Cool, I think I’ll follow that approach and just focus on the missions and see how I get on with it.

I like attacking the freakers when I have a baseball bat or fire axe to hand

1. Avoid any of the cocktail skills until you've got nothing else to buy.
2. Get the slow motion aiming skill early on.
3. Silent crouching is also a godsend when you finally unlock it.
4. Get the skill allowing you to repair weapons with scrap. Only bother to repair rare crafted weapons like baseball bat buzzsaw or the ultimate axe.
5. Buy motorbike performance upgrades as soon as you can.
6. The best weapons for dealing with multiple zombies are machine guns.

When you find weapons, how do you add them to your locker so you can keep it and refill ammo?

You can't. The only weapons which will spawn in a locker are those you buy or unlock via sidequests.

Ahhh ok, I thought I was missing something. I have got the slow motion aiming skill using my first skill points and it definitely helps with the rifle.

The motion aiming really elevated this game for me. Popping head shots was incredibly satisfying.

Great game, enjoyed it from beginning to the (excellent) end.

Reached and have done a few missions with Iron Mikes camp, I am liking it, not as much as some of Sony’s other open world games but it’s satisfying to play. The story’s ok but not really grabbing me, interested to see where it all goes though.

Been chipping away at this, just did the big mission at Iron Mikes camp and have now travelled South and have joined up with a new group. I’m guessing this was the part where people had expected it was about to end but carried on instead?

Never got past Iron Mike both times I played this so I probably could have done with it ending there anyway

It is, yes. That's not how I felt however - I was really engaged with the story and happy to see how it all unfolded.

I am keen to find out what’s going on with his wife, especially after seeing the Captain wearing his ring

I’m also expecting something to change/happen with the freaks? I’ve not ran into many massive hordes in the 20 or so hours I have played so far, mostly just the ones that seem to be a set piece as part of the missions.

I barely hit any hoards until post game. They are milling about if you look for them, but with perhaps one exception you can choose whether to engage with them or not. I mistakenly thought that they were infinitely respawning zones to deter you from trying to enter them, but if you start taking a few out you will see a large boss energy bar appear at the top of the screen.

I'm not sure if you have to progress to a certain point before this mechanic unlocks at all, but if you see a bunch of them, give it a try! They are very impressive (and difficult) in action.

Maybe it’s because I have been focusing on story missions and have rarely deviated from the main path. I’ll try hunting some down before I finish the story stuff

Yeah the horde health bar doesn't appear until a late game mission which specifically has you fight a big horde. Which is weird because the smallest horde in the first area is like 20 so you could have quite easily have fought it very early on.

Ah that's right, THATS why I ignored them until after that late game mission.

Right, so I think I have reached the late game Horde mission you mentioned (Has you testing the new explosive)

Any tips? I try to lead them to the big gas containers so I can shoot and blow them up but I can’t seem to get the hordes anything even halfway down.

I try to remember.

Use the Naplam Molotov and a gun called Chicago Chopper. Make sure they are close together to the Naplam Molotov so they will burn quickly.

Chicago Chopper as main weapon, uzi as sub weapon. Use lure explosives, remote explosives, continually run backwards.

I think it’s too late for me to get that gun from the camp, I’ll focus on trying to keep the horde together and throw the Molotov at them. Annoying that you only get 2 of the cocktails, the remote bombs also seem like they hardly do anything
