Not really had a Relentless challenge in a game like the horde before. It's so satisfying when a planned route works and thus run into random traps and the XP just keeps flying. Up to level 28 I think. Maxed out all ranged and survival skills. Just starting on close quarter combat upgrades.

Wow, you really are ploughing through it! I did get a good few hours in today but am content to just bumble along at a slow pace. I'm a little past the discussion with Iron Mike and dynamiting horde caves.

Feels like I've played loads, but I've only put in an hour or so each night. You'll no doubt have Days Gone beat long before I do.

In think this games looks pretty good tbh, as Gemini said, reviews don't always dictate how much you enjoy a game.

It doesn't re-invent the wheel (which seems to be the main criticism which I feel is unfair) but what it does do it does very well and has lots of nice little touches throughout. The Horde in particular really does raise it above your standard open world affair, which is why I find it odd that many a review only skimmed over this game changing element. Definitely one of those times where it pays to ignore the reviews and try it for oneself.

Seems we are both at the same point in the game :toot:

Taking out that big horde obviously jumped your level up quite a bit. I'm guessing that part of the story is just around the corner for me then.

This is a sandbox done right.

I get overwhelmed by the sheer number of icons in most Ubisoft games and end up discarding them.

I thought they were going to have you at first. Nicely done. :toot:

I stumbled across that horde earlier on by pure accident. Made me jump out of my skin! Will return later now I have a strategy of sorts. Like yourself I use an attractor and pipe bombs (or a grenade if you're lucky to find one), but follow up with my semi-automatic using focus.

Another horde down. That was much bigger than the last.

I love how the map is empty until you find something. Makes it a lot more enjoyable and realistic. The Ubisoft way is more to show how much content the game has but it's often repeats of the same old task.

The perfect horde run is a thing of beauty. Like a perfectly filmed action scene.

Using attractors, pipe bombs and molotovs I kept luring the horde out of their cave during the day (while hidden above them) until there were enough for me to take on without being swamped using the semi-automatic and melee weapon. Took a while, but it worked! They're maybe lots of them, but they're certainly dumb asses.

Reminds me of Wildlands. Reviews were average, but it's become one of my most-played games of this generation.

Wildlands is ace, particularly in co-op. Didn't realise it had average reviews. What are these bellends on? :fp:

Came across a new enemy type while Boozer was living up to his name. Not nice at all. :dread:

How many horde encounters are there? In the Jim Sterling review he had only encountered 3. (I don't think he'd finished the game, though.)

I don't think there's anyone out there that said this was anything akin to The Order 1888 in terms of quality. It's just that it's a very good looking, mostly solid but average game. Straight out gooseberry fool games can be enjoyable in their own way, so it should come as a no surprise that a 6 or 7 / 10 game can entertain.

The devs said there are 40 in all ranging from 50 to 500 strong. The first region has 8 hordes, 6 hordes in the second. I've seen 10, maybe 12 in total and taken down 2. First had around 50 the second about 100. Some hordes also move across the region at night before returning to their lair.

I quite enjoyed it as well. Was disappointed the story didn't continue.

Currently staking out my third horde

*edit* Bastards came out in the day and took a different route right by where I was waiting. I'm now hiding in a dumpster completely surrounded.

I've maxed out stamina and focus, just health left to upgrade. Almost got my final upgrades to weapon's from the camp I'm at. Also bought loads more bike upgrades which really help.

I think I've only got one more camp to do too.

Still a load of story missions to go though.

I found a horde leaving their lair. Decided to pick a fight.... Didn't go to plan. I killed another large horde but it was a lot easier than to all the explosive stuff left about the place.

I hope there is a way to buy more crafting items as it's a pain to search for stuff for proximity mines.

I'm going to return to Days Gone tomorrow, but I wanted to fire up Fallout 76 this evening to see how it is.
