I’ve also played a bit of Halo 2 on MCC. The switch between original and remaster is incredible. Halo 2 is pretty unfair at points. Lots of choke points and then heavy crates and bouncy physics with hunters and fuel cannons is frustrating.

I need to get around to Halo 2 on MCC. It's probably my least favourite of the Halo games that I've played so I've avoided it until now

Warhammer Chaosbane (PS5)

I really like how skill points can be re-distributed at will in this. Everything else, unfortunately, is meh. The story hasn't got interesting yet, the writing is dry and there are no next gen graphics/fps options. The game holds up well when things get hectic. but the game isn't pushing the console and so you'd expect that to be the case. But it's a decent Diablo clone, and that's pretty much all I was hoping for.

No. My copy of Ratchet didn't turn up today  :x

Having a break from Judgment. I'll return to it soon and I wanted to play something simpler so I started playing Maneater (shark game).

It was a short game but it was fun. :fp:

Oh, Platinumed. :slol:

Gonna quit Yooka Laylee. The first world was great. I really enjoyed it.

Unfortunately, everything after that is mediocre to bad. Got about 80 pages into it, but I don't want to continue.

It's so strawberry floating vague as well. It just drops you in these levels with very little indication of what to do and where to go. A map with question mark pointers for where the pages roughly are probably would have helped.

Overall, it feels really rushed as a product. It's a shame they weren't able to build on that first world.

DBD Resident Evil is really good (will be even better when the RPD bug has been fixed). I've been having so much fun herding survivors towards my zombies tonight. Bloody brilliant and maybe my favourite killer yet.

Started New Super Lucky's Tale. I'm not a massive fan of platform games, but i am having a realy good time with this so far (about 2 hours in). There seems to be loads of variety in the levels and what you have to do, and its all very sweet and wholesome. Possibly a bit easy, but i am still quite near the beginning, and it certianly requires a bit of skill and concentration from the player, so thats fine by me.

Also started Yakuza 4 Remaster. Feels like more Yakuza. I would like to have left a bigger gap between this and when i finished 3, but the ever mounting pile of Yakuza games on Game Pass forced my hand. Will probably just main line it. I'm actually just finishing GTA 5 again (finsihed it back on 360 near launch), and its funny to think how everyone not in the know used to associate with the Yak series being another GTA clone.

The 60fps of 1 appeals, but I'm guessing 2 might be overall the better package?

But free-falling platforming swooping action sounds right up my street.

Knowing you enjoy movement-feel and exploring game spaces I think you'd enjoy either. 2 is more developed and while it still has problems with combat - probably the series' main criticism - they are less pronounced than the first game. 2 also has more variety in core traversal as you can switch between gravity styles and it is fun experimenting between being heavy and full of momentum or light and floaty, and it also has more location variety. 2 is actually more like 2+3 with three separate and sequential story arcs, so it's also definitely got the more content, but one of those arcs is concerned with returning to the city from the first game - I think that's better obviously having the context from playing the first game first! In fact I really like the story and characters so I would recommend playing the games in order, but it depends how much that matters to you (the story gets on to Kingdom Hearts level of obtuse anyway so I don't think you'd be spoiling it by playing 2 first, you'd just be even more lost on certain aspects of it but that's normal!)

2 had online elements that unfortunately got shut down only a year or so after launch. They weren't integral to the game, but they were ever present treasure-hunts placed across the map by other players taking photos of locations for you to find and it's a shame they are gone (there are also a few costumes locked behind it now forever lost but oh well - I didn't get them all anyway because it was quite a grind!).

The music in both games is fantastic. Visually both have strong styles and art direction, but obviously 2 being made for PS4 vs Vita means it is the prettier game. 2 is a very pretty game!

Belated follow-up: Got PS Now when that deal was on as it worked out to a coffee/month or something.

Which has given me access to Gravity Rush (yay!).

Started with 2 but it kept irking me that I should try 1 first (and 60fps) - playing that now and really enjoying it. Deffo right up my street (and then straight up the wall and on to the roof). Also the presentation and comic-book interludes are great!

Yep, definitely start with Gravity Rush 1, otherwise the story will be confusing :)

The story is confusing anyway

Glad you're enjoying it doc! Everything from the presentation and characterisation just comes together really well, there is nothing else quite like it. Will be interesting to hear your thoughts when you finish it (and hopefully want to move on to 2).

