We couldn't even get an advert onto the Horror Channel, we've no chance of making an entire show.

There is no way a gaming show can compete with Twitch and Youtube. I am genuinely shocked at the numbers Twitch pulls in and it is only getting bigger

The monster, that was easily my favourite show about reviewing the side of books!

Welcome to Bookside where we don't judge a book by its cover, we judge it by its side!

Was that the one where you could phone in and receive advice/cheat codes from some dude in a dark cloak?

Disappointed but not surprised by the cancellation of Go 8 Bit. Miss Playr and Gameface also.

Did anyone else here watch When Games Attack with Dominik Diamond? I used to really enjoy that show.

I still lament the demise of videogame nation, a few cringey bits aside, it was a genuinely good games show. Apart from that annoying woman who ended up on go 8bit of course.

I mean it's not had a bad run by TV standards, three series?

But I thinking suffers for not really catering for its audience properly. It was absolutely enraging how many times they did app based games.

 Honestly though if a bonafide streamer that's actually capable of speaking to their audience had the resources of a show like this I'd bet they could pill in at least an audience of about a million over a reasonable span of time. Unfortunately that's not going to happen because most of the popular streamers are egotistical wankers and are essentially successful due to cult of personality and loud screaming jokes, they're either quids in with nowhere else to go or would never receive funding because competition is so high. Also the average fan is about 12 so it hardly makes for compelling viewing.

I guess that makes me sound as old/jealous/clueless as the rest of us here, unfortunately we're not 12-16 anymore and don't have time to spend the the rest of the time we're not playing games, watching someone else play them for us.

YouTube is the place to go for content aimed at people over the target audience age of 12-16 that Twitch has. It's not that Twitch isn't suitable for people older, it's just there seems to be very few streamers that adults could bear to put up with for more than 2 mins.

I tend to watch Digital Foundry and My Life in Gaming on YouTube when they put content up. I only really watched Go 8bit once and it was good enough but I wasn't sure about the format as a whole.

I'd recommend joining the chat on the streams broadcast by our own Jazzem and Pedz. They're ablaze with fun and (mature) silliness :) .

I think that the people on GRcade tend not to be the youtuber types, like I was saying yesterday. There are plenty, of streamers that aren't cocks. Again, like I said yesterday GameJ06 is a perfect example of that.

I will admit though, that I get very loud on a Monday evening between 9 and 10:30PM, Cause I strawberry floating hate Mario Kart and still play it :fp:

I don't hate it, but it is so strawberry floating frustrating at times

True. Suppose that was a consequence of the guests they were able to book: people who wanted TV appearances but were only casual gamers. They should have worried less about getting minor household names. Must be loads of lesser known talent with proper games experience. (That’s not being snobby about casual gamers. Just that shallow apps don’t make for good competitive TV challenges.)
