss thin.

Started A.I the Somnium Files yesterday, seems fairly decent so far and it seems a lot more involved than typical visual novel type games, there's a lot of reading but the investigation bits break it up nicely.

Edit: Wasn't expecting this to be as graphic/gory as it is.

I finished Mass Effect 1 Legendary Edition this morning before making a start in Mass Effect 2. I was led to believe that the XP gains in ME1 had been rebalanced to allow you to reach the max level in a single play through but even after doing every side quests in the game and opening what must be every container, mineral deposit etc I couldn’t get beyond level 29 and the jump in XP needed to hit 30 was insane.

Is that the first game? I really enjoyed it (but I do like my graphic novels). It had the sweet spot of reading vs interacting (in the same way as Danganronpa and Phoenix Wright).

I should really get on with picking the second game up now it has released over here.

I didn't realise it was written by the same people as Zero Time Dilemma and 999/VLR which I guess explains the gore and grittiness and the branching storyline

I'll definitely get the sequel when its cheaper, £45 is a bit pricey for something I'll most likely only play once or twice.

Also brieffly played an obscure PS3 jrpg called Ar Nosurge: Ode to an unborn star which I was reading about the other day and thought it sounded interesting, seems to work well on RPCS3 but will leave it until I've finished one of the several games I'm currently juggling.

Really cracking on with Star Wars KOTOR on the Switch, just reached the planet with the 5th Star Forge map so definitely nearing the end of it, while I won’t be playing the remake (unless it does come to Series X) of it, I’ll be really interested in what they do with it to try and modernise it outside of the graphics and a bit of tidying up. It’s still a fantastic game, can’t wait for the restored content mod to be released for Switch so I can play that later in the year.

Edit, reached the Star Forge before calling it a night, hopefully can get it finished off over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

I made a good chunk of progress in Mass Effect 2 over the past few days. I’ve got all the first batch of party members and started doing their loyalty missions since they’ve been popping up after finishing random little side quests I find while scanning planets.

I played ME2 (as part of the legendary collection) for the first time last year and loved it.

I played it at launch and it’s been great revisiting the series. Playing the trilogy like one big game has been fun so far.

Ok, I’d not actually reached the Star Forge in KOTOR, rather the planet before it. I am on the Star Forge now though!

Edit, and done, went for the light side ending, now to wait for the restored content mod for KOTOR 2. I’ll finally get around to playing Legends Arceus again now anyhow, I do wonder if I’ll enjoy it just as much on my second run of it.

Xenoblade chronicles 2 - enjoying this and the combat is unique. I have an ok collection of blades now and I've grinded anload of cash via dives for loot. I still don't get the combat 100% but I am grasping more of it each time I play.

I've just gotten a key to get through a door (had to Google where to find it) and had a boss fight. Now trying to get through a factory but I'm already a bit lost.

The upgrade trees are excellent and the music is epic while wandering around.

Performance in hand-held (how I play all the time) is iffy. Not so much slow down but rather the resolution drops to the point where it looks like I'm playing a PS1 emulation. Then it'll go to a cut scene and it looks stunning again. But the game is so good that it's not really impacting my enjoyment.

Yeah, Torigoth in that game is like 540p or some gooseberry fool. There's so much crap on screen.

Been playing Horizon Zero Dawn and really enjoying it. I always find these open world kind of games a bit hit and miss. The recent Assassin Creeds really grab me, get me wanting to spend ages working on skills, collecting items, checking off those checklists, while others like Far Cry just make me want to go through the story as quickly as I can. This is definitely the former though. I'm doing the bandit camps, the cauldrons, the hunting grounds, and every quest I find. Definitely feels like one of those games that get more fun as you unlock skills and get new weapon types.

Reached Ilium in Mass Effect 2 last night, I've done the loyalty missions for all the first set of characters plus Tali, not recruited the guys on Ilium yet. I tried to finish Lair of the Shadowbroker before going to bed last night but it got too late and I needed to sleep.
