The writing is so cringe it almost literally hurts. And yeah, the streets are full of nothing.

hype dead.

That just looks so boring.

I can't understand how they've managed to take what looked like a really exciting concept/licence, and then turn it into what looks like a really by the numbers generic action shooter.

People have been pointing out that in the One X footage the cars never go above a crawl and whoever's playing walks incredibly slowly, both probably to avoid highlighting screentearing/FPS issues.

EDIT Also, lol at 6.30: background noise is of a bustling crowd - 8 NPCs in view.

I still think it's retained the 'feel' of the demo's tbh. Although I was going to wait till it's Series X enhanced I'm gonna get at launch. I finished the Witcher 3 at 900p or so on Xbox One but replaying on Xbox One X in 4K has been amazing (now 4K and 60fps on Series X) so ill get now and replay with enhancements.

Based on some of these videos I think this is highly likely to be pushing the Xbox One S and PS4 (and possibly even the Pro and X) beyond where you'd ideally want them to be (I suppose the modern day Driver 2!) so I'm definitely putting this on the back burner until the true next gen versions turn up. Screen tearing and other issues have reappeared on quite a few games recently a lot less demanding than this.

I cannot imagine the state of this on base PS4/XBONE

I can’t imagine performance will be great on the base consoles, I don’t think it’ll be dire but yeah, not great.

The new footage visually looks good, I think that’s the most interesting aspect of the game (the setting) at the moment but as has already been noted, looks really empty for what’s meant to be a thriving city. Presume we’ve no idea when the review embargo will be up? Really still on the fence about whether to get at launch or wait for the next gen patch to land next year at some point, not like I’m short of things to play.

Edit, cancelled my pre order, will see how it reviews and then pick it up next year when the Series X patch comes out or when it goes cheaper.

Those impressions are very encouraging, contrary to the awful adverts they've been squatting out. Lots of them out right stating it's nothing like GTA and is most similar to the newer Deus Exs (which I'm happy about!)

Yeah I'll take something close to modern Deus Ex (I've all but given up hope of something ever coming close to the original!)

My hype for this is still much lower than it was but I'm not going to deny it has been restored somewhat today

I basically just want an open world Deus Ex so my hype levels are replenished :toot:

Interesting comments in that IGN video, both good and bad. I'd like to hear more about how viable a non-lethal play style actually is, but it sounds promising that it's not as combat focused as the trailers make it out to be. Would also be good to see more of what the hacking is like in practice, hopefully more Watch Dogs 2 than Bioshock.

On the other hand, 6 hours just to get to the title card sounds ridiculous. Have CD Project confirmed how long this is supposed to be? I don't care how good people said the Witcher 3 was, by the time I got to Novigrad, that game had definitely gone on too long already.

I recall them saying that Cyberpunk will not be as long as The Witcher 3, other than that I’ve no idea. Sounds like I’ll need to watch the IGN video, sounds like it could sway me back

I think I'd clocked about 30 hours by the time I got there, and then the game decided it wanted to send me on a quest to find Dandelion that amounted to tracking down 5 people, none of whom knew where he was, but all had something else for me to do, only for the main quest to send me back to the tavern I'd started in to begin at square one again, and it just felt like a total waste of time.
I'd also gotten pretty bored of the basic mission structure of "talk to someone, go where they say, follow your magic glowing red witcher senses somewhere else, investigate evidence of monster, kill monster," by that point as well.

The Witcher 3 took me around 150 hours to finish, including both expansions, and it could have been twice as long. I too am increasingly annoyed by games artificially extending their length with filler to somehow increase perceived ROI but that game was pretty much all killer and remains probably my fav of the generation. Which is why I've been so disappointed with the advertising for CP2077, and why those previews have at least restored a little faith.

And as far s I'm aware they haven't commented on length too much, but I'm sure I saw them say it wasn't going to be quite as long as Witcher 3

Agreed, I could have happily played significantly more Witcher 3 content than we got, and that was already a lot! It's obviously not for everyone and I can appreciate that you obviously just didn't really gel with it Knoy, but for me it's still a masterpiece!

The interesting thing for me with respect to the hype cycle for Cyberpunk is that it has made me actually think back over my feelings toward the game since it was announced and where my excitement actually came from. Pretty much everything about why I was really interested in this game can be boiled down to how much I loved Witcher 3 and wanted more content of that quality from the developer, combined with my internally generated hopes for what a futuristic neon-dystopia first person RPG might be - which in my head boiled down to "open world Deus Ex meets Blade Runner". When I think about it basically none of my excitement was generated from any actual information or media related to the game itself!

There is a ton of filler in Witcher 3 and why I stopped playing very early on - because I was going to every ? on the map and just clearing out identikit bandit camps.

I know there is a lot of great content too, the vast majority of which I never played, which is why I want to go back to it one day with the mindset of ignoring all of that filler.

I should say main and side quest-wise there's no filler. Every quest in that game is worth doing.

The collectible stuff is all nonsense though yeah.
