Apparently Lady Gaga plays a not insignificant role. There are rumours that Keanu is one of three possible 'ghosts' that follow V dependent on your character-creation background choice. You get to chose an idol: Johnny Silverhand (Reeves) Alt Cunningham and Blackhand. Gaga is supposedly playing Cunningham.

Waypoint have...speculated that Blackhand might be played by Laurence Fishburne but I think that's just guesswork.

EDIT:

E3 demo footage will be released in August after GamesCom apparently. For some bizarre strawberry floating reason.

Did anyone catch this before gooseberry fool went down?

Or this:

Cyberpunk 2077's E3 demo has weak gunplay and unimaginative stereotypes

It was hard to suppress excitement at last years demo. I had to fight to remind myself of the artifice, to look past the intricate bombast and see the sporadic wall destruction and implausible drowning animations. We’ve still seen only another small slice of a game that will be dozens of hours long, but after this year’s inconsistent combat and questionable representation, my expectations have been tempered.

The latter is very dispiriting. This was one of my most anticipated games in years and now I'm...unsure as to how I feel about it at all.

I think marketing and demos are going to lean into combat more than anything else because a) it demos better than someone making dialogue choices for example, and b) it sells to a wider audience. Even Obsidian in the Outer Worlds trailer took the "look you can shoot this guy in the head!" angle and we know that's going to be full of various playstyles.

Have we really seen enough actual gameplay to decide if the Gunplay is weak?

We haven't but someone has. It's not an absolute but it's a big change in tone from last year

I just noticed this thread goes all the way back to 2012. Isn't it often a bad sign if a game spends so long in development? Not saying that's always the case, just didn't realise this had been announced so long ago.

Sigh, who got triggered this time?

I genuinely want to see if people here can spot the issue with it!

Unless there's a larger version circulating round the web I can't believe anyone spotted anything obviously 'wrong' with it.

I certainly wouldn't have noticed unless I'd seen the few posts after this one explaining the issue.

It was even announced before Witcher 3 so they were probably preoccupied with that for a lot of the time.

Have they? I thought press have just watched the Devs playing it?

The gunplay is not what I'm coming to this game for but it would be nice if it was decent. Deus Ex had terrible gunplay for the most part but is still one of the greatest games ever.

Is the issue that the first representation of a trans character in the game is one which is sexually exploitative? It's the same thing with the taxi driver issue from the reveal: minorities get represented as negative stereotypes, or not at all. "But white people are shown as negative stereotypes too!" Yes, but they're not the only depictions of white people in a game. In any game.

I just assume if a game isn't an FPS or an TPS then it almost always is weak.

Which is where we need more context I think, they may well have more positive/rounded representations of minorities in the game yet...

They then need to put those characters front and centre to allay well founded fears.

Agreed. It's worrying that they've let it get this far without doing so but I'm not going to get my knives out just yet.

There is now a separate thread for the discussion of representation, amongst other more sociological aspects related to the game. That frees up this thread for the discussion of gameplay impressions and the like, and hopefully will help in supporting people talking about the things they want to talk about. See the OP of that thread for more details!

Is this not a shooty shooty bang bang game? The guns should be a pretty prominent part.

Yes, I know you can also hack people but still guns are probably going to be a very central part of the game.

One of the devs told EasyAllies that you can play the entire game without killing anyone.

That's pretty cool, I wasn't aware of that. Did they mention if it would just be some variation like lethal and non-lethal weapons like in Metal Gear Solid, or Deus Ex, or can all problems be solved through diplomacy or other means too?
