Do you like character driven RPGs, Bertie?

Yes. But I like some ‘breaks’ in it for a bit of action. I like KOTOR/Mass Effect/Fallout but I couldn’t get into elder scrolls. I like turn based strategy too, Xcom is one of my favourite games.

I dunno. Despite rave reviews, I’m just not sure.

Honestly, it's a simple question.

But. I guess we'll never know now.

Trying to explain why my gaming opinions are the correct ones is 60% of why I use forums.

Game Dev Tycoon - Started this yesterday on whim and really enjoyed it more than I thought. Although general thing it seems like it'll get old according to reviews, but that's okay as I'm enjoying my time with it until then.

Little King's Story - I'm at point where I can fight drunk king or other king but I'm struggling with drunk king. My gooseberry fool RTS skills are showing  Other than that, very charming game and I've had nice interactions with LKS fans on Twitch too.

Twilight Princess - About to do sixth dungeon, was planning to do that yesterday but got hooked with Game Dev Tycoon whoops. The fifth dungeon while still my favourite design in dungeon wise it was nightmare with just 3 hearts! I've died fair amount of times on that dungeon compared to others, even boss fight was bit of struggle compared to past boss fights where they've been easy. Great fun though

SM3D Land - Not streaming it, not that I have any means of streaming from 3DS anyway but it's good as chill game and I only really play it for short time per session anyway -- at World 5 now, I've got all golden coins and gold flag until that point. Not really challenging at the moment but I'm having fun, so eh. I know it'll get tougher especially the extra levels.

Oblivion
Hmm. I've got stuck into the main quest a bit more. It's okay, but the Oblivion gates are rubbish. They're just so boring. I've only done a few, but they feel like randomly generated levels with the same three or four enemies and nothing to do but find the sigil key which is invariably at the top of the too-long-and-tedious tower. It feels like a wasted opportunity to do something interesting.

Rayman Legends
More of the same following on from Rayman Origins really, which isn't a bad thing at all. The whole game's really well designed (except the menus), and the musical levels are honestly some of the best-designed and most enjoyable levels I've played in a platform game. I'm not sure I get the obsession with loads of characters to unlock and play as, especially when they're all so ugly and unimaginative (most of them are identical except from a change of colour and name), and there's so much gooseberry fool going on with things to collect and unlock that it feels a bit much, but the core levels and platforming is brilliant.

Steamworld Heist
Not too far into this, but it's good so far. Again, really well designed. I haven't played too many games of this style, but it's pretty enjoyable. Feels like a good game to dip in and out of for a mission or two.

Despite having played at least 200 hours of the game I've still never done a single Oblivion gate in the game. I've never progressed the main story at all so the gates never appeared.

I think that Joffrey is still waiting for me at Weynon Priory, he's probably died of old age by this point!

Finished off Assassins Creed 2 this morning, as an AC game it’s much better than Valhalla. Will be giving the series a break before playing Brotherhood and Revelations so I can crack on with some Game Pass stuff! Reckon I’ll make a start on Oblivion, then Fable and play these to start with. I’ll probably try We Happy Few as well, not sure if I’ll enjoy that much or not but I liked the look of it.

Other than that I’m going to try and finish (well, see the credits) on Sunshine today :dread:

Octopath Traveller (Series X) - Slowly working my way through this. It's pacing fits relatively well with my normal gaming habits of 30 mins here and there. I think I'm around the same point where I quit it on Switch and I can see why I dropped it. Just done the first of the Chapter 2s and it took 30 mins to beat a boss. And this was after grinding up my main characters a couple of levels above the recommended levels. I don't have an issue with RPG grinding and I'd found some moves that would boost things along a bit (the bewildering dance randomly triggering exp and jp multipliers) but the yawning chasm between character levels at the end of Chapter 1 and those required for Chapter 2 make it a real pain. I'm going to push on with it as the achievement triggers roughly once per day and so I'm picking up the reward points along the way. Maybe I'll finish it but I've a feeling something new and shinier will arrive way before I hit that point.

Polished off Dead Space 2 just now.

Not much more to say on the series really, except that this was an excellent action adventure title that has one of the best endings of that generation, which was otherwise known for its rather obnoxious finales.

In closing:

Dead Space 1: 9/10
Dead Space 2: 8/10
Dead Space 3: 5/10

Rounding the last corner onto the final straight with Subnautica now. What an experience. I think it’s been heightened by the fact that Limmy started it just after me and has fallen in love with it just as much as I have, so I’ve been occasionally popping in to his stream to “compare notes”.

Only have to upgrade what I’ve got and go to a couple of locations to finish it out, but even now that most of the mystique has gone, I just can’t stop thinking about it. Got that same indescribable vibe I get from Outer Wilds and Snowrunner, where the bulk of my time with the game is actually happening when it’s not even on, just in my head.

Finally beat that cheating scum bag tournament on Wipeout HD. Wherever those devs are these days, you can politely suck my balls.

Just a few time trials & speed laps left, then I can proudly sit the platinum next to my Killzone 2 plat :toot:

I gave that Narita Boy a go. I didn't really enjoy what I played of it, so I stuck Katana Zero on. This is more my thing. It's like a 2D platformer Hotline Miami. Really like what I've played of it.

Picked up a few titles over the weekend and I've tried them all.

Far Cry New Dawn
Very much more of the same for the Far Cry series, it's quite a nice looking game but I do hope they spice up the gameplay for FC6.

Mother Gun Ship
Really surprised with this one, it's a rogue like shooter where you create your own guns and have to shoot various robots in each rooms. It's face pace, quite hard and has a decent amount of humour.

Left Alive
Thought I'd give this a go and see how bad this truly is, and yeah it isn't great. The game feels very slow and shooting is pretty bad, but there's glimpses of a decent if not great game here if it actually had more time in the oven.
