picked up surviving mars again when I have time to play games (which is never)
The paradox style of strategy game is pretty relaxing

Spent the day playing online games with IRL friends and it was great. Felt like I was young again.

Overwatch - First time I've ever played this but I loved it almost instantly. So fast and fun and has a huge roster of characters to try out. The whole style of it took me back to the days we spent playing Timesplitters.

Squad - Semi-realistic, modern military shooter, similar to Battlefield or Rising Storm. I didn't actually get many kills in this but I still reallyenjoyed it. Communication is absolutely key and I experienced so many cinematic and tense moments that felt like they'd been pulled straight from a war film.

For example, riding a truck into battle with a bunch of randoms, while my IRL mates were in the vehicle behind. In my head, I was thinking "am I going to survive being part of the first wave? Will my friends have to push on without me". And then we reached our destination, jumping out of the truck to attack the marked village, only to witness the execution of all of my friends at the hands of a delayed ambush. I was the scared soldier from the movies seeing everyone die around him, powerless to do anything but hide.

I was definitely gooseberry fool at it but I still felt like I was really there.

Xcom Chimera Squad

Bought this on release but my PC struggled with it so I'm starting it fresh now. Very early days but I like that it feels more personal due to the unique characters and SWAT-like theme. First few missions have felt very easy though but I guess it's breaking me in.

Psychnonauts. Seemes like the ideal time to finally get aorund to playing it. Only put about an hour in to it but have really enjoyed it so far - its actually funny! Also the graphics are so sharp with the 16 x upscale or whatever it is. The pre-rendered cut scenes look terrible bt comparison.

Balloon Trip on the NES, very fun arcade gameplay.

Marvel Avengers
I completed the campaign last week and really quite enjoyed it, I'm now on the end game stuff and it's incredibly lazy, repetative stuff but for some reason I'm quite enjoying it.

It's essentially 4K which is kinda nuts, I enjoyed my first hour or 2 with it also. The platforming gets a little clumsy but if that's fixed roll on Pyschonauts 2!

Yooka Laylee on PC.

This runs pretty great. The camera sucks in places, but I'm enjoying it so far. Just opened the second world.

Yea, I can see what you mean with the platforming being a bit wonky, but the story and the general theme is so fun and charming I’m planning on sticking with it. And yes, the sequel could be great.

Encountered a bug in Yooka Laylee where I lost about an hours worth of progress. strawberry floating annoyed.

This game has some weird design decisions and it's definitely less polished the further you get into it. The isometric bit in the second world? The crap flying controls? The awful minecart minigame?

And yet, I'm still playing it. Such a weird little game.

I’ve been playing a few games recently. After loving Forza Horizon I decided to give forza 7 a go for a bit more actual racing, it is really good and the racing on higher difficulties is excellent. Assetta corsa competizone is great, but really hard and needs investment with time, Project Cars 2 is also good, it lacks some of the polish of forza.

You're basically past the honeymoon period now. The game just gets worse as it goes until it troughs (can that be used as the opposite of "peaks"?) with the final boss.

I was about to ask the same. I was thinking of trying the second game myself, if the comments here relate to that one i might give it a miss.

Flitting between Mass Effect Legendary Edition (ME1 story), Halo MCC (Halo2), CoD Ghosts (Campaign) and State of Decay 2.

Guess I'm in a mainly killing mood with some story thrown in to break up the endless shooting and decapitation

Good times

I'm talking about the original, Impossible Lair is much better (although it still has a rubbish final boss!)

Thanks. Thats good to hear. I already have anxiety about that final boss mind. It seems a lot of people just drop the game when they get to that point, which seems like an unfulfilling way to close it off.
