I ditched the boxing quest after the first bout, pure shite.

Which is a shame because I quite enjoyed that part in The Witcher 3

I've been playing on Ori & Human fall flat on Xbox. Both tremendous.

And Lara Croft and her big spear of light or whatever it is on Stadia. All nice throwaway games, which I don't mean as an insult at all. Perhaps bitesize is more what I mean, by far my favourite way of playing rather than ploughing hours into something.

Oh, and the Tomb Raider remake on Stadia too, which I'm liking largely because they stole a lot from Uncharted, which in turn stole a lot from the original tomb raider. Which in turn stole a lot from ... Bonk's Adventure.

Ive accepted it, Obviously I rather not have it but it’s here and wont stop me playing a game where I am really enjoying story and gameplay.

The boxing though is just piss poor.

Luckily with a PS5 its not log till you are back in again.

I don’t seem to be getting any new side quests given to me so having to go to the icons on the map for them to activate.

55+ hours in and still enjoying it even with the bugs and glitches. Even managed to complete that boxing side quest which I didn’t throw the fight.

I don't actually know how much time I put into this before abandoning it, probably around 60-70hrs. Most of that time was enjoyable enough so it's hard to be full on negative about the game, but it's just the level of expectation/hope for the game was so much higher than what it managed to deliver in the end

Considering how much I was hyped for it, this really was a one and done. I still think about Witcher 3, whether I'm writing or just thinking about games, but I've almost entirely put this out of my mind after a single playthrough.

Urgh.

I never even got to the end, just burned somewhere which is probably not actually that far from the conclusion. I didn't really find any of the main quests particularly interesting, some of the writing was nice on occasions and a few of the scenarios showed promise but it never really explored the wealth of possibility that the source material/genre gave them.

Given that lack of narrative pull there just wasn't enough to make me suffer the issues and general clunkiness to see it though to the credits.

I've still got it installed but I think the last time I booted it up was back in January.

This is it: it's not at all interested in the setting outside of the aesthetics. None of the main questlines even hint towards exploring the way tech intersects with capitalism to create dystopias. The corps are just evil for the sake of it and there's no time given at all to exploring the state of the world. Meanwhile it spends a huge amount of time dissecting the quirks of a complete arsehole simply because he's played by Keanu.

That's an unforgivable omission. Sounds like I'm better off just replaying the Deus Ex games.

The recent Deus Ex games don't really tackle the same dystopian view of things as Cyberpunk could have done. But whilst they make some mis-steps, the second game in particular, they at least attempt to engage with their own world and subject matter in an interesting way. Whereas like Taf says Cyberpunk never gets beyond saying anything more than: "Corps are evil, Keanu is a dickhead, you might all just as well spend your days doing what the strawberry float you want because this world is paper thin with no values, principles or statements to present or debate with you the player."

Important distinction here: might all just as well spend your days doing what the strawberry float you want as long as it's for the cops.

Honestly the fact that way more than half of the world events are you doing police work for the utterly corrupt NCPD is...the least punk thing in the world.

This is a good point!

Just read this and...is this new news?

https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/ ... d40ddab8e4

CDPR has already cancelled the Night City-based multiplayer game that was adjacent to Cyberpunk 2077

They've completely shelved the MP? I didn't know that!

Yeah that's certainly news to me. I know they hadn't talked about it for a while but I assumed it was still happening at some point?

Think it was news at the end of march/early April.
A few people hoped it was an April fools

Edit:

You'll probably be waiting a long time!

I tried to have a quick return to this last night and ended up ditching it again after about 15 minutes. I just can't get the motivation to persevere with it any more

80 hours in and seem to have cleared all the sidequests. I have two glitched which stop me getting trophies, one being the last psychopath which i killed at the start of the game but the sidequest popped up after I had already killed it and wont close down.

I am assuming that quest givers trophies involve buying all the cars? Which the game doesnt give you enough money to do. I am also slowly getting the crafting ability to create legendary weapons but its a slow process.
