Love checking in on this thread.

Jawa killed Queelag and Ceaseless.

Jenuall is still kicking ass as well.

It's all good.

Thank you, chaps! I unwittingly made that error early on by consuming a Firekeeper soul - so I don't know what impact that may have - and I may be spreading my skill points a wee bit too much rather than concentrating on certain attributes, but it seems okay so far. Even if I didn't progress further, I'd be happy with the achievements so far... but I plan on sticking with it!

The Watching Artist wrote:...Your biggest issue was it was like you had to relearn what you did vs a bell gargoyle. If you break down what Quelaag can do it's really not that different...

I think a wee bit of frustration led me to a "try and do things quickly" approach during Friday's session and that doesn't really work. I was more patient yesterday - even after that "one health point left" travesty against Quelaag :x :slol: - and I kept focused.

I love the visual design of the game and the construction of the differing areas; it's a joy to behold. Not quite so keen on the "there are completely random wall sections that can be broken" approach, though; it feels like I'd need to hit every part of every wall just in case it's a doorway :dread: . But, hey, that's a mere blemish on an incredible adventure.

Jawa... Jenuall... It's all good.

It is fun too see a number of folk tackling the game at the moment; even though we may be at differing stages, it feels like we're part of the same journey!

I plan to play again at 1500 (UK) today and I'll post a streaming link in case anyone wishes to pop in :toot: .

I love the fact that after Queelag survived by a fraction on that other failed attempt, your successful run had a moment where you almost died too! That's karma for you.

Loving the vids. I can't commit to a stream so I really appreciate being able to share in your journey. Dark Souls really does lend itself to watching someone else experience the game.

Haha! Yeah, I got a bit caught up in the excitement and hadn't realised that I had so little energy remaining... resolved that issue *just* in time  .

Absolutely, mhtl. I think the structure of the game - relatively slow-paced but with a lot of depth - lends itself to being very viewable; I've enjoyed watching Matt (TWA) play through Souls II and 'borne, alongside watching folks like Karl, Mafro and jiggles for shorter periods, too. There are different ways of approaching the game (I know that Karl is currently tackling monsters in a completely different order to me!) and this makes it wonderfully replayable, too.

One thing worth noting Jawa is that you can take two gulps of the Estus at once if you press the button again while drinking, which is much quicker than healing twice separately. It's useful for times like when you only had that tiny bit of health left against Queelag.

Thank you for the tip, sawyer! I am just now getting into the habit of the double-sip technique... it is useful :-) .

I just played another session and found my way through to Ash Lake :o . I travelled through that area and joined the Dragon covenant :o . I've now gotta take on the Hydra boss; I've been totally mashed in the three or so attempts that I've tried but, like with the other bosses, I'm sure I've just gotta take my time to learn how it moves and attacks. It seems tough, though.

I wasn't trying to have a go at you Matt for what it's worth. Sorry if I came across a bit strong.

It's ok. Just my thoughts on it. I can be guilty of long meandering posts though. So sorry about that.
Jenuall wrote:I'm still yet to summon so I get the TWA thumbs up for my approach so far!

You certainly do. :toot: It's little wonder you are smashing through the late game bits.
Jenuall wrote:Just done the Bed of Chaos... that was a load of shite wasn't it?

Honestly this was one of the most painful and and joyless things I've every done in gaming.
Ad7 wrote:Absolutely. I think it was on the moment he beat the gargoyles properly. There's no reason why not.

Yep. Jawa can do this. A few points might test his patience and I dunno if at some point he might just run out of gas and get bored with it but in terms of the challenge he can do it. No question.

You can take off a good chunk of his health at the start of the fight by climbing the ladder and then plunging onto him. To do that, press light attack while falling in the air above him.

Besides that, you can exploit the fact that he's quite slow. If you need to heal, you can probably just sprint to the other end of the bridge and get plenty of space.

General tip: make sure you're under 50% equipment load. You need to be able to move around in this game. Slow, heavy armour builds can work, but you probably don't have the right equipment to pull it off right now, so instead go for medium or light armour and keep it under that 50% load threshold.

Hey, TLG, it's nice to hear of more folk adventuring in Souls for the first time! Please feel free to chat on the streams if you want to, and it'd be cool to keep track of your journey in this thread :-) .
