You can indeed. It's especially easy if you pick firebombs as your gift item.

It is possible to defeat him first try and there is a cool (but not particularly useful) reward for doing so. Certain classes and character creation choices have a better chance than others.

EDIT: Here I am trying to keep up the mystery and Heaty jumps straight in with the how to video  :P

I'm confused - I thought you'd already beaten him and left that area

I read your positive comments about the Switch version, CD... so I can attribute some blame upon you ;-) .

Ah, I see! I don't think I'll be trying that, though!

I had... but now I'm dual-playing on both PS4 and Switch! Felt like I needed to up the challenge a bit.

But when you think about it, dual-playing is much more efficient. He's going to be giving up on double the amount of games now.

Jawa, there are some easier methods for defeating the Taurus Demon if you want to find them. The narrow environment seems like a disadvantage, but there's a tower at the end...

I seen Jawa put this on Twitter. And now I've learned he's playing two versions of it at the same time.

My body cannot take this.

Buy loads of fire bombs from the merchant in the Undead castle area.
Throw them at Taurus Demon until he dies.
PROFIT.

Also, kick the ladder down before you go on the big bridge

Yeah, it is probs a bit silly tackling the game on two fronts. I'm not sure if it makes for good practice or adds to the pain. Maybe both!

I climbed up that tower (via the ladder) thinking that I'd be able to chill and look at the Demon... but, no, it leapt up and then took me out with one powerful swipe. It was frustrating and yet incredible!

Oh, yeah, I did bump into that seller whilst exploring. Chucking bombs sounds a bit... I dunno... "cheating"? I may have to fall back to that tactic at some point, though!

Hmmn. I detect fake tactics, Squinty! The Tower ladder?

Always look out for shortcuts. If you've been exploring an area for a while with no bonfire about, chances are there's a door or ladder you can open/drop to create a shortcut. The first dark souls is full of them and it really shows off how well the whole world fits together.

I think the easiest 'cheat' way to beat Taurus is to wait until he's neat the tower, do the plunging attack you did on the Asylum Demon, then run to the other end of the bridge. Wait until he's close then run past him, back up the ladder and rinse and repeat.

Is the Taurus Demon the one on the roof of the church? Or is it the one on the boundary wall with the big hammer?

The dude with the big hammer I remember being quite slow and also having pretty obvious "tells" about which move he is about to do so don't recall having too many problems with him. Fairly certain he's another one of the creatures in the game that you can abuse the "rolling through their legs" manoeuvre to really piss him off!

Just cheat Jawa. I did it on my first playthrough. NO SHAME.

Also the ladder thing is a shortcut, 6ou only get access to it after Taurus Demon, but it cuts out a lot of walking and baddies.

Hows the Cleric Beast doing Jawa?

Also be careful with the tips chums. Its fascinating to see someone play DS not knowing anything. You can finally see how good/strawberry floating dreadful some of the design is. Telling him will impact his surprises and my enjoyment of watching him cluelessly try things as I get annoyed and shout at my screen.

Pretty sure when I did the Taurus Demon I was basically 1 go away from giving up on the game. I mainly tried to fight him on the wall and it was shite. Dodgy collisions and a camera so bad I was nearly scarred for life by the massive crotch thrusting into my face. I've always thought the run to the boss was far too long for noobs. Most of them are tedious anyway and "thankfully" this one is not as long as some others later in the game. :dread:

I will be going back to Bloodborne after making my way through - or, at least, progressing as far as I can - through the Souls games!

Surely no-one would get annoyed and shout when watching my playthrough  ;) .

I'm gonna have another go at Taurus Beast. And also try and work out why I find it so difficult to do that "kick shield" move on the pike-holding guys. I can only manage it about once in every twenty attempts at the moment; the move just doesn't want to happen.

Strawberry-float. Tried doing the "jump hit, run, climb ladder, do again" approach with Taurus and the bloomin' thing killed me on the third run back to the ladder. Dang it, this game is great but annoying :slol: .

Just defeated the Taurus Demon 8-) . YES!

I then bumped into Solaire! "Jolly co-operation"! "Grossly incandescent"! I have heard these famous lines with my own ears! .

Held my shield to reduce damage from the dragon's fire and then ran along the bridge and down the stairs to kick down the ladder and access the bonfire.

Feel amazing :datass: .

The Watching Artist wrote:Your not streaming :capnscotty:

I didn't think I'd be able to defeat Taurus and I thought folk would get bored with my repeated efforts  . I'm now gonna try and replicate this progress on the Switch version. When I pick up again on the PS4 version (probs tomorrow) I will stream :-) .
