Just gone back to the Destroy All Humans remake after leaving it for a while after a steep difficulty spike and it's really fun. It's certainly a game from the early 2005 but it's so daft and enjoyable, it's a sort of middle of the road game that would never get greenlit any more. Hope they remake the second one.
I finished Providence Ridge on "Dread" difficulty using the Sheriff Legacy only losing 1 person very early on.
You can then pick your best 3 survivors to replay again. So did Cascade Hills, again on "Dread" difficulty but this time went with the Warlord Legacy. Having got to understand the game a bit better and using survivors who were already at quite a high level it was pretty easy this time around.
There's an Achievement for finishing it with all four Legacy types.
Started another game at Meagher Valley but now on "Nightmare" setting. Was planning on doing the "Trader" legacy this time around.
It's noticeably tougher. Juggernauts, Bloaters and Screamers all have blood plague. You can also get Bloaters, Screamers and Ferals in packs of three. I kept driving into Bloaters so being engulfed in a cloud of blood plague. I was thinking I'd bit off more than I can chew.
But I took my time, was really careful and began to make progress. Had six Outposts up and running. Had recruited an extra 3 so had a community of 6, all at hero status which gives you an extra perk. Had all the basic skills - cooking, gardening, medical etc, covered and maxed out. Had cleared a few plague hearts, maybe 4, but was taking my time.
I was beginning to think I could manage. Then my base got attacked. I must have been making too much noise - I don't normally take much notice of this.
It didn't seem too bad at first. But then 2 Juggernauts got in. It flashed up on screen one of my community had been killed - I knew I was strawberry floated at the point.
Ended up having my whole community wiped out and game over. This was after about 18 "in game" days.
Worse still, my 3 best characters, who were all leveled up and had survived the 2 previous games are gone for good. I can't use them in my next game so will pretty much have to start from scratch. Back to Dread difficulty it is. Built up some more characters again and have another crack at Nightmare.
Reached a career level in Planet Coaster where I just can't seem to make a profit. The twist on this level is that staff are paid double the normal wage so I've tried to keep staffing levels down but I keep reaching a point where I bleed money regardless.
Might have to watch some tutorial type videos on YouTube to get a deeper understanding of the mechanics as I'm not sure where I'm going wrong.

He's devastating. Quite cathartic going on a rampage.
I'm waiting for the next sale before buying any more killers, feels like it's been ages since they were in a PSN sale.
I got him for "free" with the shards I'd earned. Simultaneously smashed two survivors to the ground with his brutal attack earlier and it felt so good.
It is absolutely mental that four months into the lifecycles of XBox Series X and PS5 they're still almost impossible to get hold of first hand, and commanding silly money from the scalpers of the world.
Saw this for about £9 physical so thought I'd give it a chance. I've been playing all the Disgaeas and have been wanting to try the other Nippon Ichi Software games. This game didn't get super positive reviews but I was hoping I'd get on it with it more than the reviewers because I also really liked Disgaea D2 (needs a port) and Disgaea 3, which got a somewhat similar reception.
My first impression of it was kind of mixed. I liked the presentation and character portraits, but given this was a newer NIS game that's at least what I expected. Then as you approach the gameplay you're thrown a lot of different terms and explanations and it was kind of overwhelming and I didn't really get why it had to be so complex. Honestly very quickly I was kind of regretting putting another dense JRPG on my plate just because it was cheap. I almost quit because I got stuck on a point for ages but realised I just wasn't paying attention to the objective.
Another thing I didn't really like was the disconnect between the gameplay and the story, because for the battles and pretty much all of the gameplay you're not controlling the 'main' character. You play as magically animated puppets in a labyrinth and every time you reach a milestone you get to see some story progress. But what you discover in the labyrinth is sometimes relevant to the story and I have been enjoying the story segments. It's also kind of cool that you have to completely customise your squad instead of having some especially good 'main' units you can use as a crutch like in other strategic RPGs.
To its credit though it recognises how much info about the mechanics there is to digest, so it revisits aspects of the game in little tutorials and teaches you more stuff. I normally hate forced tutorials in games but I needed them and they didn't take too long. It's also nice that the game gives you the option of optimising equipment for characters, because honestly I hated the constant menuing I did for that in Disgaea and a lot of other RPGs. Then the game suddenly drops a bunch of fun mechanics on me like being able to break down walls and make my own paths in the labyrinth, which while limited to allow for only certain paths, felt really liberating and made exploration more interesting.
This game has been kind of similar to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for me in that I almost dropped it because I didn't get it, but when I got to understand it more and build on my roster of characters and mechanics I started to really enjoy it. The game did crash once on me though which was a little worrying because that has only happened once to me before on Switch and I don't want to lose a lot of levels because of it. NIS have also been responsible for a few less than stable ports, so there's that. But yeah, glad I stuck with it.
Finished it before but started a new save. Just finished it again and went straight into challenge mode/new game plus. It had a lot of good action but the puzzle bits are so boring. It lacks the big worlds and space stuff from a crank in time and it lacks the action of tools of destruction. It's still very playable and the weapon grind keeps me hooked.
Hopefully the next game cuts out the boring puzzle bits.
Fire Emblem Warriors - Switch Lite
History mode, like Hyrule Warriors this game just keeps going and going. Already put 100 + hours in but no where near close to finishing each map.
Initial thoughts in order: Music sounds like weak SoR knock-off. Nope, not a fan of the art style. Blaze sounds awful. Cops depicted as corrupt, violent *and* I get to duff them up?! Christ I am so gooseberry fool at this
