I saw a Nero camp over a broken bridge, so naturally I didn’t have enough power to make the jump.

So I decided to turn round, but a single freaker pounced on me and I end up at the bottom. :slol:

Encountered a bug: the subtitles didn’t appear in a cutscene, but it came back on soon after the cutscene finished.

The weather in Days Gone is spot on. The rain, wind, thunder, lightning and how a storm seems to move across the region rather than just stop and start really draws you in adding to a real sense of loneliness and dread in this apocalyptic setting.

Some of the most immersive I've seen in a video game

Upgraded the tucker base to max level. Got some new weapons including a lovely Uzi instead of a pistol and a massive machine gun instead of a crossbow.

Decided to go and face a small horde base near some water. It was day time and they were resting inside. Placed two prox mines on the floor. Then one freaker sees me and rushes. Sets off both bombs. And I'm dead.

Went back without the prox mines and woke the freakers up via grenades, pipe bombs and 6 petrol bombs.... New machine gun with an added mag upgrade helped a lot and I had killed my first horde.

Can't wait to get more weapons and recipes to make more stuff so I can exterminate them all.

Wish my image sig would work

Nice job. I've yet to kill a horde. While I'm trying to get as much play time in I usually have to wait until late in the evening. Tonight, though, I've the house to myself. I'm close to upgrading Tuckers camp to level 3 and really want to kill that horde at the Nero base by the train track, (which I think is the one you took down).

I think the train track one is a much bigger horde with about 100 freakers. I kbow mine only had 50 or so. I need to go back to the train track horde as it has loads of well placed barrels and a petrol tanker so if I time it right I could get rid of a lot of them.

I'm putting all my Nero upgrades into focus then stamina. As focus is really what I need to take down the larger hordes. Not bothering much with the melee combat upgrades either. Just working on ranged and survival.

One thing I really love is how freakers and humans can be taken down with a couple of shots or one good headshot. It's realistic compared the the bullet sponges humans normally are in games.

What region is the horde you took down in then?

I've been chased and killed by the horde at the train track and yes there were loads of them. I hate riding past it every time. :dread:

Was top right of the map. Was near a river and a Nero upgrade was outside. So I got that then ventured into the cave.

I'll check it out.

I do strongly recommend building up melee, particularly if you're using upgraded weapons. Saved my life more than once without having to use a single bullet. It's also satisfying cracking skulls with a spiked baseball bat.

Yeah, I'm earlier in the game then you are, Gem, but I spent a skill point on the melee skill tree when I played at the weekend. Bullets seem hard to come by!

As you say, the weather effects are great; not just visually but aurally, too. The simple patter of rainfall is so effective.

Bullets are aplenty. It’s just that you have a limited capacity to carry more.

There are indeed, but as OrangeRKN said the limited capacity of all equipment gives a sense of survival. It's a good balance. Plus squeezing off a few rounds can alrert all kinds, and makeshift silencers keep needing replacing. Some of the melee weapons are great to use.

I have noticed that it seems better to take a quiet, stealthy approach. If you start firing, the noise usually draws out all of the nearby freakers. It's a cool mechanism for the gameplay :-) .

Stealth knife takedowns are just way more fun anyway

I've used the same spiked bat since unlocking the option to make one, crack a few skulls then repair!

Installing another update (1.06) just the dreaded copying phase.

Least not forgetting the dreaded bullshit "not enough space to install" when you have 106GB free and the update is less than a GB. Really pisses me off every damn time.

Sound like you need to rebuild the database.

It’s like PC’s defrag. Cleaning out the hard drive, freeing the space that appears to filled, while it shouldn’t be.

http://www.gadgethelpline.com/rebuild-s ... -database/

I’ve done it twice, and all your games/game saves wouldn’t be affected. You might lose folders but it’s easy fixed by doing them all again.

Making good progress with the story. Love how dark it gets, the rippers are not nice people at all. Makes shooting them so much more fun.

Story feels like The Walking Dead with different groups trying to do their own thing and get along.

Played a bit more today and I fell in love with it.

Stumbled into a maurader camp, and found out if you don’t take down all stealthy, a mini horde will rush into the camp.

Took three tries but I managed at the end.

This game.

Destroyed my first Horde. Sat in a Bush and lobbed some distractors followed by pipe bombs when they all grouped around it. When there was less than 10 left rushed in and gave em a clobbering with my trusty bat!

Got to the last area..... No spoilers but it's bloody awesome. Graphics are amazing, other things are amazing. Getting there was taken straight from another game but I don't mind.

New area is interesting and I'm eager to explore and unlock stuff.

Not a massive fan of all the cut scenes but there isn't really any other way they could have told this story without them.

Another thing not often mentioned is how mature it all is. The writing, the setting and the motivations. Some men are monsters, some women are heroes and people do stupid things when scared.

I'm doing more main story stuff than I thought I would as it's so well written and one mission leads into the next seamlessly.

It seems that the latest patch, v1.06, is causing crashes for many players and it has been withdrawn for correction. Take care out there on the broken road!
