Given the visual style of the game it could scale up on next gen to be something pretty amazing.
Even if all they do is have the PC settings in the background and set them as high as the next gen machines can handle it should be a huge upgrade. I hope for 4k 60 with max PC setting (I think ultra me be asking a bit much) which should look amazing.

Bit optimistic to be saying that the virus won't be affecting launch when we have no way of predicting what Winter will bring.

Would rather experience the next gen version from the outset, so I’ll definitely be waiting.

Same, this close to next gen, I'll just wait for the PS5 version.

A lot of studios will have to start releasing 'something' in order to stay afloat. This might mean we see a lot of games released on time but with reduced feature sets and maybe updated later through large patches.

I think most are expecting a return to some sort of normal
life over or after summer. I know we can’t say that for certain and it might be we come in and out of these lockdown periods but as we’ve seen politicians are more concerned with keeping the economy running than anything. else

If the worst comes to the worst they should be fine on digital releases for some time to come tbh.

82% of the approximately 7 million copies of Witcher 3 sold last year were digital, I think CDPR will be fine.

This reminds me, I need to book some time off in September. Totally unrelated to this game, oh yes, nothing to do with this at all.

A week before Thanksgiving, so I'd say that's extremely likely.

Either they're genuinely not finished, or partly decided they didn't want that gap to exist between the current gen and next gen versions.

Wasn't there rumours about the Xbox One version running really poorly?

I'm going to be amazed if developers can hope to get a PS5/Xbox Series X game running on an original Xbox One and even a PS4 without the compromises somewhere being awful. Either OG Xbox One/S and PS4 owners are going to get a rotten experience or next gen owners are going to get a game that isn't really next gen at all.

Well we know the Xbox One version will take advantage of Smart Delivery on Series X, I wonder if CDP will do the same thing for PS5?

Also, would we expect the next gen versions to match the high spec PC version?

I suppose this is what happens when you are making a Bethesda sized game and don't want Bethesda sized bugs.

Why wouldn’t it?
