Jawa just watching on twitch, forget the firebombs as the animation is to slow. You did well on the first one and you'd have killed it if you concentrated on it and used LIGHT attacks rather than charging the heavy. 2 light hits does more damage than one heavy

Congrats, Hypes! Gargs no more! Well played .

Yeah, another cool session but the gargs still live! They lost their tails a few times but I couldn't quite take 'em down. I'm not giving up, though .
Maybe consider affording yourself a no strawberry floats given run just to try out a few new tactics. I've done that before against some bosses and sometimes it can help to give a bit of clarity (explore the roof a bit more, try out light attacks, rolling etc).
Also I could be wrong but you can run past those 3 guys at the start and they won't follow you. Saves a bit of time and reduces the chance of using estus before the fight.
Has he released the guy in the cell in the cathedral yet? If so he need to head back to firelink, kill the bastard and snag the ring of favour and protection.

I have released that guy... this sounds interesting...

Ah! I thought they would... I'll check it out next time!

Go back to Firelink and down the stairs to the Firekeeper girl. He'll be sitting across from her.
Kick him once to make him stand up. Then when he's staggered, kick him again so he falls off.
He'll fall to his death and you'll get his souls. At that point, save and reload and you'll find a ring you can pick up.
If you don't kill him, the bonfire will stop working and you'll need to fight him to get it back as well as the ring.
The ring is worth it though. It will increase your equip load (so you can wear more before fat-rolling) and your health.
Jenuall wrote:Where is this dude? My bonfire at Firelink has been out of action for ages now and I've yet to work out how to get it back!
His name is Lautrec and he'll be down by the Ash Maiden.
Hmm. There's nobody there in my game ... and the ash maiden is dead I think! I've been getting by fine without that bonfire but it would have been nice to have it back!
I did a bit of sequence breaking on a new character (Thief as usual!), Mafro came to watch! Played for about 2 hours, it was pretty fun.
First goal was to get all the early Firekeeper Souls - from the Undead Parish, Blighttown, and New Londo. While on my way I also bought Soul Arrow, picked up the Estoc and Parrying Dagger, and obviously I always grab the Crimson Set and the Tin Banishment Catalyst.
Interestingly, Lautrec freed himself and killed Anastacia & extinguished Firelink as I was pottering around, despite my not going to the Undead Parish yet - must be to do with the sequence break - but that's great as it means I got the fantastic Dingy Set from the corpse. Decided to skip Undead Burg and the Taurus Demon: I ran through the Valley of Drakes and then Darkroot to get to Andre the Blacksmith. In Darkroot I smashed a Black Knight and picked up the Grass Crest Shield he was guarding, and his Halberd even dropped for me, which was great luck (though I'll stick to lighter weapons).
Upgraded my Bandit's Knife with Andre a few times then killed the Tower Knight and the Channeller in the church. I think my goal will be to do the Bell Gargoyles next, and then Quelaag straight away afterwards. I'll try to skip the whole sequence of locations and encounters you're supposed to have (the Capra Demon, the Depths, the Gaping Dragon, and most of Blighttown). Might need to think about acquiring a higher base damage weapon to use two-handed in boss fights though, as my dagger might not cut it (ha).
@Jenuall: You should have an item called a Black Eye Orb in your inventory. You can use it later in the game to investigate what happened to Firelink Shrine.