It has just occured to me, in shortening your username, that it initialising to "doc" is probably deliberate!

Fights in Tight Spaces

Deck building rogue-lite with turn based combat and a minimalist 'silhoetted' graphical style.

Very reminiscent of the close quarters fight scenes featured in the Netflix Daredevil series, the fights can get quite brutal despite the slow nature of the game.

Just had a random encounter with several ninjas while extremely low on health, things got ugly/

Edit: the soundtrack is pretty good too.

Cool thanks :)

Yeah OR the overall style is great, and also is very reminiscent to me of a team Ico game? Like a spiritual off-shoot almost? I think it's the character design (Kat's features would be at home in TLG), the language (very Ico-esque) and that flaily, hand-animated jump (especially in GR2). The massive swathes of flat stonework surfaces helps too!

And no OR, deathofcows isn't intended (I made that username on some weird whim when I was like 13 and have used it since!) - it's just a coincidence :)

Yakuza Like a Dragon - Ok, so this is my first experience with a Yakuza game aside from about 30mins with 0. I'm about 5 hours in or so and on chapter 4. It's nailed the Dragon Quest gameplay arc almost perfectly, 3 chapters of very linear, tutorial type stuff and now it's opening up with lots of side quests and other activities. It's also very funny and very weird. Maybe that's par for the course for a Yakuza game but within 5 minutes I went from unlocking some massive bloke who came in to a fight and battered everyone to playing a QTE mini game trying to stay away in a vintage cinema whilst being magicked by ram headed creatures to taking up a quest with a guy buying baby formula which ended up with us both in room full of gangsters in nappies being serviced by a 'nursery nurse'. Within the structure of a jrpg then I'm finding it really fun, not sure I'd feel the same way with what I think is traditional Yakuza fighting game combat.

I can see the Team Ico comparisons, but without the literal isolation. There is one plot element that is maybe the most comparable although you won't have hit that yet. The Team Ico games have a fair amount of focus on traversal too, especially SOTC's climbing, which you could kind of parallel with the gravity mechanic.

I've been attempting to finally finish Bloodborne for the first time, having given it a couple of tries before. I'm hoping doing it on my twitch channel will motivate me to get to the end.

I'm not sure what it is with From Software games but I can't seem to click with them and regard them with the lofty affections that a good chunk of the gaming population does. They feel a bit clunky and janky and frustrating which, while it may be "the point", doesn't always sit well with me and then I feel like I'm missing out on the Citizen Kane of gaming.

Anywho I think Karl's advice of "just summon in help for the bosses" definitely led to me enjoying DS3 a bit more and continuing that in Bloodborne is also helping.

Just did Cainhurst Castle and am about to head into the Unseen Village. Got a little further than this in my last attempt but am not looking forward to the next section of the game.

I'm absolutely loving Wastelands 3 at the moment on Gamepass.
In fact, I'm loving it so much I bought the season pass which considering the game is already huge says a lot.

I think anyone who likes tbs games will enjoy the game and if you have Gamepass just give it a try.
The Sniper I have just evaporates people :slol:

Gone back to Wolfenstein The New Order for the first time since it released and it's so good. The perk unlocks are a really neat way of progressing and they encourage you to try the slightly different styles of play.

I'll have to give The New Colossus another go after this as I gave up on that when I played it last year. Something just didn't click with TNC but TNO is so much fun

I started Breath of the Wild on Saturday afternoon, I left the plateau, explored a little, cleared some shrines and reached some stables where I learned how to tame horses.

I’m really enjoying this so far but the scale of it all is a little intimidating, I keep finding new things to explore so I can see this lasting a good while.

Metro Exodus
Since the update I've gone back into this and with the 60fps and new lighting it's just a cut above again, honestly it's getting up there with my other favourite FPS campaigns.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon
Love the turn based fighting and the story is really good peppered with eccentricities and humour. Still VERY heavy on the cut scenes but I'm a good bit into Chapter 3 now and it's great.

Super Animal Royale
This is PUBG in 2D and because it's colourful and funny, I've been playing a lot with my daughter as she loves it.

The Elder Scroll Online
Booted this up with my daughter, both on our internal SDD and both updated, loaded up the game in seconds and did several quests together, it's brilliant. Big fan.

Streets of Rage 4
Still trying to complete Stage 9 with Blaze on Mania (no assists). It's so flippin' tough. I got soooo close last night too. Only needed to hit Max two more times and I would have done it
