New Game+ doesn't start automatically in DS2, so if you want to finish the game now don't worry. You can go do the DLC even after the credits roll and have to start NG+ from Majula.

In my experience that doesn't really make any difference anymore because there's no-one playing it. But yeah, grinding isn't the answer either. I'd recommend having a few practise runs and then using a couple of items (resin, brightbug, burr) on your 'proper' run. Are there any in particular you're struggling with Tragic?

That's a good point actually, I hadn't even thought of that. I didn't play through Demon's Souls until about 3 years after launch and had no bother summoning most of the time, I assumed this would be the same.

As a side note I originally bought the US version when it first launched but I rage quit before ever getting anywhere in it.

Did not know that. Thank you!

MHTL, the dark magic woman in the sunken king who summons skeletons around her seems pretty damn tough. Although if I'm being, honest, I haven't given it a real good go yet. Just the DLC in general has ramped up the difficulty so I was feeling defeated before even trying. After a week of work, I'll be refreshed and ready to beat the bitch come next weekend.

Just to clarify, you'll be asked upon completion to start again, just say no and you'll stay in NG.

Elana's not too bad if you're patient. When she summons be sure to deal with the minions first, she's suprisingly non-aggressive during that phase. When they're gone you can wail on her for a bit before she starts attacking again. As long as she doesn't summon Velstadt then you're pretty much golden.

Discovered and beat Sinh this morning. Took frigging ages on account of it being so hard but it was such an enjoyable and tense fight.

Started this today. strawberry float me it feels slow and stodgy. Like I'm a fat drunk sumo wrestler. Going to take sometime to unlearn the aggressive tactics of Bloodbourne. Seems to take an age to do anything. From putting shield up to picking up items to being a stupid twat.

Opening areas are alright I guess. Main difficulty seems to be to place enemies just out of sight and then being ganged up on. Often with an archer shooting at you. Feels cheap like that. Coastal area is pretty.

Nothing has captured my interest like BB either. Although I did note that the boss ripped its own arm off like the amygdala whatsit.

Also strawberry float you Pedz

Yep.

Did a bit more. Couldn't find much of a way further beyond the last giant boss. The key opened some doors but it all seemed to reach dead ends. Then found another coastal area with large towers and big dudes in armour. Really nice looking place. Beat a boss here and found a pirate harbor dock place. This place is a dick with some terribly irritating enemy placement. A shame because I like the theme, especially the pub with the hollows just sitting about.

Who thought the health lowering when you die was a good idea? :fp: You died. Lets make it harder. :fp:

It is a terrible game mechanic that punishes the player for exploring off the beaten path. Thankfully they removed it for DS3. Only advice I can give is to stock up on Human Effigies wherever possible, the dogs at Lost Bastille can drop them and you're almost there.

Stick with it though, it's still a great game.

Whilst watching TWA's live stream yesterday, there was an unexpected moment of satisfaction as Matt was surprised to hear that I'd made it as far as the point he'd just gotten up to*. I felt like a hardcore Souls player :datass: .

* Disclaimer: it was about 90 minutes into the adventure and I've never progressed beyond that point...
