Nothing stealth about it. Amazing game. Shame the original was good but took a while to sort on all a platforms and start to get the credit it needed. One of my favourite games ever.

I'd say overall it's still probably an "8 pushing 9 out of 10" game for me. There's a lot to love about it and where it has ended up is a great experience with some real high points, but it's still a let down in quite a few ways compared to the initial premise/promise that the pre-release hype and marketing was pushing for.

Well I guess the point I'm making is if they hadn't released the original and instead delayed until 2.1 was ready, it would very much have been in the GOTY conversation this year but as it is, it was very much Baldur's Gate 3 versus Tears of the Kingdom for most people.

I think this will end up being one of my favourite games ever too. The world building is phenomenal, it's such an easy game to get lost in. I need to keep reminding myself to do the main missions because it's so easy to get distracted.

I wish I had not played it this time last year. Not because it wasn't excellent (it was easily one of my favourite games that I played last year), but because I am worried it will still be too recent in my memory to feel fresh. By the same token it has been too long for me to pick up a finished game character and go straight in to the PL content.

someone put my mind at ease - if I go for a male character this time with a very different build (melee instead of quick hacking) will it feel nice and different from when I played at 1.5? Or should I leave it another year? OR should I just fart about for a couple of hours in my finished game before diving in to the PL content?

It's definitely one of my favourite games ever. The world is just incredibly atmospheric and absorbing. The sense of inhabiting the space you're in is incredible.

If only CDPR could do the same with Vampire: The Masquerade. Dream combination.

JUst did the mission Automatic Love and the one after it where you have to rescue Evelyn. I upgraded a lot of my weapons including my throwing knife up to tier 3, so I'm one shotting enemies by throwing knives at their heads now :datass:

Have you bought Phantom Liberty? You're coming up to when it unlocks.

I have played this each year so far. New build each time. The core story is the same and so it’s never completely fresh, but the approach to combat is totally different. I’ve done hacker and stealth pistol and a slasher melee build. I’m tempted to go smart weapons build at some point…

I haven't, but I'm enjoying the game so much I'm wondering if I should get it while I'm not at the end of the game, as I'll only play it once.

I think that's wise. There are bits in Phantom Liberty where you have to wait around for a phone call so makes sense to do it while you've still got plenty of the rest of the game to do.

How long is Phantom Liberty? Does it involve a new area?

I'm torn between getting it as you guys suggest and completing the base game now and getting PL later in the year and starting a new game with a female V with a different prologue and build and focusing on main missions only.

There is a new area, it does weave into the main game nicely, and so you are free to do it. You can finish PL before being inserted back into the game to possibly finish the normal last mission (depending how you end PL).

I think it was 10-15 hours for PL, maybe more. But it’s very very good. Some side filler stuff, but the main missions are great.

I'm about 3-4 hours into PL and so far it's fantastic, a really nice slice of the best bits of the main game.

Not 100% sold on the vibe of the new area but it's definitely nice to have somewhere fresh to explore again

I think it’s a great set of missions. Nice mini focused and tight story in a bigger world. Some great decisions upcoming. Some ‘whoa’ moments too. I love Idris

Gives you an alternate ending for the main story too I believe.

It can do. Or it spits you back into the main game.

Back on track with Baldur's Gate 3 now so will be tempted to restart this with PL once done.

I really love doing the hacking thing but...what's the point?

Is it literally just quickhack components you get from it for crafting?

And eddies. Though getting money is never an issue in this game. Kill goons, sell guns =minted.

Upgrading quick hacks is good though. Tier 5 contagion. Infect. Hide. Win.

Thanks, upgrading quick hacks isn't something I've paid much attention to (only 32 hours in) so I'll have a look at that next!
