There’s a definite anime feel to the story in this with each area you visit having it’s own little story almost like an episode of an anime.

This sounds like some cool tech, Ironhide. Hope that it helps make controlling some things a bit easier.

It's a lot more promising than my previous mic and software combo, it no longer struggles with background noise and the software is incredibly easy to use and can do a lot more (macros, launch apps and games .etc).

This sounds promising. Good luck.

I've got a few things on the go right now.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC continues slowly. I've concluded Chapter 2 now and the game is throwing party members at me thick and fast. The story's starting to really sprawl now, too. A lot going on with both the on-screen and off-screen plots. The skill system is really cool and involved, but I don't really have the time to sit and plot out the best combination of not-materia to use to get the abilities I really want so I'm just sort of stockpiling the raw materials. Scraping by at the battles for now so no real urgency to look at it more, but I guess that will eventually change.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is one of the most gorgeous looking and rich-sounding games around, despite being a little static. The gameplay and character movement is kind of PS2-esque, but it's like a comfort blanket. The whole vibe reminds me a lot of the original Jak & Daxter. I was only intending to use it as a bit of a palate cleanser, but I'm actually really digging it in its own right.

Off the back of the CRPG Book my sister got me for Christmas, Anachronox caught my eye, so I picked it up in the sale for 69p and I've been having a blast with it. It's such a weird, unique thing (a Cyberpunk Detective Space Opera Western-Developed JRPG?!), and the writing is just really sharp and funny. Deus Ex gets all the love from Ion Storm's catalogue, but this is equally worthy of it. Definitely shows it age with id Tech 2, but if you can push through the barrier of it looking a bit weird, it's a rare delight.

This sounds right up my street. I remember playing the demo way back when and being very interested in it but at that age I'd never really played an RPG before and so it felt a little too new. I might have to go back and check it out now.

The CRPG book has been no good for my backlog though. So far I've bought the remastered versions of The Bard's Tale Trilogy and Wasteland but I haven't started either yet.

Anachronox was criminally overlooked on release, it's a brilliant RPG and I just couldn't believe there wasn't more buzz about it at the time.

Currently working my through Deaths Door (NSW) just beat the first boss last night Urn Witch and I am really liking the game so far. I’ve died a fair few times due to clumsy errors with not dodging correctly and such but the checkpointing is fair plus you do unlock short cuts so you don’t always have huge areas to cover to get back to where you were again.

I downloaded Mass Effect: Legendary Edition on Game Pass last night. I was very much looking forward to playing the first game again since I sunk countless hours into it when it first came out. Unfortunately, I was then very disappointed about 20 minutes in because they changed the combat style :? I remember it being much more like KOTOR, but it now plays similar to ME2. Which was the last game of the series I played for that reason (since to me it played like a poor mans Gears of War). Maybe that's just rose-tinted glasses - who knows.

So I'm afraid to say I ditched that (to keep memories in tact - I'm sure some people prefer it) and downloaded 'Unpacking' on Game Pass too. Well, strawberry float me. What I thought was going to be a casual time killer before dinner is turning into an emotional journey through this woman's life - all through hints given through the items you are unpacking. Turning into a fantastic game based on such a simple gameplay concept. Highly recommended if you are not averse to a slower-paced game.

Got 2 games on the go at the moment

Deaths Door (NSW) - Got the bomb power up now, will look to take on the second boss after I have done some exploring and see if I can get more upgrades. The game is definitely tough in spots but it’s fair and it just needs you to play with patience.

Bad North - Jotun Edition (NSW) - Playing on Normal with the option to restart a level if I fail, it started off pretty simple but I’m a decent chunk into a campaign now and I can see where the tactics are going to come into play. Trying to get more commanders so I can maximise what I can do per turn, loving the minimalist art style and its very addictive.

Far Cry 4

Decent enough, I wanted something that didn't require much thought and this is perfect.

Football Manager 2021
Picked this up for free over Christmas for my laptop... Maybe not the best idea, as you could say my addiction has returned! Decided to go with a realistic appointment at Newcastle. First season I kept them up in 16th. Second season finished 6th with a Carabao runner up medal and a semi final in the FA Cup. Was well pleased! I'm thinking I should take an enforced break though, or it'll take me forever to get round to Metroid Dread!

No More Heroes

I played it when it first came out but this is my first time playing the Switch version so it all feels new again.

I'm honestly not sure if it's a good game but I'm enjoying it. The way the assassin leaderboard is presented and the way you gradually improve your equipment is compelling me to keep playing.

Tales of Arise - PS5

Finished the main story now and just doing the post game bosses and tryin to unlock everything. Going up levels really quickly and currently at 72. Very easy game to play and it looks stunning, particularly the green areas.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 - Switch OLED

Post game monster hunting, so many I have yet to find and upgrade. Can't recommend this game enough, an absolute classic.

Wish my image sig would work

Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart - PS5

Only about 90 minutes in, but it seems fun so far. Looks nice and the alternative fire modes on the right trigger are clever.

Doesn't seem like anything groundbreaking gameplay wise, and my understanding is it's not, but hopefully it will be a good time none the less.

It Takes Two

Currently in the early stages of this. Very impressed so far though. The gameplay is very smooth and responsive, and the book character cracks me up. It's proper co-op game where you both need to be very co-ordinated!

I had no idea about the premise of the game, so I booted this up and jumped straight into co-op with my wife. We are generally good on the whole, but we are seeing a marriage therapist currently to resolve certain issues, so to say the story took me by surprise is an understatement. In fact, my wife was initially very curious as to where I'd heard about the game and why I had wanted to play it! Fortunately, after I explained that this was not in fact a ruse, we both found the coincidence hilarious.

For those curious - I'd spotted it on a few 'Top 10' lists and only clocked that it was a co-op platformer.

The Walking Dead

Just finished Chapter 1 and in the early stages of 2. The controls are a bit janky, but I’m liking the story and characters. In fact that characters are very well presented - the antagonists especially.

Life Is Strange

Completed Episode 1 last night. Good story so far with lots of interconnected decisions. I bought Episode 2 to get stuck into tonight. I played this before The Walking Dead, and I think I prefer Life Is Strange on the whole due to the fact you can take back some decisions, and the controls are much more familiar. Some of the characters stories presented so far are quite sad, so it's clearly well-written.

Yes, I don't know about the general consensus but I really like the feeling of swinging the controller to slash a man in half.

Yep, they are great! Only downside of the switch port is the joycons don't have speakers so you can't use the joycon as a phone

Ah, so that's why I sub-consciously went to put the joycon to my ear when his phone rang! I really did love when games did that on the Wii.

The phone calls in Silent Hill Shattered Memories were a bit spooky though :o

I was dissapointed in by the joycon useage in NMH3. It did not seem to matter which way you swung the joycon, it would always activate the finisher. In the end i just used the Pro Controller.

Great game though - one of my favourites from last year.
