Hey! I said I was joking about Firewatch, ending aside.

EDIT - swallowed up by Valve. Even better.

I found it anticlimactic from a story perspective for sure but from a character arc perspective, it works well. The writing (and voice acting) is superb for sure.

Yeah, Valve put Camp Santo's follow up to Firewatch, In the Valley of Gods ,on hold indefinitely. That's never seeing the light of day.

Started Control today on PS5. It runs super smoothly and I'm enjoying so far, even though the internal dialogue stuff is more obtrusive than almost any other example I can think of.

I've spent an hour or so on the new Islanders: Console Edition (Switch). You have to lay out buildings and facilities on an island, gaining points according to what things are placed near to others. It's very chilled and I'm not quite sure about it at the moment; I've enjoyed the time but there doesn't feel to be enough to it to keep you playing. It was only £4.25 so it feels a bit harsh to gripe but I'm a little disappointed.

I'm still building camps in Fallout 76 (PS4) and, after over 1,100 hours now, there doesn't seem to be any sign that I'm tiring of the game. The upcoming Fallout Worlds update - arriving on 8 September - just sounds to have so much potential.

Barely played my PS5 yet; no real reason as to why but I find it hard to concentrate on any game bar F76 right now.

I played that on PC last year and I agree, its nice and chilled but there isn't much to do after an hour or so.

I paid something like £1.80 for it though so it wasn't an expensive purchasing mistake.

Overcooked

Started playing this tonight with my wife and it's the most amazing fun! Absolutely love it and I can't believe I ignored it for so long.

The Last Campfire - NSW

Neat little Puzzle platformer this, you seem to play a character who seemingly is looking to pass over but has lost his way. Clever puzzles and it has a real nice vibe to it, looks and runs great on Switch as well.

Yeah, well she's currently your wife. Let's see if that continues the more you play ;)

I'd really like to try Overcooked with my mrs because I feel like it would make for a hilarious stream for the neutral, but equally I know full well that I'll have been made to move out by the end of it.

I played a fresh island last night and, I dunno, it's sort of cool laying out the buildings and facilities but you just find yourself shifting things around until the number goes higher. There's no real point to it as there is such little meaning or impact from how you place things. Again, I feel a bit bad digging the game out when it was under a fiver, but... ah, well.

There are rumours/speculation that Overcooked! All You Can Eat edition will be a PS Plus game for September. So many more couples may get to hate each other  .

Both my wife and I can't wait to give it another go this evening!

We're going to try and get the 3 star rating in every location.

I started Plague Tale on Series S yesterday to clear a Gamepass quest but I’m actually quite enjoying it, bit grim though. Up to chapter 5.

Started Dodgeball Academia earlier and played about an hour. I love it. It’s what I imagine many wanted Mario Golf to be. But with Dodgeball.

Just finished axiom verge 2. An excellent sequel that manages to avoid being more of the same.

You have my attention

Have you played the old handheld Mario sports rpgs to compare? Or Golf Story maybe? I'm interested!

I played Golf Story back when it launched and the GBA Mario Golf game (though again, not since launch).

I really liked Golf Story, but it never felt like a true RPG to me, more that it was in the style of one. So far, Dodgeball Academia feels like a true one, but with a real time “sport” in place of the fighting.

The writing is good (funny but not too referential, at least not so far), and the vibe of it is just fun. Feels like a Saturday morning cartoon.

My attention is also piqued. For some reason I just assumed it was some sort of multiplayer title. My give it a punt on gamepass when I've finished Psychonauts 2.

A couple of hours into Fallout 4, and overall I'm enjoying it a lot, but it's so weird how close big chunks of it feel like Fallout 3. I can already tell I'm going to sink so many hours into the settlement building aspect of it though.

I never played that much of Fallout 4 as I left it for a while and then Fallout 76 took over my life. I sure do want to give it a proper go , though, and I understand that the modding scene has added some great elements to the game.

Sounds great, thanks for the reply! It's on the list
