How much will Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin cost for PC?

Upgrading to the remastered 64-bit, DirectX 11 version of Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin will cost you £20 on Steam. If you already own all the DLC you get 40 per cent off, bringing it down to £12.

If you don't already own Dark Souls 2, the remastered Scholar of the First Sin standalone release costs £30 - the same price as the 32-bit release of Scholar of the First Sin, which only bundles the DLC with a new NPC character, events, and augmented item descriptions.

Dark Souls 2 is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next year in an enhanced version of the game called Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, Namco Bandai and From Software announced today. The re-release of Dark Souls 2 will come with the game's three downloadable add-ons and new enhancements.

The PS4 and Xbox One versions of Dark Souls 2 feature updated graphics as well as new game content, including "an expanded story featuring additional in-game events and NPC character along with new deadlier enemies and gameplay improvements." Those improvements will also be available for the PC release of Scholar of the First Sin, which takes advantage of DirectX 11 for Windows.

Dark Souls 2's new game content, augmented item descriptions and gameplay improvements, which From Software is calling version 1.1.0 of the title, are also coming to PS3, Xbox 360 and the DirectX 9 version of the Windows PC game. Players of those versions will get the 1.1.0 update free of charge. The Scholar of the First Sin re-release will also be available for PS3 and Xbox 360.

For a look at Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, check out the announcement trailer above and a few screenshots of the game in the gallery below. You'll get a glimpse at the increased multiplayer character count — which is coming to the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions — in a shot that shows six players battling each other.

Scholar of the First Sin will be released on April 7, 2015. (3rd April in Europe)

If my computer cannot run DirectX11 and I already own Dark Souls II along with the DLC on Steam, is there any reason for me to purchase Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin?

If you own Dark Souls II and the DLC on Steam, the content update in February has already upgraded you to the Scholar of the First Sin experience for DirectX9!

With the DirectX9 and DirectX11 version launching, how do I know what version I am buying?

Two separate Steam Store pages will exist for these different versions. All relevant information and links for the other page will be present. Please read carefully and make sure you understand which version you’re looking at before buying and let us know if you have any questions!

If I buy the DirectX9 version of the game now, and upgrade my computer next year, is there a way for me to obtain the DirectX11 version of the game without buying it over again?

If you purchase the DirectX9 version of the Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin now, you will be able to upgrade to the DirectX11 version of the game through the upgrade path highlighted above. ($29.99 for existing game owners, $19.99 for existing game and DLC owners)

I’ve heard that players with the DirectX9, Xbox 360, and PS3 versions of the game cannot play with owners of the DirectX11, Xbox One, and PS4 versions of the game. Is that true?

Yes. The difference in the DirectX11, Xbox One, and PS4 versions of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin pertaining to where enemies spawn, items are located, and other environmental differences will not allow players running newer hardware versions to connect and interact with players experiencing the game on older hardware running DirectX9, Xbox 360, and PS3.

How much will Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin cost?

Please note - These details are for North and South American territories.
Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin will be $59.99 on Xbox One and PS4. If you are purchasing on Steam, you can check the details below:

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin (DirectX9): $39.99
Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin (DirectX11): $49.99
DirectX11 Upgrade price for existing owners of Dark Souls II on Steam: $29.99
DirectX11 Upgrade price for existing owners of Dark Souls II and all DLC on Steam: $19.99

5 days after BB? Strange. If they reintroduce the torch stuff I'd be happy, it was so obviously ripped out at the last minute it shouldn't be too hard.

I didn't bother with Dark Souls 2 because although I enjoyed Demon's Souls, I just didn't enjoy Dark Souls as much and gave up on it. Think I'll just try Bloodborne as that seems to have been developed for the PS4 rather than a remaster.

Yes?

Agree, it looks pretty bad! I was expecting a proper remaster and not simply a clean up in 1080p. Bring us the lighting!

Will the PC version be properly coded and not a broken piece of gooseberry fool?

Not sure about this, it's the weakest in the series, as far as I'm concerned...

I'll probably rent this at some point as I still haven't played the DLC.

New enemy spotted :o

Well, seems all the more reason to update my original DS2 guide with the DLC expansions then. :datass: And I'd imagine this should be 1080p60 on PS4/XBO as even a half-decent PC could get that with max settings.

Granted, it wasn't as good as DS1, but I've played it for over 150 hours and I enjoyed it (and the DLC was pretty strawberry floating hard too, certainly compared to the main game).

Could do with more significant content though for us Season Pass holders... :shifty:

I guess from their point of view having Bloodborne out the week before will generate some souls hype to flog this (rather underwhelming looking) re-release.

DS2 community reckon the upgraded version on PC (that now uses DX11, like it should have at the beginning) will be charged for and that all saves and servers will be split from the original release.

:fp:

http://www.reddit.com/r/DarkSouls2/comm ... pgrade_to/

Will be interesting to see if Namco offer SP holders a worthwhile discount to double-dip again (I know I probably would with a good enough discount).
