We have a surfeit of "serious" zombie titles. Dead Rising was one of the few where you could jam a dinosaur mask on a zombies head and make their heads explode with guitar music.

Dead Rising 3 bigger than DR1 & 2 combined

The open world of Dead Rising 3 is large enough to accommodate the worlds of both its predecessors combined.

During a panel at the San Diego Comic Con this weekend, Dead Rising 3 executive producer Josh Bridge demonstrated the scope of the new game by contrasting its world with that of Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2.

According to Game Informer, Bridge showed that the maps for both games would fit inside the sprawling open world of Dead Rising 3 'with room to spare'.

Because a bigger game is always a better game.

It looks amazing.

Remind me of how when the zombie apocalypse happens everything will be bright sunshine and lush green fields

I think it looked a lot better in the SDCC vid than E3 and the reveal, but still needlessly devoid of colour.

Didn't Saint's Row 3 go in a more tongue-in-cheek direction to distinguish itself from GTA IV? Is Dead Rising 3 going to go in a silly direction to separate itself from the intensity of The Last of Us experience? The use of humour is fine but it should be in line with the setting. I wouldn't think there be too much to laugh about in city full of zombies, but then Dead Rising 3 is meant to be a more arcadey fun type of game.

Eh? Humour is a big part of Dead Rising. Glad they didn't ditch it.

Too late for me I'm afraid and it looks completely out of place in the completely grey grim dark world they have for this game.

EDIT: I say this but I know I'll probably end up buying it on sale on PC eventually.

I'm afraid to say that this will not be on the PC at all. It's published by MS and they're unlikely to allow it to hit the PC.

They're trying to push Windows 8 with multi-format arcade style titles at the moment, why wouldn't they do the same with their main games?

It'd be suicide by them not to acknowledge that their main market is still windows users.

Dead Rising has always been insane, and if you want to track back the geneaology, it goes right back to an unfinished idea for Res Evil which was initally supposed to get more ridiculous the more times you'd finished it, though you can still see a few remnants here and there, like the unlockable character "Tofu" in Resident Evil 2.

All things considered, did people really think that Capcom were going to remove the whole point of Dead Rising just because they've changed the colour filter to fit with the new setting?

Oh wow. What an incredibly bold move from Capcom. Look at how the ridiculous slap stick comedy contrasts with the grimy, realistic environment. Soooo intelligent humour.

Nah, it looks gooseberry fool really. Totally clashes and just looks like it has no idea what it wants to be.

They should never have picked this setting or that awful grim dark colour scheme.

So... what's DR3's setting again?
