The most horrendous showing from Sony. I have no idea what they are doing

At least Sony are informing their fanbase. There was probably a legal reason for putting it back on.

It's that awkward situation where the game is of an acceptable quality played on PS4 Pro and PS5 but an exception can't be made, or a system simply isn't in place, where you can block the PS4-base version. So you have this bodge.

Probably a legal reason Microsoft couldn't take it off their store too I guess? :simper:

With a next gen version in the works, you'd think CDPR would have made a fairly barebones dedicated PS5 and Series S/X version now focussed purely on framerate and resolution enhancements (or at least, have these version running well at whatever fixed resolution) and released that on stores seperately then Sony could put that up whilst leaving the PS4 version off until it's patched. Offer the update as a free update for existing players as planned then once they've eventually (if ever) got the base last gen consoles working well enough they can then move onto enhancing the next gen versions with ray tracing and whatever bells and whistles they want to add.. seems like a sensible short term solution.

Sony just want the cash from Digital PS5 purchases when the next gen patch comes along.

Is this actually happening? Sometimes I feel like they've given up on it :(

No, MS bowed down and Sony didn't. I am guessing CDPR explained that it was of satisfactory quality. Sony have a much higher threshold for quality, just look at their exclusives. :simper:

Not sure if they still are, but MS were doing no questions asked refunds for anyone that wanted one - I played it for a good chunk of hours then refunded it no issues with a view to rebuying it once it's fixed and the next gen patch is out (and hopefully it's dropped in price by then). As for quality control, if Sony's was that high/stringent it wouldn't have been released at all - they just saw the backlash and was prob less admin to remove it than deal with endless refunds for months whilst CDPR work on the patch.

Nailed it. It was all about resenting issuing the refunds.

CDPR actually came out and stated Sony had internal milestones that the game had to reach to be put back on the store. Obviously it's now reached them.

Anyway, who the strawberry float is this guy and why is he in every thread at the moment acting like a 2001-era fanboi? Is he doing a bit?

If that’s the case, you’d think their internal milestones would have included “We don’t have to warn people it’s still gooseberry fool”.

I once had internal milestones. They’re no joke, I can tell you.

Me too, I paid full price for the game and I've been waiting for the update. I know I really should have returned it and picked it up later, for a fraction of the price, but I never got around to it :fp:

I don't think we'll see the "next gen" update until next year, unfortunately.
