Couldn’t see a thread for this year set up yet, what y’all playing now the world has been reset again?

My Friend Pedro - (NSW)
Quite liking this, 2D side scroller shooter that feels similar to something like Hotline Miami in that each encounter you need to take your time to assess how you are going to take out the baddies in the most efficient way possible. You get moves like bullet time, a bullet dodge and a way to target 2 enemies at once. Really neat stuff also your best friend is a talking banana.

Gears 5 - XsX
Playing this on Series X and damn it looks gorgeous! Finished Act 1 so far and it’s more Gears but it’s great to be back in this universe again

Grindstone (Switch) - This is a strategic "link up objects" game; you create attack paths by selecting monsters ("creeps") of different colours. There are other objects that grant you the ability to change colour path and things to collect and unlock. Build up your attack chain length for greater rewards! It's tremendous fun with nice animations and great music.

Most of my playtime has been spent on the daily challenge; a new level(s) appears at midnight each day and you have 24 hours to try and reach the top of the high-score table. I'm hugely enjoying it.

Oh! And don't worry if you're colour-blind (as I am). The objects are identifiable by not just colour but design, too, and I find them pretty okay to distinguish. Additionally, your play is not timed so you don't have to rush. Hoorah!

Dead By Daylight

Over 110 hours on PS5 and still going strong. I love it.

Persona 5

Fantastic JRPG with combat that looks and feels incredibly stylish. Each encounter is very puzzle-like which really gets me going. It's the best bits of Pokémon (collecting monsters) and Fire Emblem Three Houses (deciding how to best utilise free time) and it's better than both of them.

Ghost of Tsushima

Probably the best open world game I've played in ages. Visually stunning with every single area designed to be as cinematic and eye-catching as possible.

Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode (3DS)

A reboot of/sequel to Digimon World on the PS1, in which you raise a tamagotchi to fight other tamagotchi, TO... SAVE THE DI-GI-TAL WORLD

Seven years after its Japanese release, the English patch is finally out! :toot:

Resident Evil 4 on pro difficulty (PS4). I’ve been playing this on stream and it’s going quite well. I’m currently part way through the castle around the point where you need the two goblets to proceed.

Assassins Creed: Valhalla - PlayStation 5

This is my main game at the moment, I’m really enjoying it, it’s a massive map with loads of collectibles so it’s going to be a while before I’m finished

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 - PlayStation 5

Got this just for local multiplayer because Tetris is the only game my partner will play and the vs battles are fun, I will play the single player at some point

Those are the two games I’m playing daily but I also play occasionally when I can - Maneater, Sackboy, FIFA 21, PES 21, Watchdogs Legion, Grand Turismo Sport

By my standards I’m playing quite a lot of games at the moment, normally try to limit myself to a couple of games and then something like Animal Crossing which is just something nice to dip in and out of each day, but anyway.

Nintendo Switch

Animal Crossing - mainly down to the daily activities at the moment, still enjoy it but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to it hitting the 1 year milestone so I don’t feel I have to check in everyday (not that you miss much if you don’t of course).

Pokémon Shield - going through this again on my second user profile, just so I can get the alternate legendary Pokémon in the DLC. Currently just working to get a Kubfu for my Pokémon Home and then I’ll be moving onto the Crown Tundra DLC before transferring stuff over to Home/my main save of Shield. I’m actually tempted to start Sword again and do a solo run of some sorts, but then I’d probably be tempted to get the DLC for Sword which I’m trying to avoid.

Super Mario 3D All Stars - I only started this on Christmas Day, blitzed 80 odd stars in SM64 before finishing it and moving onto Sunshine which I’ve got 2 sprites on, really need to get back on with this but as above, Pokémon has its claws in me again

Xbox Series X

Assassins Creed Valhalla - immensely enjoying this, just ticking off all the extras/world events in the first region before moving on with the story. It’s massive and I’m half tempted to not renew my game pass sub when it runs out so I don’t get distracted by everything on there!

Assassins Creed Ezio Collection- bought this when it was on sale, loved these games first time round so just doing a little bit every so often, up to chapter 6 or 7 in AC2 at the moment.

F1 2020 - always a slow burner for myself, just going through the ‘My Team’ season and really liking it, just as well I’m not focused on getting each years game nowadays as I’ve not put as much time into as I’d have wanted.

Bought but yet to really start - Halo MCC (was on sale for £18 via a Game Pass offer, couldn’t pass up 6 games for £18!) and Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

I double dipped on Hollow Knight so I'm playing that on PC.

Well, when I say double dipped, I didn't really pay anything for it on Switch.

Just wrapped up the castle section of Resi 4 and moved on to the island. Saved the game game next to the first merchant before calling it a day.

428 Shibuya Scramble (Steam)

Went in not expecting anything and I'm completely hooked. Got to 12:00-13;00 chapter and I'm looking forward to what happens next. I also love how character's actions can affect other characters, even if the choice may seem minor thing to do -- it's big enough to cause game over on different character which are hilarious.

Just bought Cuphead and I love it. Great game to play with my wife. Unfortunately it did hypnotise our cats.

Maneater - PS5 - bloody terrible. Not surprised it's free on ps plus. Just such a terrible game to play. Clunky beyond words, boring and the novelty goes within a couple of minutes.

Bayonetta - switch - finished it today and now looking for secrets. Great game but massively improved in the sequel.

Wish my image sig would work

Ghost of Tsushima (PS5) - Having played a few Sucker Punch games in the past and only finding them to be *okay* at best, and going into this thinking I was kind of tired of open world games, I am happy to say that this is easily on par with any other of the lauded PS4 exclusives of last gen. I'd say it was on par with TLoU2 and GoW, but better than HZD, and far and away more joyful to play than the dour Days Gone. It's really fun and gorgeous to boot.

Completed the story of Mortal Kombat 11, heck of a lot of fun and very cinematic.

I played so many open-ended sort of games in 2020, and I wanted to start 2021 by 'beating' some stuff with stories/campaigns but instead it's been almost 2 weeks and I've just played loads of Forza Horizon 4, Euro Truck Simulator 2 and trying to fill out my dex in Pokemon Ultra Moon.

Dragon Quest I (Switch)

Despite it's awkward hardware limitations, clunky mechanics and threadbare plot, it's still a pretty fun game!

The visuals, however, are dreadful. The backgrounds are made up of 16x16 sprites which are nice enough, but the characters are these massive chunky, almost hand-drawn looking RPG Maker things that are drawn at a completely different resolution, which makes them look completely out of place. Plus the line weight is a complete mess, like someone dragged an emulator window to a weird aspect ratio.

I was interested in the Switch version until I saw how they had butchered the visuals. It's genuinely horrible, I'd have much preferred they original art :dread:

Wow. Just had a look at some screenshots for this and yeah it looks truly awful. What the hell were they thinking!

I've just completed Digimon Cyber sleuth and now I'm onto the hackers story. I've really enjoyed playing cyber sleuth, it was the first digimon game I've actually ever played. I'm loving the music more in Hackers story though to cyber sleuth.
