And the death of Optimus Prime, the father figure to the autobots as well as a generation. Lest we forget.

Doesn't he come back as a Transit Van or something?

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

It never bothered me as a kid because I always thought S3 and S4 of G1 was infinitely better than S1 or S2. Moving things into space turned it into proper science fiction. I’ll take Call of the Primitives or Fight or Flee over The Girl Who Loved Powerglide any day of the week.

The toys were a lot cooler as well.

I thought the movie was awesome then and I think it’s even better now.

He comes back a few times. The show completely retconned him being destroyed in one of the episodes. It made no sense.

It's just an early example of how animated movies are often not cannon to the series they're made from :toot:

Heavy Metal Wars and Megatrons Master Plan were a couple of my favourite G1 arcs as a kid, as were the ones that introduced the Aeriabots and Combaticons.

The movie is still great though.

I still enjoyed them. Gotta love the Dinobots. But I love all things space related so when the Transformers moved back home to Cybertron I was there.
