I really wonder how much will actually be improved. Will they sort out the lifeless NPCs and teleporting cops, etc?

I'm in two minds as to whether to push on and finish the game as is or to pause until significant updates are made.

Just get it finished. They're not improving it this year, they're fixing it.

Yeah this is probably what I'll do.

My optimistic interpretation of the timeline tweeted above was that Patch 1.1 and 1.2 would be the main "bug fix" patches and that there would be some degree of tangible improvement to the rest of the game and features from the "multiple updates & improvements" block across the rest of 2021.

They released a pretty lackluster "apology" video:

twitter.com/CyberpunkGame/status/1349462362764537862

"Despite excellent reviews on PC...."

The gist of it is essentially ignoring any of the non-glitch issues, pretending that the PC version is perfect and that the console version slipped through the net. Basically boils down to "we're really sorry we tried to make the bestest most ambitious game evar".

Granted they probably can't admit to much more than that due to that investor lawsuit against them at the moment but it comes across as so disingenuous. They really should just do a Hello Games and disappear for a while.

Also you have the usual idiots on that post being their cheerleaders.

Their priority will be crash fixes and base console performance fixes I'd imagine. They've already said in an investor call that they're not adding any new features for the foreseeable either.

I imagine the difference on Pc is going to be fairly minimal until the end of 2021

Why are you interpreting anything from CDPR optimistically at this point? ;)

Just see it off and maybe revisit it in 2 years as the opposite sex (voice) if they make good.

That 'roadmap'. :fp:

And it's a pretty poor apology video. Still lying through their teeth - do they really expect people to believe that in their testing they didn't see or experience the issues that players are seeing? Just laughable. Lots of other smaller points as well, like referring to PS4 and Xbone not by name, but as 'old-gen', almost to make it sound like they were doing people a favour by trying to release the game on 'old hardware'. In reality they were the platforms the game were announced for and planned to be released on all along, and they were only 'old' (i.e. not really) by a couple of weeks by the time the game released. Completely avoided the topic of preventing reviewers using their own footage as well.

People will give them a pass anyway and keep buying their games, so there's almost no point in bothering to protest, but it's amusing to look on and see them continue to try and repair their reputation like this.

I mean I think it's fair to call the PS4 and XB1 systems old, because they are - over 7 years old at this point!

But yeah that doesn't excuse the situation, CDPR were the ones who chose to target those platforms knowing full well that the hardware would be pretty long in the tooth by the time the game would be due for release. It still amazes me that they didn't make this a "next gen" only title right out of the gate.

You could make that argument, but the age of those consoles shouldn't affect the quality of the game they released. I think they're deliberating trying to make it sound like it's the hardware's fault (the hardware that they've been developing for all along and planning to release on) rather than their fault.

Those consoles were only 'old-gen' by a matter of days. If the game had released a week or two earlier, and the PS4 and Xbone were still the current generation of consoles, would they still call them 'old' or 'old-gen'? They'd still be over 7 years old, yes, but I don't think they would use that term. They specifically mention it now though because it gives them a way of shifting focus/blame onto the hardware rather than themselves.

Oh of course it's deflection on their part and they should be held to account for it, I said as much in my post above (and in most of them in this thread!)

This is me bringing me to this but: it's more than deflection, it's the same toxic masculinity that led to a year long death-march crunch, transphobic iconography and racist portrayals of various groups. It's the inability to see and/or admit that you strawberry floated up and being honest both with yourself and, in this case, your customers.

This sort of attitude been etched into every PR statement since release: "God, you guys are being so unfair we did our best, strawberry float what more do you want from us?" and it's being led by one guy, seemingly. Statements we've seen or heard of from the actual devs have been angry and/or sad at the state of things rather than the passive-aggressively annoyed tone struck by the management.
