So I've been playing this again, found a rather fun server called 'always sunny in dayz' server. Pretty much your standard server, but with cool admins and high vehicle spawns/additional buildings like shops on coast etc. Anyway was randomly driving about after I found a parked up 4x4 near the middle of the east coast, I discovered this admin camp :datass:

Sadly I was kicked shortly after having a look around, apparently a rule is players can't go there... meh. I wanted that black heli.

EDIT - bumping xeno's post from the last page.

found a quad bike on that awa server and fixed up the wheel. Then proceeded to crash it into a bush. Game over.

(This was after dying to barn physics and getting lost on the NW edge of the map trying to recover my body with all my cool gear from the last page)

Got this through Steam, getting a game is a nightmare :( Servers seem to be locked or come up rejecting you and when I do get on one I spawn as a bird :fp:

Any suggestions?

A bird?!

Download DayZ Commander http://www.dayzcommander.com/ Much better than the in-game server browser and you can favourite servers. It also keeps the game updated and you can download the other maps in it.

I wasn't best pleased as I got the Arma II ad on just to play it and I can't stand Arma II :dread: It's really for my son as he watches a lot of Yogscast and they play it a lot so he wants to, I can't even set up my own server so he can wander around shooting zombies :fp: I thought Steam would keep it up to date but it appears not.

Bird spawns might be becase of differing versions of arma2

It is happening in arma3 mp. Players with developer builds that host
Matches are causing players on older versions to spawn as seagulls.

Dayz commander is rhe best option so far.

This probably should be in it's own topic but meh.

Anyone else see the eurogamer piece about DayZ standalone possible ending up on console?

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013- ... y-happened

There's a good chance DayZ will make it to console, provided the PC launch of DayZ Standalone isn't a disaster.

"Certainly I think if we don't, for want of a better word, 'f*** up' the PC release then I would say a console port is almost certain," Dean Hall told The Escapist.

"I know a lot of people get really hot and bothered about it. Like, I'm not a console gamer, I'm a PC gamer, but I don't think it necessarily has to hurt things."

Hall said he had even talked with an interested Sony about putting the game on PS4.

"It appears to be the kind of game that Sony are interested in," he said. "We've talked and met with Sony, and they're very - you know, they're obviously interested."

Dean Hall and his small DayZ team work for ArmA developer Bohemia, an established PC studio that could presumably cope with the extra development load that console ports would require.

Having platform holder cooperation would also ensure DayZ - an online game - could be regularly patched and updated like it is on PC.

Sony's made positive strides towards opening up PlayStation to online games, Dust 514 being a clear statement of intent.

Mind you, Microsoft has also found great success in pursuing breakout PC hits - Minecraft in this case - and reshaping them for Xbox Live.

It's not the first time Bohemia's talked about putting DayZ on console. In September, a Bohemia producer talked about such a version being a no-brainer somewhere down the line.

:fp: Probably means they're developing it for console already and the PC version will suffer for all the limitations of the console version.

I'm not buying until I see some reviews and others buy it to try it.

The only thing they could realistically do to make it console friendly is the controls, there is a lot they could do in that regard. The game is so open and there are no objectives (unless they put them in), I really can't see where it could be "dumbed down".

I doubt the Hall & Co will want to lose all that good faith in the community, poking that particular bear with anything other than raw meat will be suicide.

So does anyone still play the Mod?

Only just found out about it and it looks awesome

But if it's a fad which has died off and everyone is waiting for the Standalone version then I'll wait until then.

Who just locked this thread? :dread:

Anyway.

It's not a fad, but a mod. And a mod can only do so much.

Plus it's been hacked to gooseberry fool now and isn't really any fun if you come across hackers.

Most people are waiting for the standalone because it'll hopefully be more of a game and will actually be marshalled online.

Cheers, will probably wait until the Standalone then and see what it's like then.
