Was hoping this would be a third person experience. Never found first person games to be that immersive, as for me it's always come down to the story, character interactions and a good camera. For example God of War just sucked me right in, The single camera effect helped, but the world building etc was second to none.

It'd be nice if they implemented a third person option, similar to the way GTA V has a first person option. Letting players pick what they prefer.

Additionally. It'd be interesting to see if what it'd be like on the PSVR.

For me it's not about not liking or disliking the cutscenes, it's that the game wants to have its cake and eat it. First person was chosen for 'immersion' a la Deus Ex but then we regularly switch to third person a la The Witcher (during which first person diagetic (in-universe) elements remain onscreen. Which is...odd.). But the dialogue scenes remain in first person for some reason. In The Witcher, and even Deus Ex, as all dialogue was third person the camera was free to drift away from the people talking and take in the landscape, or another character, or an event. It gave the developers so many options to create interesting vignettes whilst you deal with conversation choices. In Cyberpunk that's not going to happen as all the talking is done in first person (so far).

I wish they'd have plumped for a GTA V solution: first or third person as the player choses, with conversations in third.

I'd have also liked a third person option, though thankfully there's no of the fish-eye warping you get by default resulting in me feeling nauseous after 5 minutes of any console port of a Valve game.

I loved that gameplay trailer. Watched all of it on my TV last night. I have faith CD Projekt Red will not only create an immersive world, but the stories will be of a high standard.

Day one, Xbox One X, that 4K TV can't come quicker.

I actually feel like the choice for first person was more of a gameplay choice over immersion. Maybe they felt some of the advanced abilities would be a nightmare camera angle wise in small rooms/spaces. This seems like a very densely packed world. That said, mass effect is over the shoulder an that worked. It doesn't bother me so much. I like/prefer first person view. But would have been nice to have the choice.

Well it's the closest thing to a new Deus Ex we're gonna get for some time.

I'm very excited.

It looks great from what they've shown.
But just imagine how good it's going to be to kick off the objectives and just go exploring around that city.

I want it so badly. I really hope I don't die before it comes out

Baffling that they opened the gameplay demo with a corridor shooter rather than the bustling cyberpunk city.

I wish they had shown more of the dialogue and writing than the shooting. I'm not here for the shooting.

Yup! And, as a PC Gamer article I just read pointed out, none of the dialogue that was shown was very good anyway.

"I don't know you."
"But I know the name of your boss!"
"Please come in here is my pin code and account number"

Way too much shooting, and the shooting was done in very boring, generic hallways and factories.

The combat looks far too much like Destiny 2 for my liking. That game was strawberry floating boring, and I really hope its nothing like that.

I don’t know where you lot are getting Destiny and GTA vibes from?

Looks nothing like either to me.

I'm hoping that the next gameplay reveal will show the city at night in the rain.

Destiny is a sci-fi fps/RPG hybrid, with loads of gear, weapon classes, and enemies who bleed numbers.

GTA is a grim dark/mature satirical open world action game.

This looks like a blend of the two.

I can see the comparison maybe, but GTA is never grim dark the way I play it

Grim, dark and mature are not really words I’d use to describe GTA.

I can’t see this playing anything like either to be honest. Deus Ex / Prey seem like a more appropriate comparisons to me.

if you want to see a higher quality version of the gameplay video. You can get it here. Either HQ stream or 16gb download.

I'm using mature in the video game sense, which means it has tits and swearing in it. The trailer even describes the game as mature while you watch V's one night stand from the night before creep out, and it means its the kind of game that will use mutilated female corpses as "edgy" props, because it's mature.

And the tone of the story in the last 2 main GTA games had 3 been very grim/dark, along with a lot of the gameplay. Niko in IV was fleeing a past that was heavily implied involved war crimes, and V actually had you full on torture someone for an extended period of time.

I never played Prey, so can't comment on that, but I don't really see this as much like Deus Ex. This looks like much more of a set piece based action shooter, than the careful and methodical first person RPG Deus Ex was. Although CDPR have talked about the range of ways to tackle things, so those options might be there. I guess a trailer like this is somewhere to show off your big action set pieces, rather than your branching dialogue trees.

It does on paper, but GTA V and Destiny 2 are both stand out disappointments for me. Massively hyped games with loads of people who loved them, but neither really clicked for me at all.
