I have never used the Drake Sword. Usually just get a Falchion and upgrade it with boob spider woman's soul.

Whenever I'm invading and I see someone using the Zweihander I drop a gift then bow and leave.

Zweihander

I think I used that all the way up to quelaag before I realised a faster weapon could be more effective than a slower more powerful one.

Pancaking enemies with the double R2 attack :datass:

The animation of them flattening never gets old

I was playing some of this today on NG+ and got Gravelorded for the first ever time. Was going up the elevator from Firelink and there was a bunch of red enemies in the church, strawberry floating shat myself when I stepped out and just casually walked forward.

I've basically stuck to alternating between my battle axe and spear so far, they've served me well to date!

Finally bought this for Switch on Wednesday. I've started a few times on PC, and got quite far in DS3 on PS4. I really love the series, but normally get stuck and end up giving up. I'm in Darkroot Garden with a Claymore+5 right now, and things are going okay so far.

Impressions on Switch - looks great handheld, but pretty shitty on TV.

I haven't played it on the TV yet, just in handheld but I forgot how strawberry floating unforgiving it is. I also feel that the bonfires could be better placed to make certain areas more enjoyable. I don't mind being a bit gooseberry fool and having to try a boss a few times but I really resent being sent back 5 minutes each time. I just end up giving up and I think it's just as much their bad game design as it is my lack of ability.

I get frustrated at using up humanity every time I try to kill a boss with a summon. Make's me panic that I've only got a few chances before the fight gets much harder, or I need to go hunting for more humanity. (Can't remember if this is just a problem early on).

I've only ever used humanity for kindling at bonfires, what does it do for bosses?

In all honesty I'm surprised at how easy I've been finding this so far, certainly compared to my time with DS3. I've just made my way up to Anor Londo now and have yet to encounter anything overly frustrating (although the bit which was pitch black was a touch annoying!)

It's possible I've stumbled onto a better character build in this than I did in DS3 which may be helping!

Humanity turns you human so you can summon.

Ah okay, was it called something else in DS3? I remember summoning a few times in that but haven't needed it in this (so far!)

They were embers in DS3.

Beat the bell gargoyles, (with a little help from jolly cooperation,) and rang the first bell of awakening. :D

I headed back to firelink shrine, and when I walked into the pool area, there was this noise like some giant monster snoring, but couldn't see anything. :dread:

I was about to head down to the depths, when I realised I still have black knights to fight in both undead burg and parish, so will probably go back to both of those.

Also started upgrading my claymore. I know weapon upgrades are supposed to be the way to go, as they scale, so some you can carry through the whole game, but is it the same for armour? Should I be upgrading that too, or am I better off swapping to later game pieces?

:dread: :dread:

I seem to remember armour upgrades were negligible. Better to use the resources on weapons.

biggest benefit of armour upgrades for me was always poise, but it depends what you are starting with really

if resources are tight Id choose weapons any day
